In a recent conversation with Texas Slim, the founder of the Beef Initiative, we delved into the pressing issues surrounding our food supply. Slim, a seasoned rancher from the Texas Panhandle, shared his insights on the industrial agricultural complex, the importance of regenerative farming, and the alarming trends in our food consumption.
The Industrial Agricultural Complex
Slim highlighted the significant shift in our food supply chain, from community-based production to a global industrial food system. He noted, āOur food used to come from our communities in the United States of America.ā However, the consolidation and centralization of mass corporations have drastically changed this landscape.
āThereās a global industrial food shift thatās happening. If you look at the macro level of the world, of the, of, of supply chain lines, of, uh, the consolidations and centralization of uh, mass corporations that do supply us food, supply us the seed of that food, things are changing.ā ā Texas Slim
Slim also raised concerns about the increasing number of chemicals in our food supply. He pointed out that the FDA approved over 2,000 new chemicals for use in our food supply in 2022 alone. These chemicals, often unpronounceable and unknown to consumers, have long-term effects on our health.
āWeāre consuming things that we donāt know what weāre consuming. And a lot of times, these chemicals [00:12:00] that we are consuming, you know, they have a, have an after effect that you donāt see for maybe a decade.ā ā Texas Slim
In response to these challenges, Slim founded the Beef Initiative, a platform that connects consumers directly with ranchers. The initiative aims to bypass the corporate middleman and provide high-quality beef from ranch to door.
āThe biggest bottleneck of them not being able to do that in the, in the recent past is that bottleneck of the processing center. So, whenever we control the processing center, we control the market access. That is what the biggest thing that we offer within the Beef Initiative.ā ā Texas Slim
Slimās message is a call to action for individuals to take control of their food consumption. He emphasizes the need for a new form of food intelligence and a shift from competition to collaboration.
āItās time to wake up. Itās time to say okay I the parent I, the individual that wants to live happy and free and wants to have good health, [00:42:00] I need to probably take a step back and develop a new protocol, and I need to educate myself. Thereās a new form of food intelligence that needs to come.ā ā Texas Slim
In conclusion, Texas Slimās insights provide a sobering look at the current state of our food supply and the urgent need for change. His work with the Beef Initiative offers a promising alternative, one that prioritizes health, community, and sustainability over profit.

In a recent podcast, we had the opportunity to sit down with Dr. Marion Mass, a pediatrician from the Philadelphia suburbs who is not just a healer, but a champion for patients, physicians, and truth. She shared her insights on the American healthcare system, its issues, and potential solutions.
The Crisis in American Healthcare
Dr. Mass began the discussion by highlighting the crisis in the American healthcare system. āYouāve heard the whispers, the rumors of discontent, the colossal corporations, the costs that are not just climbing but skyrocketing. The labyrinth of red tape, designed to baffle and bewilder. But what if I told you itās worse? Far worse than youāve been led to believe.ā
Dr. Mass discussed the problem of large corporations in the healthcare system, explaining how they contribute to increasing costs and decreasing quality of care. She mentioned the consolidation of hospitals, insurance companies, and pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) as significant issues. āHealthcare is a big job of the hut beast. And itās like job of the hut, but, like, with little octopus arms going underneath like the witch and the little mermaid. Like, so picture each of those arms is like, Sucking away, like, your wages because healthcare is costing more.ā
She provided examples of how these large corporations can negatively impact patient care, such as UnitedHealthcare reducing reimbursements for physicians without negotiation and the high cost of insulin due to the monopolistic practices of a few large companies.
Dr. Mass talked about the role of PBMs in managing prescription drugs, explaining how they can influence the cost of drugs and the amount pharmacies get paid. She also discussed conflicts of interest when insurance companies own PBMs.
She discussed the hidden costs in healthcare, particularly in hospitals, and the lack of transparency in pricing. āSo letās talk about that bag of saline, which once again, like the vial of insulin, that bag of saline costs about 10 bucks to make. But thereās been charges like yours, you know, 1, 200 for that bag of saline, 700 for that bag of saline.ā
Towards the end of the discussion, Dr. Mass mentioned a bill that passed unanimously out of the Energy and Commerce Committee, which aims to increase transparency in healthcare, including transparency of ownership. She also emphasized the need for the American people to become the single payer. āAs long as they can see what theyāre paying, they can see the conflicts of interest. They can cut the glut out of the system, and they can make everyone in the system play by the same rules. This could work out great. Letās go! Giddy up!ā
In conclusion, Dr. Mass left us with a powerful message: āAmerica, you better get and stay healthy because all this work that a lot of other people and myself are doing to try to Open the books, cut the glut and make everyone play by the same rules. It might not work. Weāre David fighting Goliath, you know, and itās a big Goliath out there. And we need, we need lots of warriors to help. We need, and all we have is our health, but like, thatās all we have.ā

