Hello and welcome to the Weird Wonderful Wanders podcast where we journey in places together with my guests and listen to their strange and inspiring stories. I’m Claire Casely, The Faery Whisperer, a wanderer between the realms with a love of nature and the supernatural tales which simmer beneath the landscape’s surface.

I've decided to end this podcast and start another called 'Faery Whispering' - Episode 1 is out for Winter Solstice - 7pm on 21st December.
I decided that I wanted to get back to my first love – which is faeries! My inspiration for this podcast is the connection that I feel to the faeries, magick and the natural world and the wellbeing and inspiration that can be experienced from that connection. I call myself a Faery Whisperer, someone who can hear and interpret the whispers from the Otherworld and what I do faery whispering. For a few years I led a beautiful community on Facebook with that name, which members said provided a little pocket of hope and sanctuary; something many of us are searching for in these changing times. So I thought ‘Why not make this into a podcast’?. My hope is that you will come along and listen with an open heart, in turn, open the doorway to the otherworld a little further and let the light illuminate your path to a wiser, happier, more peaceful place.

A gentle and nourishing wander for you that I recorded on a warm June day at summer Solstice on Dartmoor with writer Rosey Oakes. I met Rosey by St Winifred’s Church in the picturesque village of Manaton and she led me on a lovely walk up to mysterious Manaton Rocks, which are straight out of a ‘Lord of the Rings’ type landscape! The views from the top are glorious.
Along the way, we passed ‘Half Moon House’ which belonged to Jeanne Du Maurier, sister of famous author Daphne, and found an abundance of honeysuckle and bird song. Rosey shares some of the local history with me and her experience of living in a house with a ghost who liked to listen to bedtime stories and play with the light switch!
I also share about how my interest in faeries began and this and my creativity has supported my wellbeing.
I've interwoven my recording of the Green Tara mantra and the old folk song Daisy, Daisy - they seemed to complement each other! Practising Kirtan, singing mantras, is one of the things that supports me with my wellbeing, as well as 'breath work' which is meditating on the breath. Hello and Welcome to Weird Wonderful Wanders with me Claire Casely, this is a very special episode in support of anti-bullying week here in the UK, from 14th to 18th November. I talk with my oldest and closest friend, who wishes to remain anonymous (I refer to her as ‘Sophie’), about our experience of being bullied at school and our friendship which helped us get through.
I’ve named the episode ‘Reach Out’, which is the theme of this year’s anti-bullying week. It also refers to how Sophie reached out to me a couple of years ago to get back in touch; I’m so pleased that she did.
The artwork that I created for this episode celebrates those two brave girls whose friendships transformed each other’s tears into a rainbow of hope. The imagery is inspired by the children in the 1960 science fiction horror film Village of the Damned, set in the fictional village of Midwich. The film is based on the John Wyndham book The Midwich Cuckoos, which is now a TV series.

For this special Halloween episode I’m sharing a recording of my dad, Steve, recounting a ghostly encounter, which he had as a young man.
Also, I retell, in my own words two spooky, short stories, from my grandfather Jim Casely. Plus a story from family friend AJ Williams, who grew up on Dartmoor and now lives in BC Canada.
My grandfather was a great storyteller and I credit him with encouraging my interest in the paranormal and storytelling.
Our final tale comes from a family friend, AJ Williams Ghost Story. AJ grew up in Lustleigh, Dartmoor.

Hello and Welcome Dear Listener!
This time on Weird Wonderful Wanders...my guest is Jim Skiff. Jim is an award winning composer, actor, playwright and recording artist who has released three solo albums - Flower and Sword...Jim has released three solo albums: Sky and Lake, Rooted, Flower and Sword. More recently, Jim released The Skiffs debut EP, Don't Ask Questions (2019), and The Skiffs EP, Inner City Jitters (2020), in collaboration with his daughter, Erin Skiff.
I’m thankful to Jim recording voice overs for my podcast!
We had a fantastic chat about his orb experiences, starting with the first one in 1978/1979. In a scene that sounds like its right out of the film 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind', he and his father witnessed three orbs approaching them from the sky whilst they were sat in their truck at a stop sign!
As you will hear, this first encounter led on to a whole series of coincidences and other strange events with orbs - including some appearing on the artwork for his first album 'Flower and Sword' and on the artwork for his single 'Indian Summer. This beautiful track is interwoven throughout this episode. It’s very apt for this time of year, being autumn with the sun turning away, and the leaves turning to fiery hues, and the ancestors returning as we approach Samhain and the darker half of the year; in the northern hemisphere.

