While homelessness becomes a serious issue in many cities across the nation, we brought together some of the country’s top policy leaders to explain why this is happening and offer solutions to this growing problem. The 3-day event brought together some of the nation’s top policy leaders with more than 60 pastors from all over the country who are part of CURE’s clergy network. At the summit, these faith leaders learned about key policy issues, collaborated with fellow pastors and were equipped to take the solutions back to their churches and communities. On last week’s episode of CURE America with Star Parker we delved into a very important topic - the “T” in the LGBTQ agenda. Transgenderism. When a person physically changes his or her body through medical treatments, surgeries, hormone therapy and other drugs to change their gender.
We just touched on this troubling new trend in our society and discussed the terrible impact especially on children who have been told its “ok” and are being pushed into these life altering surgeries and medical treatment, denying the scientific and Biblically based reality of creation.

“Our nation, too, has a legacy of evil with which it must deal. The glory of this land has been its capacity for transcending the moral evils of our past.” President Reagan spoke these words in March 1983, a speech which he famously called the Soviet Union the “evil empire.” But as we see the Russia of today attempt to retread its past, a perspective is gained when we refocus on what is going on in our own country. In fact, that refocus is needed, if we are to understand a retreated America on the global stage and an emboldened despot in the spotlight.
Poll after poll continues to show President Biden’s drastic drop in national approval. An even steeper drop in support has emerged from some of the Democratic Party’s most reliable supporters – Black voters. With approval among Blacks plummeting, what failures and policies of the Biden administration have driven this change? How have these actions by the White House and the Democratic Party negatively impacted the lives of Black Americans specifically? Blacks are clearly taking notice, but is the Biden Administration taking notice of the very real issues with which Black Americans are struggling, especially the issues with which the Left created themselves.
To answer the question of why we have Black History Month, we must first understand Black history. Every conversation of Black history of course includes the saga of slavery, but it must also include the story of sin. We must not neglect our founding principles and the truth of man and our Creator in our history. In doing so, far too many today distort the lessons of our history for their own gain. But when we look at the full truth of this history, what lessons can we learn?
The job of our Federal Reserve Board of Governors is quite simple – to supervise a smooth-running economy and banking system. Biden’s latest radical nominee sees her role as more prophetic. Sarah Bloom Raskin represents another attempt to use the government to pick winners and losers in our economy. The indictment of the woke movement is that America is the problem. King offered up America as the solution. For years, a mob mentality and behavior has been cajoled and justified by the Left, with a disregard towards the pillars of a free society and the fundamental institutions of our nation. The noise of the Left’s continued evaluation of January 6 remains all too stark in the midst of their silence in condemning growing progressive mob behavior and attacks on our democratic process. Government’s not your daddy!
Trust in government continues to decline, as few Americans trust politicians to do the right thing. Amidst cultural breakdown, the soaring rise of inflation, and the continued drastic rise of our national debt, government solutions only seek to put more people in dependency and extend the welfare state, using your tax dollars to do so. Former Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, released a newly policy book that offers a vision of conservative solutions to get the nation back on track, with a collection of essays from leading conservative leaders, including CURE Policy Founder and President, Star Parker who explains how to overcome poverty through personal responsibility and no longer relying on government as your source.
Ironically, the Biden Administration is hosting a global “Summit for Democracy,” even while the administration continues to threaten liberty here at home. Liberals are continuing to push, more and more, for governmental control and intrusion into our everyday lives. It is authoritarianism when government takes over a large percentage of our economic activity, mandates the actions of the people, and dictates the values of individuals. However, our inalienable rights are bestowed by our Creator, not by government. Government is formed to protect, not grant or deny, these rights. As the State Department quotes the preamble of the Constitution, “to form a more perfect Union,” in noting the aims of this summit, it calls to reflection on the ideals enshrined in the founding of our nation. Through this summit, its purported meaning, and the continued actions by those on the Left, it’s clear that this reflection is lost on the Biden administration.
The U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, a case out of Mississippi that makes abortion after 15 weeks illegal in that state. A case like this hasn’t been heard by the Supreme Court for many years, and presents the possibility of ending legalized abortion in our lifetime. The true issue at the heart of this case is this – is life sacred? If the answer is yes, it is sacred in and out of the womb. If we conclude it is not, we are on the road to becoming a nation without children, where the only love is self-love. It’s now on the Supreme Court to make the right decision and allow Mississippians to protect sacred life.
Hardworking Americans, small business owners, and even large corporations are all held responsible when it comes to their spending and investments. But where’s the accountability and responsibility for the trillions being spent by the Left in the massive, wasteful Build Back Better Act? Biden’s sinking poll numbers suggest that Americans are paying attention and realizing what is happening. Now, with its passage in the House of Representatives, the battle moves to the Senate to stop a bill that will raise the deficit and inflation and transform our nation into total government dependency. When it comes to wasting our hard-earned tax dollars, Biden and the Left must be held accountable.