Fasting has been the subject of numerous studies in recent years, with a focus on its potential health benefits. Some of the latest research suggests that fasting may have a positive effect on weight loss, insulin sensitivity, and inflammation. Intermittent fasting, in which individuals alternate between periods of eating and abstaining from food, has been found to be particularly effective for weight loss and improving markers of metabolic health. Additionally, research has shown that fasting may have anti-aging effects and may even help to reduce the risk of certain diseases, such as cancer and Alzheimer's. However, it is important to note that more research is needed to fully understand the potential benefits and drawbacks of fasting, and that fasting may not be appropriate for everyone. It is always a good idea to speak with a healthcare professional before starting a fasting regimen.

Stacking skills will always advance you. Why? Because skills are currency. They're what you offer in exchange for money, opportunity, and experiences. The better skills you have, the more valuable you are, and the more doors will be open to you.
Of course, not all skills are created equal. Some skills are in higher demand than others, and some skills are more difficult to learn than others. But regardless of where your skills fall on those spectrums, developing a skillset that is multi-faceted and well-rounded will always be an asset.
In today's world, entrepreneurship is lauded as one of the most desirable skillsets a person can have. And while entrepreneurship certainly has its merits, it's not the only skill that can help you create success for yourself. In fact, stacking skills ā that is, developing a diverse range of skillsets ā is often a far better strategy for long-term success.
Why? Because when you have multiple skillsets at your disposal, you become infinitely more adaptable and resourceful. You're able to see problems from different angles and find creative solutions that others might not be able to see. You're able to wear many different hats and play many different roles within a single organization. You're able to start your own business with less risk because you already have multiple revenue streams coming in.
In short, stacking skills makes you a superhuman ā someone who is infinitely more valuable than someone with just a single skillset. So if you want to create true success for yourself, start stacking skills now. The sky's the limit from there!

One of the most important things we can do in life is to try and understand our own biases. We all have them, and they can distort our view of the world in all sorts of ways. If we don't understand our biases, we may make bad decisions that have harmful consequences for ourselves and others. There are many different kinds of biases, but some of the most common are confirmation bias, self-serving bias, and sunk cost bias. Confirmation bias is when we tend to seek out information that confirms our existing beliefs, while self-serving bias is when we interpret information in a way that favors ourselves. Sunk cost bias is when we continue to invest in something even after it's clear that it's not worth it, simply because we've already invested so much. If we can become aware of these biases, we can start to make better decisions in all areas of our lives.
loss aversion is a natural human tendency that we can all relate to. But just because it's natural doesn't mean we have to give in to it. There are ways we can overcome our natural inclination to avoid losses, and make decisions that are more rational and objective. By understanding how loss aversion works, and what its limitations are, we can make better decisions in both our personal and professional lives. Thanks for listening. I hope you found this useful. Now go out there and make some decisions!

You can't control everything in your life, but you can control how you react to circumstances. journey. It's important to remember that you are in control of your own happiness. You can't always control what happens to you, but you can always control how you react to it. plans. The journey of life is full of ups and downs, but it's how you react to the downs that determines whether or not you'll make it to the top. If you let every setback keep you from reaching your goals, then you'll never reach your full potential. So, next time something doesn't go according to plan, don't get discouraged - just dust yourself off and keep going. Because in the end, it's not about the destination - it's about the journey. And as long as you're moving forward, you're on the right track.

