In this episode, we interview our mothers about their reproductive and birthing experiences. We found that our mothers echo various modules covered throughout our course, such as the different degrees to which births are medicalized, both the joys and challenges of motherhood, the importance of a support network for new and expectant mothers, and the difficult decision of whether or not to return to work following childbirth. Our project not only allowed us to apply the themes we learned throughout the semester in this new context, but it also pushed us to challenge the social norms we grew up accepting as we think about the role reproduction will play in each of our lives as well.
This episode explores the creation of unauthorized immigrants as a legal and social group. The term "illegal" in the United States establishes a narrative that unauthorized persons leech off of US resources and infest US societal morays. In this episode, an interview with a longstanding attorney in Immigration Law offers insight into how this threat narrative impacts unauthorized persons economic, social, and political mobility in the US.
On this episode, we will discuss the folk tales native to India and the Navajo Nation. This podcast aims to expose traditional understandings of gender and sexuality and how globalization and colonialization distorted our notions of queerness.
