The effects of climate change already have, and will increasingly have a significant impact on the practice and discourse of security policy. This includes measures states, regions or cities have to take in the transition from assessing climate threats towards climate adaptation, already taking place in several countries as climate-related disasters have proliferated, as well as those measures neighbouring regions or states have to take in dealing with anticipated flows of migration or increase in conflict in areas affected by climate change.