Episode 11 – Orbs Go Loop the Loop with Kate Ray

I’m so excited to release this second episode of #Ortober – a month of podcasts and specials dedicated to orbs.
Kate Ray is a paranormal investigator and writer for Haunted Magazine and has featured on TV and Radio. Kate has a brilliant YouTube Channel ‘Kate HareGirl Rae’ which has lots of fascinating video interviews about Otherworldly topics, see the links in my show notes for this episode.
She is a practising witch and a student of parapsychology which she says gives her opportunities to examine the paranormal field from the perspectives of believer and sceptic. Her true passion lies in the realms of the fae and encompasses the world of the Other in her work. And I have to add that she is a talented artist too! I bought a fab pair of toadstool earrings from her recently and I love them!
Kate and I had an enjoyable and fascinating chat about orbs and several of them decided to join in! We also chat about my favourite topic of pixies and a TV first which brings them into the 21st Century! Also other paranormal experiences, including darker beings!
Kate gives me some insight into the identity the woman is who I captured an EVP of singing in Episode 6. As this is of a personal nature, I have only included this in the full video version of our chat which is available on my Patreon now. We also captured an EVP on the video of a woman responding to the personal message that Kate was giving me. I’m so excited to release this first episode of #Ortober – a month of podcasts and specials dedicated to orbs.
My guest is Lorraine Wilson is a very successful English author and Magical Awakening Practitioner, living in the foothills of the Pyrenees, southern France, with her beloved dogs. This is a unique and beautiful part of the world which has attracted people on a spiritual path for centuries. Lorraine and I have a good old chat about faeries and the light phenomena that she sees regularly in her garden and elsewhere in nature which she refers to as her "flying fairy lights". I’ve titled this episode 'Friendly Finn and Maybe Maeve' after two, of the many faerie elementals, that she communicates with.
We also chat about what she calls “rainbow curtains of light”. Lorraine says “I often see things moving in the rainbow curtains and orbs but didn’t think they were showing up in the photos. There’s one little creature I’ve spotted three times now in different rainbows and the last one is intriguing- it looks like the nose and muzzle of a large cat…”
Light Language (LL) is a form of ‘speaking in tongues’, which is believed by experiencers and followers of LL, to be channeled information from beings in other dimensions – e.g. Faeries, angels, Extra Terrestrials. Lorraine has been seeing orbs and rainbows and all kinds of beautiful light manifestations, since she took her light language outside into nature over a year ago. She has used it to connect more deeply with the elements and elemental beings and has taken thousands of photographs of orbs in her garden and whilst out walking her dogs in the surrounding countryside. She says “I know skeptics would say the photos couldn’t be real but I’m not remotely techie and wouldn’t even know how to fake them!”
Lorraine offers Magical Awakening, Light Language activation healing sessions which are tailored specifically for the client. This time on Weird Wonderful Wanders, we hear an inspiring love story, about the deep and enduring love between two kindred souls and how their love reaches beyond time, space and other dimensions.
Join my friend Kay Edgecombe and I for a wander on the beautiful island of Great Cumbrae, off the west coast of Scotland. Kay’s husband, Paddy Edgecombe, passed away earlier this year, after a long illness.
Kay talks openly about how she is navigating grief, how their bond of deep love continues, and the ongoing communication with her beloved, late husband Paddy.
For Kay, this connection from the other side, comes through rooks and other corvid birds.