For centuries, mushrooms and plants have been used as medicine to help people live longer, healthier lives. In recent years, science has begun to catch up with what traditional cultures have known for ages, and there is now a growing body of evidence showing that mushrooms and plants can indeed have powerful health benefits. mushrooms are particularly rich in compounds that support cognitive health and protect the brain against age-related decline. What's more, mushrooms and plants contain substances that can help to improve mood and mental wellbeing. So if you're looking for a way to boost your longevity, cognition, and mental health, mushrooms and plants are a good place to start.

When weāre fearful, we tend to want to control everything. We donāt want to delegate because weāre afraid that things wonāt get done the way we want them to. Asking for help can also be difficult because it makes us feel vulnerable. But the truth is, we canāt do everything ourselves and we need help from others in order to succeed. Trying to control everything or go it alone is a recipe for burnout.

After spending years battling a severe eating disorder as a result of a multitude of traumas and low self-worth, I found the strength to regain my health and reclaim my life. Before my recovery, I allowed the shame I carried from a difficult past keep me from living my life freely. I lived in fear of being judged and never felt that who I was could ever be enough. I was wrong. Once I made the decision to make the changes necessary to be happy, I was finally able to enjoy my life in ways I never could have imagined. In 2007, I founded the Fit vs Fiction Body Image workshops, an interactive workshop for parents, kids and teachers that empowers kids to live with healthy self-esteem in an image obsessed society. I have been named one of Canadaās Top 100 Health Leaders by Optimyz Fitness and wellness magazine for 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 and have published two books.
I share my story openly and honestly so that others can feel safe sharing their own struggles and concerns with me.

When it comes to increasing the perceived value of something, the best way to do it is fast. That's because value is all about perception. And the faster you can change someone's perception, the more value you can create.
There are a few ways to do this. One is to use scarcity. If something is scarce, people naturally perceive it as being more valuable. So if you can create a sense of scarcity, you can instantly increase value.
Another way to increase value is to create a sense of urgency. This is why "limited time offers" are so effective. By creating a sense of urgency, you make people feel like they need to act now or they'll miss out. And that increases the perceived value of whatever it is you're selling.
You can also increase value by making your product or service more exclusive. This is why Etsy sellers always talk about how their products are one-of-a-kind or hand-made. It's because those things are seen as being more valuable than mass-produced items.
If you want to increase the perceived value of what you're selling, focus on making it more exclusive, scarce, or urgent. Do that, and you'll see an instant uptick in value.

We all make mistakes. We all screw up from time to time. And sometimes, those screw-ups can hurt the people we care about the most. That's why it's so important to learn how to forgive. forgiveness is not just something that we do for other people - it's something we do for ourselves. It's a way of letting go of the anger and resentment that can eat away at us from the inside. And it's not always easy. But it is always worth it.

Dr. Yoho and I sat down to discuss his book "Butchered by Healthcare".
www.DrYohoAuthor.com
www.MeetJames.com
Healthcare is the top cause of all our overdue debts and personal bankruptcy. Our medical spending per person is double that of other countriesā, but fully half the treatments are ineffective or harmful. Immense, predatory industries such as angioplasty and coronary artery bypass surgery victimize us. These procedures cause complications and deaths, but few patients survive even a day longer. Most back and endoscopic knee surgeries are equally worthless.
Seventy percent of us are on prescriptions, and 20 percent take over five. One in six uses psychiatric medicine, which commonly causes irreversible brain damage and premature death. Millions are now addicted to prescription opioids. Ninety-three thousand people died in 2020 from overdoses.
The FDA allows big Pharma to falsify the studies required to patent drugs. These corporations hire armies of ghostwriters to stuff websites and medical journal articles with marketing lies. Finding the truth is now nearly impossible. But all this gets overlooked as the companies pay billions of dollars in criminal settlements nearly every year.
Money short-circuits everyoneās integrity, but there is an alternative. Patients and doctors can still prevail. Learn the system, and you can too.

