Awakened-Woman (AW) is designed to inspire, empower and encourage women to dig deep and become the woman they are meant to be. Listen to the secrets unleashed by its Founder, Yvette Bodden, and pop-up guests, as they are sure to help you on your personal journey to becoming the best self. None of it is easy but you can push through the pain to your purpose. This podcast is meant to open up a dialogue about the good, bad, ugly, and even the curious from different perspectives. Let's talk about all of it and learn from each other.
Honestly, I cannot recall when the fear of aging took over. However, I admit that it sometimes puts the fear of God in me, as they say. Luckily, women like Jennifer, Lopez, Halle, Berry, Oprah, and Sandra Bullock helped us feel empowered. The proof is in the pudding, we can thrive at any age, and life does not stop when you turn 50, 60, or 70. Life keeps going even after blowing out those candles.
Madeleine Marchant is one of these women. Madelin is the Miami-based actress from Cuba who plays Ines Campesino, the mother of Rosa Campesino on Apple TV Plus', Bad Monkey. The international crime drama hit stars Vince Vaughn and Natalie Martinez. The 10-episode series was co-created by Bill Lawrence, best known for hits like Ted Lasso and Shrink. A great one to add to your queue, if you haven't seen it. She was a theater teacher for 21 years to middle school students who proved that it's never too late to pursue your dreams. The 62-year-old, single mom is energetic and beautiful. The retired teacher opted to start a second act instead of opting for a quiet life. The leap of faith has certainly paid off!
Her passion for performing arts and the entertainment industry led her to join the cast of the Broadway musical On Your Feet. She played Consuelo, Gloria, Estefan's grandmother at the Gala Theater in Washington, DC. The performance won her praise from the Washington Post, and other critics leading to a nationwide tour. Her second act is keeping her busy and demonstrating that we can reinvent ourselves at any age.

Entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart, it's one of the hardest jobs you can choose. It is a journey of learning, mistakes, and exploration while we build the business and life we envision.
CEO and Co-Founder of Luna Magic Beauty, Mabel Frías says 'When we are in alignment with ourselves, that's when the magic happens."
The first time, I saw Mabel was in 2021 when she presented on Shark Tank with her C0-Founder and Co-Founder, Shaira Frias. They walked away from the show with a deal. It was the beginning of their entrepreneurial journey. In Oct 2023, I had the opportunity to meet her personally, at Luna Magic's Mentor event.
Today, they have taken the multi-million dollar brand to new heights. Their products are on the shelves of Target, Walmart, and CVS. Good Morning America, Allure, Telemundo, Cosmopolitan, Refinery 29, Opramagazine.com, People en Espanol, and many other platforms have sent praises. The accomplished entrepreneur has been on panels such as "2021 Royalty Society of Arts - Women Pay It Forward at Work" and received Glossier's Grant Initiative.
She received BA and MA degrees from New York University. The scholar is also a graduate of the UCLA Anderson MBA Riordan Fellowship Program and Executive Education Program at Stanford Graduate School of Business. Her impressive educational background complements her success with a winning track record, creating merchandising strategies for Macy's Nordstrom, Savage X Fenty by Rihanna, and other beauty, fashion, and lifestyle brands.
Mabel is a proud New Yorker who was raised in Uptown Manhattan. She is the daughter of Dominican immigrants and lives in Los Angeles with her daughter.
AW sat down with the powerhouse Latina to discuss motherhood, entrepreneurship, and sacrifices. She even gave us her best tips for success!Learn more about Luna Magic at www.lunamagic.com or www.mabelfrias.com

