Charlie Mike : A Podcast from Santos Picacio: Recent Episodes

Santos G. Picacio Jr.

I’m Santos Picacio and have been leading men and women in some capacity for the past 30 years. I’m a retired military officer, originally from Southern Texas and decided to settle down with my lovely wife here in the Lilac City of Spokane, WA. I decided to make a podcast due to many organizations taking on new leaders and expecting them to “lead” yet not taking the time to show them how to do so. I wanted to make a podcast that would be able to “virtually” teach, coach, and mentor other leaders both junior and senior across a myriad of organizations. Ask me questions, leave comments (both good and bad) and bring topics to me that you’d like me to discuss. Leadership is a two way learning model; being able to collaborate with listeners, peers and senior leaders alike, I’ve learned so much! Thank you for stopping by and giving me a listen! Sincerely, Santos G. Picacio Jr.Creator - Charlie Mike

In today's episode, we're diving deep into a personal development topic that many ask me about and that’s how to recover from burnout. Burnout is a very real thing and can happen both on or off the job. If not caught early, burnout can lead to health problems, psychological issues, and a complete shutdown of your body altogether.

In today's episode, we're diving deep into a leadership topic many ask me about, the difference between a leader and a supervisor. I've also heard this as a leader versus a boss. Oh, you can bet there is a difference, and those who can't see the difference probably don't have a great rapport with their team or organization. I want to pick this one apart because there is a time to use both, and if you can master when to use both, you'll be a leader who can earn your organization's trust and respect.

In today's episode, we're diving deep into a personal development topic that many ask me how to renew your why. We all have those days where suddenly our purpose in life hits the wall; we're up against it now, and we forgot or have lost the reason we do something; we may be getting in a rut or have become complacent in the quote-unquote same old thing day in and day out. Renewing your why is such a relevant and vital form of hitting that reset button and realizing why you started something in the first place or why you keep doing what you love doing after it has maybe lost its luster.

Welcome back to Charlie Mike, the podcast where we explore the keys to living a fulfilling and purposeful life through discussions on leadership, motivation, and a positive lifI'mI'm your host, Santos Picacio, and today'sy's episodwe're're diving deep into a very sensitive topic that unfortunately we hear all too much about. More than 50,000 Americans died due to suicide in 2023; a staggering number in it’s own right, more than any other year on record, according to NBC news. While suicide is not an easy subject to talk about, how do we support a friend or family member who has just lost someone to suicide? How do we comfort those who may feel lost and broken due to the loss of someone close to them? This conversation has to be handled with empathy, dignity, understanding, and respect. We will discuss some things you can do to make sure you lend the proper support and be a caring listening ear to those suffering from this tragedy.

I had the honor of sitting with my dear friend and restaurant owner, Mr. David Hayes, owner, and operator of North Hill on Garland Restaurant. I asked him some tough questions about where he started, his leadership philosophies, and how he leads his team in a very competitive and sometimes unforgiving industry.

David was candid, gentlemanly, and shared some very intimate portions of his life that shed some light on traditional leadership traits that, if used correctly, never waiver and are still value-added today!  www.northhillongarland.com
