In this podcast we are on a journey into the weird world of church people. Why is it that church people do the things they do, say the things they say, and live the way they live? We are here to reduce fear and increase understanding of the people trying to follow the message of Jesus Christ.
In this continuation of our series, Jaken interviews Johnnie Meadors, a preacher from his church in Sturgis, KY. They discuss coming into the church the first time, struggles with answering God’s call, and leaving the church and coming back. Also featured are a few dog barks, grill sizzles, and Jaken’s nephew. Maybe they stepped away, maybe they were never really in it. But somehow they made the radical shift from the outside to the inside. Simon Sinek introduced the concept of "The Golden Circle" in his book and TED Talk about starting with Why. Typically when trying to share a concept we tell what it is, maybe even how to do it, but if we really want to change things we have to consider why. Today I'm sharing a bit about why it is that the central statement of our show is true, "Church people are weird." Or at the very least I'll tell you why this particular member of the church community is.
