Waver Behavior: Recent Episodes

Jordan Blackner

You ever look at something and wonder “What just happened?” while making the thinking emoji face? That was rhetorical, of course you have. Because we’re all freakin weirdos and no matter how much psychologists study human behavior, we still have no explanation why people are constantly changing and unpredictable. One of the definitions of waver is to “become unsteady or unreliable” and the WAVERing patterns in our society sure do keep us on our toes but also very entertained. This podcast explores human behavior and the beautiful earth that inhabits them.

What happened to the beautiful world of interaction and communication between one another? Did we all just get too comfortable living in a simulation during the pandemic while in isolation. We were already pretty bad with eye contact but now its become more of a problem than anything while meeting someone. It's time for us to bond with one another as humans and make our interactions with others feel 10x more important and accepted.

A lot of you have experienced anxiety or known somebody who has, it is not a fun thing to be stuck with. Anxiety affects your mood anxiety affects your actions. I could go on and on about this topic for hours because it hits home deep with me. But there's only so many words to describe what anxiety feels like or what a panic attack does to a person and their behavior.

We've all had that grey cloud follow us once in a while, and with that, depression follows. You don't feel your true self, you cant eat or sleep or exercise. You turn self destructive and you get caught up in yourself so much that you feel as though you may explode. Or you just want to die, to make it stop, to make the pain and hurt all go away. Depression is a battle but it all eventually stops after you pick up good healthy habits again.

Tone has the capability of conveying a whole different message than how it was intended. Sarcasm can confuse or clarify messages. Basically, tone is everything while sending a message verbal or over text because tone shows the emotion behind the message which essentially overpowers any message that was trying to be received.

Of course everyone is gonna wanna sound all high and mighty, and say that personality is more important than looks. And you yourself might even agree, but if you think humans are initially attracted to beauty then you've never heard the saying "Love at first sight." I've come to the conclusion that personality and looks go hand in hand, and they both fulfill each others qualities.

Today we talk about how money can only buy so much, but it can't buy happiness. Happiness is formed from natural experiences or effects but it can't be bought with money because happiness and joy are emotional things. Like Forrest Gump said "There's only so much money a man really needs, the rest is just for showing off”

What's more important, the amount of followers one has or the amount of wealth and prosperity for one's family? Well the second option ain't gotta be your only option but I'll tell you right now the first option is always the wrong one. We as a society have become addicted to feeding our online personality more than our actual living talking real personality.

We are all bad at texting. But why though? We all feel the frustration of someone else not responding to us promptly so why is it so easy to not text back even when we are totally available? Today we look at both perspectives of texting because we all experience both sides of the conflict. People have a device that has the capability too send instant messages to another person who has the same device. We have been given this gift of a form of communication, and yet we still struggle to communicate with each other with integrity.

Over the course of quarantine, people have been doing spring cleaning, non-stop all year long! It's time to get rid of your junk and start living the minimalist lifestyle, at least that's what the majority of people are thinking. However, a new item has been added to the list of throwaways: people. Ghosting has always been around, but during the last 2 years, people have blocked out long time friends and family due to the fact that it's so much easier to do while we're isolated.

The world has been struck with a pandemic and put our lives as we knew them, on hold. While everybody has tried adapting to this new lifestyle, there's been one big element that became politicized faster than the pandemic itself: masks. We all hate wearing them, yet we're still divided on the issue. The fact that it has become an issue says enough because this should be the last on the list of prioritizing global issues but we're human so we're bound to stir things up with each other.

Everybody knows the universal debate on how Rock, Paper, Scissors is played, whether its on shoot or 3 or scissors. Today we probably won't settle the debate, but we will learn about the origins of the game. Also, we talk about real life events where rock paper scissors has settled a real debate itself like in a court case or for a business deal.

FOMO-the fear of missing out. The arch nemesis of social media known as FOMO has caused so much anxiety and depression in the last 20 years and it continues to haunt us as we isolate ourselves during this struggling pandemic. We all have had moments where we've felt left out whether it's not being invited to a party or not getting picked for a team, or even buying a product just based on the fact that everybody else is getting it. In this episode we scrutinize the damaging effects of FOMO and FOBO and how we can prevent ourselves from feeling this way. The only party your missing out on in is with yourself and your dreams.

Comparisons are happening all around us whether it's with ourselves or towards others. We've been comparing each other since we were little kids on the playground, yet little did we know it would shape our whole lives and the paths we take. When you're in your 20s, you're getting pulled in all sorts of directions and I feel like half the time we don't really know what we're doing, we're just stuck on autopilot coasting through life. How BORING is that?! In this episode we talk about the dangers of comparison and how limited perspectives can prevent us from reaching our real life goals as well as how we can learn how to push past the fear of being judged!

Everyone knows someone who is fake. Everyone has acted fake before. Why do we do it when our authentic selves are more than sufficient? And even though social media has made it almost impossible not to compare yourself to others, why do we care more about our appearance to the outside world instead of what's going on in our own minds? I don't know if its insecurity or trying to be cool, or both! But in this episode we dive into the behavior surrounding fake personalities and appearances in our society.
