February is Black History Month. MPOWERD is dedicating our second episode to centering black voices. On today’s episode, you’ll hear from four powerful black women who will share their personal and professional narratives, their fight for equity, and their hopes for the future.
We had the pleasure of interviewing Michaela King, an emerging millennial teacher on the island of Guam who will share what it's like teaching through a pandemic and how she is overcoming other challenges that teachers face. Michaela is a Luta-raised educator currently teaching on the island of Guåhan. Michaela received her B.A. in Education from Unibetsedåt Guåhan and is on the path of becoming a Social Studies teacher. Michaela aspires to return to her home island of Luta to challenge existing barriers to education and cultivate meaningful learning experiences for Luta's youth.