Do you ever feel like you are the only one living an unplanned life? Most of us are too.I followed the blueprint set for me at a young age. Get a straight-A education, go to college, secure a stable job with benefits, and hopefully, retire modestly, as the daughter of Dominican immigrants that was the American Dream for many. Getting married and starting a family was the expectation in the middle of this journey. It seemed like a reasonable plan but my parents did not quite prepare me for the sht#!storms that would come in and out of my life during this adventure.Recently, one of our lovely community members asked "How do you find yourself after a painful life event?"Everyone's journey is different. There is a lot of work to do before we can find ourselves. Reflection time is key as you figure out what is next. AW decided to explore fatherhood from the perspective of a father balancing a career, a relationship, and a son.
In 2022, Sean Frost won the Volkswagon Canada Gamechangers Award.
In 2024, he was named one of OK! Magazine's Top 15 Entrepreneurial Minds.
He is not only a successful Real Estate Broker but a visionary. Sean leads two licensed custom home building companies, Black River Homes and Elm Homes but he also, channels his creative spirit through, I AM SEAN FROST, INC., as a music producer.
His wins don't stop there either, he partners with Atletico Ottowa, and has collaborations with organizations like CHEO and The Ottowa Boys & Girls Club, working towards contributions that make the community and the world better for future generations.

"We are what we eat" is what I have heard, and there is a lot of truth to the statement. One of the key things that help me maintain healthy skin is not just the dermatologist appointments, products used, and nightly routine - it is also, what I put into my body.In this segment, I discuss my daily food habits. I have been eating clean for years now. It is not a perfect science, since I do have treat days. I also overindulge once in a while but then jump right back on the wagon.I hope this helps if you want to hear about an alternative to what you may be doing now.Note: Always check with your doctor or nutritionist before trying a new nutrition plan. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/womanawakened/messageSupport this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/womanawakened/support

Recently, I discovered The CEO-Panatela and The Founder-Robusto by LLC Cigars, premium authentic Dominican cigars. The brand was started by Candace Ford, who was named one of Houston's Top 50 Entrepreneurs. The philanthropist also empowers young women through the organization, Project Beautiful Me. A cigar smoker herself started the venture to create a space in the market that caters to women. Candace is changing the game in an industry, known to be male-dominated and we are here for it!Candace talked to AW about how her line of cigars, mentorship, empowerment of girls, and more!Learn more, visit https://llcigars.com/--- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/womanawakened/messageSupport this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/womanawakened/support

Warning: Some of the topics discussed in this episode may be triggering or upset persons sensitive to content related to trauma. The goal of this platform has been to blow the doors off topics that for decades have been taboo, ignored, or shameful in some way. Generational trauma can be a bad word in our community. The cycle of trauma is passed down across generations and impacts families physically, mentally, emotionally, and psychologically. It is important to understand that trauma can stem from biological or learned behaviors and can happen to an individual or group of people. The most commonly known generational trauma can derive from abuse, such as domestic violence, and physical, emotional, or sexual abuse but there are others. Substance abuse, depression, poverty, genocide, emotional numbness, slavery, war, natural disasters, and even difficulty trusting others. We may not necessarily pass on the traumatic experience but can transmit the anxiety to our younger generations, as early as, in utero.Like many of us, April Hernandez-Castillio has lived through generational trauma but has broken the cycle. The Actress, Author, Speaker, and Creative Director at Lionchaser Media is best known for her performance in the film "Freedom Writers," starring Hillary Swank. In it, she played the character Eva, the convincing role of a tough Latina gang member. Her career had just started to take off but behind the scenes in her real life, April was secretly dealing with a traumatic past. The Latina grew up in the mean streets of The Bronx in New York City during the crack epidemic era. Her struggles began at home with a mother who was dealing with her own trauma, while April was in a relationship with an abusive boyfriend during her teenage years. Where does the phrase Gaslighting come from? The term derives from a 1940s movie called "Gas Light." The premise involves a husband who distorts his wife's reality to make her feel crazy. Current day, the phrase is being used to describe psychological manipulation. This behavior is damaging, it can trigger mental health issues like anxiety and depression. Also, you can be gaslighted not only by a romantic partner but a family member, friend, or boss.
I didn't know any better the first time it happened to me. The term had not been invented for the abusive behavior my boyfriend was exposing me to at the time.
Have you ever been gaslighted? Would you know what it looks like if it happened to you?
In this episode, Host, Yvette Bodden shares a very personal experience with gaslighting, red flags to watch out for, and some helpful tips to protect yourself against this type of abuse.

