Making a sincere apology can have a profound impact on your level of self-worth. What I realized over the last several weeks is that I realized that the way I was taught about making an apology was that it was either "owed" like a bad debt or it came with a lot of strings attached.

What you'll learn in this episode:

  1. When we apologize from a place of fear, it has a different energy to it. It feels heavy and haunting. There's an air of manipulation to it.
  2. When we apologize from a place of love, it feels genuine.
  3. A sincere apology can give anyone a sense of freedom when we come from the right place.

I'm delighted to say that learning to sincerely and timely apologize is one of the biggest gifts I've ever given to myself.

Today's episode is all about the different types of mama drama. It looks different for all of us. Drama doesn't mean anything has gone wrong. It's something that you have control over.

This originally started out as a list of 5 to 7 topics. When I dug in a little deeper, it was like a snowball effect. The list kept getting longer. I see Part 2 in our future.

In this episode I talk about:

  • How we can pick up subtle messages that create body image issues
  • Drama around money
  • When your mom doesn't show her emotions
  • When mom says mean things
  • Enmeshment and boundaries
  • Women who are still holding onto resentment even when mom is gone
  • Betrayal drama
  • The dutiful daughter
  • Distrust drama
  • Mother-in-law drama
  • Blame and shame
  • When mom acts like a child
  • Health issues with mama
  • The critical mama drama
  • No-contact drama

I’ve been trying to come up with a way to explain the power of coaching, what coaching really is, and how it can help for quite a while.

One big question that comes up is how coaching is different from therapy. I actually get this question a lot. Heck! I wondered the same thing for a very long time.

Then I got curious. I asked myself the hard questions. I asked my fellow coaches and clients to chime in on their own experience on how therapy is different than coaching.

I love talking about coaching, how it helps people, and how it has helped me.

What I’m talking about in this episode:

  1. How life coaching has helped me
  2. What’s the difference between therapy and coaching
  3. How to find the right coach for you
  4. How my coaching sessions work
  5. What it’s like to coach with me.

Creating a daily routine can give you a sense of safety and security in your life.

I'm talking about creating routines for yourself because Empaths can be susceptible to decision fatigue, chaos, and get into the fight, flight, freeze mode if we’re not careful.

As a sensitive person, you can have many different experiences during the day that include thoughts, emotions, and inspirations.

Creating a predictable environment can feel very centering and grounding (which is something that empaths crave).

Examples:

  • Waking up at a certain hour every day
  • Eating regular meals
  • Giving yourself balanced time for work, play, movement, and meditation each week.

This gives you a nice framework that doesn’t have to make you feel trapped.

On the other hand, if your schedule is chaotic, if you find yourself spending too much time socializing (which can be draining for empaths), OR too much time alone, you can start to feel an imbalance.

When I’m “in the zone” with work or other activities, I feel like I’m in this timeless sweet spot. Work feels effortless. That’s why I love to have a daily structure that’s not too tight and not too loose.

I go to bed at the same time, eat at the same time, and work in the same spot. Even my doggies know what happens where. They like having a routine, too!

Having this type of structure lets me stay open to my own creativity and I’m noticing that my distractions are fewer when I have a structure to my day and week.

What can you do? I have some suggestions:

  • Spend time journaling about the daily structure that feels good to you.
    • Write down how you feel when you get enough sleep
    • What meals (and when) feel the best for your body
    • When do you work most efficiently and effectively?
    • What times of day are you less likely to get distracted?
    • When do you like to meditate? AM? PM? Both?
  • Under-schedule your days
  • Focus on “routines” that give you enough structure and allows you to be just a bit spontaneous.

If you enjoy this episode and it inspired you in some way, I'd love to hear about it and know your biggest takeaway.

I asked this question in my Empath Insights Facebook Group and I got some insightful answers. Clients come to me because they're not only empaths, but they're afraid to open up. They're afraid to let their feelings out.

Do you know what happens in the body when you don't give yourself permission to release those stuck emotions?

You feel physically stuck, tired, sick, and heavy.

Most are in chronic pain because they can't seem to let go of those emotions.

It's the best feeling in the world to watch a client go from complete overwhelm to being relaxed around the same exact situation.