Ghostly Tunes:
Also, whilst editing this part of our chat, to my surprise and delight, I found what sounds like a woman singing a wordless song in the background. This is known as an EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena) which are believed by paranormal researchers to be spirit voices.
Exclusive! Due to previous experiences I’m starting to feel that this ghostly, singing lady is connected to me and I will be exploring in future episodes.
And, I am so intrigued with discovering more about who this woman could be that I returned to the red roofed barn in early June this year to talk with the spirits of the ruined farm. I captured, what I think, are taps and knocks from the resident spirits in response to my questions.

It is wonderful how our senses can be aroused in these liminal landscapes, such as Dartmoor. Especially if we slowdown, relax and go into a meditative state.
I feel it was to do with being with a like-minded soul Jo and I both being sensitive to the supernatural and invested in exploring these experiences.

On arrival the area seemed very familiar to her. Pat wondered if she had been there before in a past life?

Join me for a delightful wander with Jeanne Hampshire through beautiful and mystical Dartington Hall Gardens in Devon, which date back to around 900 AD!
Jeanne describes her work with sound, movement and creativity as encouraging “a deep connection with the body, nature and the living universe for an energetic meaningful sense of empowered well-being and conscious evolution”.
Against the background of a rich soundscape of birdsong. we wander and chat about Jeanne’s inspiring work and engage with our stunning surroundings. Leylines, historical connections with spiritual groups such as the Druids, Knights Templar and visionary garden design interplay with the rich tapestry of energies in this timeless place. Our wander culminates with time spent beside the ‘Holy Well’ a natural spring in the gardens. Holy Wells go back to pre-Christian times, were revered for their specific healing properties and were later associated with Christian Saints.

On a beautiful sunny April day, on the approach to magickal Beltane, I met with folklore researcher Jo Hickey Hall who has a wonderful project and podcast called Modern Fairy Sightings, recording the real faerie experiences of her guests.
We started our wander on the hill above Widecombe village, Dartmoor, with stunning 360 views of the moor.
Dartmoor is steeped in tales of pixie sightings and folklore; pixies are a type of faerie found in the South West of England. Having followed the path of faerie belief for many years, it was a real joy to discuss faerie experiences and old pixie tales of the with Jo.
Afterwards we went to the very atmospheric ruined farm at Emsworthy, where we explored and continued our chat about faerie experiences and the importance of protecting our wild places in nature.

We return to Scoriton in Devon, where I shared the strange events that Arthur Bryant experienced in 1965, which were recounted in ‘The Scoriton Mystery; Did Adamski Return?’ by Eileen Buckle.
My guest for this episode lives in Arthur Bryant’s former home. Coincidently, prior to moving to Scoriton, she had two ET experiences in the 1990s. On the night of her first experience, she received a message and a crop circle was discovered in nearby fields. In her second experience, she encountered a very tall being. I used my crystal pendulum to dowse for answers in her cottage and on the land, what would be revealed?

The 1967 book ‘The Scoriton Mystery, Did Adamski Return?’ by Eileen Buckle, recounts Ernest Arthur Byant’s close encounter, in April 1965, with a UFO and its occupants, in a field on the fringes of Dartmoor, and the subsequent events that followed. Did Arthur really experience something otherworldly or is there an earthly explanation? I walk around Scoriton and discuss Arthur’s story and other UFO cases with local writer Simon Tucker.

The story of the hairy hands has become part of the paranormal lore of Dartmoor, with many versions, and inaccuracies, written over the years. My family has its own version of this story which I share here along here with new evidence from my research into the original historical sources.
In spring 2021 my father Steve Casely and I retraced the last part of the ill-fated route of Dr Helby from Cherrybrook bridge to Postbridge on the B3212 road. It was around the time of the 100th anniversary of the motorcycle accident that fatally wounded the Dr and injured his two young passengers. The sounds of the landscape and the Cherrybrook river flow hauntingly along with us, interspersed with my retelling of the incident and the newspaper reports of the time.