The House of Representatives has moved forward in passing the disastrous Build Back Better bill. Looking at the advancement of government dependency and the state of our nation after an incredibly tough year for all Americans, it’s easy to get lost in the noise and forget that we do live in the greatest country in the world. We have an election next year because we are consistently presented the opportunity to change our government if it’s not working for us. This Thanksgiving season, in the midst of our ongoing battle to cure America, we renew our energy going forward and take pause to remember the grace and liberty we are grateful for.
What happens when the common ground of core values is lost? While Bill Clinton moved to the center to save his presidency, the nation looked vastly different than it does now. Data shows that voters and their parties have moved farther and farther from the center. With government involvement in our daily lives drastically increasing, and the constant opposition to traditional values advancing, the challenge to Americans is this – what kind of America do we want to live in?
Progressives continue to sling false, divisive attacks, even against members of their own party, all in the name of passing their massive reconciliation social spending welfare bill that will plunge our nation deeper into debt and drastically change the American landscape. History, data, and common sense tells us that these policies are counter to everything needed to uplift American families, with subsidies that reward single parenthood, punish marriages, and discourage people from working. While President Biden bows to the progressives in his party and their message of government dependency over freedom and personal responsibility, his tanking poll numbers show that Americans have taken notice.
Last week, Star discussed the PRO Act – a union power expansion hidden in the Senate reconciliation bill. This week she sat down with Mark Mix, the President of the National Right to Work Committee, a 2.8 million member public policy organization. They have fought to make 27 states "right to work" states, meaning that their employment does not have to be based on union membership. Star and Mark discuss how the PRO Act is working to disrupt the freelance "gig" economy and how this will disproportionately hurt the black community.
The Democrats have done their very best to sneak all sorts of big government expansions into the Senate reconciliation bill, including a union power grab that most people haven't heard about. It's called The Pro Act, "Protecting the Right to Organize." Various unions want to stifle technology and innovation as it moves forward and provides the workforce with more opportunity and freedom. This bill seeks to disrupt the freelance, gig economy that has allowed people to find growth and success without the help of big government.
At CURE's 2021 National Policy Summit, Star Parker was able to sit with former United States Attorney General Bill Barr to talk about what he calls his "legacy issue" of freedom of choice education. Attorney General Barr and Star discuss how parents have a "critical liberty issue" in the education of their children, and what legal remedies can be pursued in order to maximize choice for students and parents in where their child is educated.
CURE recently concluded its 2021 National Policy Summit in Washington D.C., bringing together leading policy experts and our network of pastors to discuss "The State of Black America" and work towards solutions for our communities. CURE Founder Star Parker was able to sit down one on one with one of the keynote speakers of the Summit, former U.N. Ambassador and former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, to have a conversation about how communities can make a real difference in healing deep, longstanding divisions.
The Census Bureau's annual report, “Income and Poverty in the United States: 2020” was recently released, and it paints a vastly different picture than what we hear from those on the left who say that Americans need government handouts to get ahead. The reality is that America is still working, and its people are moving up the ladder and creating wealth in spite of big government. We are seeing that the values of hard work and personal responsibility are still the best remedy for getting out of poverty and getting ahead in life.
Last week, Supreme Court Associate Justice Clarence Thomas arrived at the University of Notre Dame to speak about the Declaration of Independence. Public speaking appearances for Clarence Thomas are quite rare, which makes this speech significant, and even more significant is the story of how his life experience shaped his understanding of the Declaration of Independence and what America truly is at its core. As Justice Thomas stated in his speech, “For whatever it is worth, the Declaration of Independence has weathered every storm for 245 years. It birthed a great nation. It abolished the sin of slavery. … While we have failed the ideals of the Declaration time and again, I know of no time when the ideals have failed us.”
Democrats are pushing a massive spending deal through Congress under the guise of fixing America's infrastructure and helping the working poor, but most of this spending doesn't actually do any of that. Big government continues its spending binge in order to build the socialist utopia of Nancy Pelosi and Bernie Sanders – where new entitlement programs, employer mandates, and the policies of the green new deal take precedent over American families. The last thing that America’s poor need is a slowed-down, sluggish economy, larded down by massive new government.
September 14th’s California recall election has top Democrats such as Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, and Amy Klobuchar scrambling to campaign for Gavin Newsom as the polls are within the margin of error. Has the emergence of Larry Elder, a black conservative candidate running to replace Newsom, woken California voters up to the idea that freedom and competition are the recipes for opportunity? Newsom’s policies have led California to the second-highest unemployment rate in the country, and voters will have the opportunity to reject the status-quo on Tuesday.