Mental Health has been a hot topic for the last few years. Cases of anxiety and depression have been on the rise since the beginning of the CoVid-19 pandemic. In 2022, the WHO (World Health Organization) reported a 25% increase in people affected by the disorders. This is an important subject that will not go away. Many are in therapy or taking medication, others are considering therapy, while there is a part of the population still skeptical and does not believe in therapy. We can't ignore the numbers and need to educate ourselves about the dangers of poor mental health. In this episode, AW talks to Veronica M. Olivares about what is mental health and why it is critical to prioritize it, warning signs you or a loved one may need help, key mental health advice for anyone struggling in silence, dealing with our trauma, and how do you know when it is time to seek help. We also discussed what is therapy, how to choose the right therapist for you, and much more. The holistic psychotherapist in private practice empowers women to reconnect with their true selves so they can take leadership in their healing. She has a background of training in EMDR, psychoanalysis, dance/movement therapy, and somatic attachment. Her work includes offering therapy to women in NJ and FL via individual and group work. She is also a part-time Lecturer at Rutgers University in Social Work. Her 6-week course on Holistic Emotional Health Education online and at Stockton University is currently in development. She has also hosted The Daily Smile and Call Me Curious, now she is back with another out-of-the-box production called "Near Death." In this show, she is joined by Chaplain Peggy and they discuss dying, sometimes have gin martinis and some laughs. Not what you thought, right - it isn't and so worth listening to! The word "death" makes us feel sad, hurt, and afraid. We've all lost someone or know someone who has, it's scary and painful when you have to accept that you will never the person you care about, again. There are countless questions, and most of the answers are unknown. Maybe, if we talk about it more, we can feel less afraid. In this episode, Nikki and I got candid about dying. So, if you have reservations, you may want to save this one for later, but if you are brave enough to listen, it can offer some comfort and healing. If you were raised in a Dominican, Puerto Rican, or Cuban household, chances are that you've had some exposure to the spirit world. Maggie Santos is an angelic medium, who I recently met through a friend. I thought it would be fun to get a live mini-reading on this episode and dig a little deeper into the mysterious world of mediums. There are different types of mediums, Maggie communicates with the angels of the spirit world. I was not ready for what she was going to tell me but I admit, it was super accurate! Hopefully, listening to this episode will give you a little more understanding about mediums - how their gift can help others, misconceptions, and the importance of energy in your own life.

Listen as we leave it all on the table in this episode. Real talk about early beginnings, odd jobs before acting career took off - one of them took me by surprise but he was gracious and incredibly funny with his response. No fluff, as he shares past and present. The actor also discussed his latest role, Latino representation in Hollywood, and his upbringing, including growing up as an identical twin. Every episode of the AW Confidential Podcast is special. In some way, I am left inspired or empowered by each guest. Sasha Merci's interview hit differently because I can see myself in her, as will many others.
As the daughter of Dominican immigrants, raised in New York, I connected with the Comedian-Actress. I'm grateful for the opportunity to have her on our platform.
The Bronx native has used her personal experiences as a 2nd generation Dominican to help our community open dialogue on topics that may have been taboo years ago. Her first love was music but she shifted to an art form that offered her more freedom of expression and creative autonomy. Comedy.
Sasha's credits include El Teteo Parties, the film De Lo Mio, the Fuse series, Share, Like, Dimelo, and collaborations with Bumble, AT&T, Heineken, and others.
Listen as we discuss our Dominican roots including family, the dream, the use of words Hispanic, Latina, Latine, Latinx, El Teteo Parties, and the new film role in Righteous Thieves.
Now, we will see her as "Nadia" in the Lionsgate film, "Righteous Thieves" which premiered in select theatres, On Digital, and On Demand.

This podcast is a way of exploring different perspectives on all topics, even the skeptical ones. Many live, only believing what they see but there is so much that is unknown in our universe. We often try to deny or rationalize the things that don't make sense or have a logical explanation. People are fascinated by movies that deal with the subject of paranormal or supernatural. However, men and women remain incredulous about unique experiences that deal with this alternate universe. Shortly, after watching "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" I explored this topic with expert, Christopher Chacon, one of the world's authorities on the scientific exploration of the supernatural, paranormal, and mystic. He is an expert and Parapsychologist with 40 years of experience, who has appeared on shows like 20/20, National Geographic Explorer, Unsolved Mysteries, Sightings, Eye to Eye with Connie Chung, and NBC News.
