When it comes to pursuing purpose, expect to always be met with resistance. Many people face resistance and respond in fear by running, but as you get clarity around what you’re called to do, you should expect outside forces to try to hold you back. Whether it be distractions, annoyances, boundaries that are crossed, or technical issues, it’s in the resistance where you gain the confidence to persevere through any challenges that come.

Through resistance, you’re also able to recognize when you’re in alignment and who you are called to serve. It’s easy to get caught up following orders from a society that encourages you to take certain paths to chase money and lock in deals. However, when you stay in alignment and walk confidently in who you say you are, you’re able to add value beyond measure because you make space to serve whoever God places in your path.

In Purpose to Platform, my biggest lesson for the ladies is to surrender to the process and stop trying to force things to happen. This episode will showcase some ladies who honor the process and give God something to bless. Do you often find yourself unable to receive compliments or refusing opportunities that you know you’re qualified for? Do you overwork yourself to prove your worth?

If you’re not familiar with the term, imposter syndrome is the psychological pattern in which an individual doubts their skills, talents or accomplishments and has a persistent internalized fear of being exposed as a fraud. It convinces purpose chasers that we are not worthy of advancement and brings suffering to those who are in need of what we block ourselves from bringing to the marketplace.

In all honesty, at some point in our lives, we all have experienced imposter syndrome. I’ve witnessed so many women put chasing their purpose on pause because of comparison and fear that they were not good enough, not smart enough, or not worthy enough. In order to step confidently and completely into our god-given gifts, our future self needs us to overcome imposter syndrome.

In this episode, the ladies and I will be breaking down imposter syndrome and the three ways it can show up in your life. We also discuss how to let your light shine, how you celebrate every win, and how to combat imposter syndrome so that you can truly move from Purpose to Platform.

When I considered the idea of launching my Purpose 2 Platform coaching program, I wanted to provide women with stellar coaching and quality content, backed by a sisterhood and community that could carry them through the journey. I’ve witnessed so many women gain clarity and confidence from a one-on-one coaching call with me, but fall off in time due to doubt, no support, and lack of community.

When I think of progress and perfection, I can’t help but think of the story about the Tortoise and the Hare. If you remember this childhood classic, the Hare judged the Tortoise based solely on speed and challenged the Tortoise to a race.

From the outside looking in, one could predict the outcome of the race since tortoises are known to move very slow. The twist in this story came when the Hare started the race in full speed, then decided to stop and take a break after realizing how much further ahead he was. While the Hare rested, the Tortoise kept going and slowly but surely, ended up winning the race. The Hare is like many of us who discover our purpose and start running our race full speed. Unfortunately, we experience burnout early on because we failed to take the time to approach the race like the Tortoise with wisdom and strategy.

Many believe that chasing purpose is a race, when really it’s more like a marathon. In today’s episode of the Purpose 2 Platform Podcast, we will hear the stories of women who understand the value in progress over perfection, as well as what it takes to train for a marathon of purpose.

I don’t believe any of us can truly walk in purpose until we deal with our childhood trauma. We fail to realize how much our past trials and experiences shape us into the men and women that we are today and we have to push past trauma in order to fully utilize our God given gifts.

My earliest trauma dates back to age six, where I found myself scrubbing my skin in the bathtub hoping to find lighter skin underneath. I grew up feeling like I had to earn love and approval from my loved ones, and sought a lighter complexion that I believed was more accepted. This limiting belief led me to experience a lot of bullying regarding my appearance, and was so intense it took 22 years and countless therapy sessions to work toward accepting myself.

It’s time for us to transform our pain from something intended to hold us back into a tool that will propel us into purpose. Trauma is only temporary, don’t let it distract you from your destiny.

Purpose 2 Platform was born out of my desire to create the community that I didn’t have when I initially became an entrepreneur over 10 years ago.

Once I discovered my purpose, I realized that I didn’t have a way to share my gift. So, I promised myself that once I reached a place where I could give back, I would create for women the community, accountability, resources, and education that I didn’t have. I dedicated my work toward creating a platform to encourage and educate women in finance, and the outcome of my life lessons birthed the Purpose 2 Platform program.