[00:00:00] Thomas White: So depression, anxiety is a top reason, but they use it for pain management. They use it for better sleep and use it for just general wellness. So to, I I'm I'm.
[00:00:10] Thankful that they are allowing us to continue to do this
[00:00:15] James Miller: That is today's guest Thomas to white, the CEO of exact nature, a CBD nutraceutical company, targeting people recovering from drug addiction. My name is James and my mission is to awaken, enlighten, and inspire others to better ways of living my other interests, lie in biohacking and longevity research, and also adjunct alternative therapies in addiction medicine. And today we're going to dive right into that and here, thomas tells me a little bit about his past
[00:00:47] Thomas White: Yeah.
[00:00:48] Well, I was.
[00:00:49] My, my profession has been marketing. So I worked, I worked as a marketing for
[00:00:53] the majority of my career and I worked at it for the federal government. I was the peace Corps.
[00:00:58] I was a peace Corps volunteer came back and [00:01:00] became the press secretary. I did corporate marketing for the Seagram's corporation.
[00:01:04] Ironically, I was always in the wine division. And then I worked for as a chief marketing officer for a number of universities. So professionally I was doing well. At the same time, boy, my addiction was really starting to, to
[00:01:18] to grow and to become a problem. And I was, I was thinking
[00:01:21] deeper into this
[00:01:22] addiction and
[00:01:24] 13 years ago now, well, 14 years ago I went to rehab.
[00:01:28] And for the first year after rehab, I relapsed a number of times until
[00:01:33] in that first year after rehab. People were alarm that knew I'd gone to rehab, but I was starting to get, are starting to string a few days. And then a few weeks, finally, a few months together. And now I've had 13 years of solid sobriety and I have two sons ages, 23 and 21, the 23 year old has suffered from addictions
[00:01:54] himself. So he and I together founded this company that we have now. And [00:02:00] our whole focus is.
[00:02:01] It is CBD for people in addiction.

[00:00:00] James: Awaken enlighten and inspire to better ways of living. My name is James, and this is the meet James show where I seek to inspire others through my own curiosity. And today we are talking about. One of the most popular. Men most highly rated nootropics. One that I use every single day. And it's one that is within reach and that is caffeine and L-Theanine
[00:00:24] I mean most people. particularly people who are poor caffeine metabolizers. Often experience negative side effects of caffeine, including jitters. Nervousness. And by adding L-Theanine. To their coffee or their caffeine intake. This smooths out the jitters. I absolutely love it. It gives me several hours of really intense focus every morning.
[00:00:50] So for this stack, use a ratio of four parts two one part caffeine. So for example, 400 [00:01:00] milligrams of L-Theanine with 100 milligrams of caffeine, which would be about a cup and a half of coffee. But if we're being honest, our coffee cups at home, or are at least 12 ounces. So. You may want to start with a smaller dose, such as 200 milligrams of L-theanine.
[00:01:16] I mean, just to see how your body adjust to it. Typically dissolve it under my tongue, but you can blend it with your coffee depending on the form that you purchased. I use a pure extract form that I have of L-Theanine, meaning that I absolutely love because it has sort of a sweet taste to it. And it, it dissolves very easily under my tongue.
[00:01:34] So the beauty of the stack is that. Nature has already given us a perfect kind of pre-packaged combination of caffeine. And Now, here we are manually adjusting these compounds. Into our intake, but , this combination of molecules occurs in nature. Most notably The highest caffeine and
[00:01:54] Dean and content found in tea leaves is actually in black tea and hours. When I read that, I [00:02:00] remember thinking, you know, I drink a lot of sweet tea growing up. Now, aside from the high glycemic load that you're taking with a sweet tea I remember being, having a very smooth black tea drinking experience.
[00:02:11] Now, second to that is. Is green tea and also has a very nice level of L-Theanine a small level of caffeine.
[00:02:22] Caffeine and LTE and a make a particularly convenient combination. During times when you don't want the excess stimulation of caffeine. In isolation. Such as a leak. The evening dinner or the later stages of a Workday. So when a cup of coffee by itself might keep you awake at night. Have a little healthy eating with it.
[00:02:42] And it will smooth it out. There are some brands that mix in into their coffee, blends, different cold-brew blends, like super coffee. They are not sponsored on the show, but that is one that I particularly love to drink when I'm not adding an in myself. It's much more affordable to, to add it into your coffee or [00:03:00] supplement it yourself.
[00:03:01] And you can find those on Amazon. And I can post a few links of those, if you would like to follow up with those yourself. My name is James and I hope you found a real value in this today. I'm talking about one of my favorite nootropic combinations that is caffeine and L-Theanine. The full transcription of this podcast episode is available on our website@meetjames.com.