Here are the top 3 that came up for my group members: * Tiredness to the point of feeling physically drained * Trapped in the cycle of emotional eating to push down emotions. Then getting depressed about it. * Pushing down emotions to the point of either severe depression or blowing up with anger.

If any of this topic resonates with you and you're ready to start thriving as an empath, I'd love to chat with you 1:1.

Your own thoughts can drain you!   Your negative, stressful thoughts can be addictive.    It may be hard to stop thinking stressful thoughts. They can be obsessive, repetitive, and can keep replaying in your mind relentlessly throughout the day.   That’s why you must step in and take control. These thoughts are a form of self-inflicted suffering.   Don’t let them define the way you see yourself and the world because they are not reality.   Something to ask yourself, “How would my life change if I knew these thoughts weren’t real?” Take some time to journal about it.   If you continue to believe the false messages these thoughts send, you will likely be tired and unhappy.   One of the best places to connect with other empaths is my FREE Facebook group: Empath Insights.  https://www.facebook.com/groups/empathinsights   To work with me one-on-one, just click here and schedule your free consultation.   For a full list of my guided meditations, visit: https://rachel-hudson.mykajabi.com/guided-meditations   Intuition Mini-Course is on sale now: https://www.rachelkhudson.com/intuition

In this episode, I give you a very simple way to release negative energy.

Have you ever secretly wondered to yourself, "Am I being too negative?"

In this episode, I give you some very practical tips on how to overcome negativity.

Fun Fact:

  • Research shows that most people complain once a minute during a conversation. As soon as I found that piece of info, I was hyper-aware of what I'm saying during a conversation.
  • My conversations are more meaningful now, and I'm grateful that I had that beautiful wake-up call.

Solution:

If you're looking for a real coping strategy and looking to get off of the "complain-train" I have something for you to try.

Try only talking about the problem one time. The rest of the time, make a deal with yourself and others in the meeting to focus on the solution. . Otherwise, you'll just be picking up more passengers to go for a long ride on the complain-train with you.

If you enjoy this episode and it inspired you in some way, we’d love to hear about it and know your biggest takeaway. Take a screenshot of you listening on your device, post it to your Instagram Stories and tag me @rachelkhudson.

In this episode, I talk about the easiest way to block energy vampires.

I'm talking about this tip because 1. It's simple 2. Empaths are often looking for simple solutions to their energy vampire problems 3. I don't see a lot of people giving simple solutions

If you enjoy this episode and it inspired you in some way, we’d love to hear about it and know your biggest takeaway. Take a screenshot of you listening on your device, post it to your Instagram Stories, and tag me @rachelkhudson.

I've learned over the years that if there’s an empath problem, there’s a solution. And I'm here to give solutions. But it all starts with YOU.

You must take some type of action to get to a place where you can stand in your own power and learn to STOP letting energy vampires feed on your life force. Yep - your energy.

Whether it’s the controller, the victim, the narcissist, the space invader, or any type of energy vampire - this is the quickest and easiest way to stand in your power and make sure they don't feed off of your life force.

Have you ever been around someone who obsessively tried to control and dictate everything they thought you were supposed to be and feel?

They have an opinion about everything and try to control you by invalidating your emotions if those emotions don’t fit into their rulebook. They often start sentences with “You know what you need?” and then proceed to tell you.

This ends up making you feel stuck, demeaned, and put down.

We’re talking about the type of Energy Vampire called The Controller. This chronic lack of power can lead to depression and physical symptoms.

The controller can be very subtle to please take care.   If you enjoy this episode and it inspired you in some way, we’d love to hear about it and know your biggest takeaway. Here's an interesting type of energy vampire that I think everyone has in common. The Victim. Yes - I know, we’ve all unintentionally settled into the victim mentality every now and then but we don’t want to live there.

I’m talking about the type of Energy Vampire Victim who is living in their “victimhood”.

As empaths, these energy vampires can really drain our energy and leave us feeling like we've absorbed all of their problems. We walk away feeling heavy, frustrated, and wondering what just happened to make us feel so low.

Here are just a few of the signs to watch out for:

  • They have a constant attitude of "poor me"
  • They're allergic to taking responsibility for their actions
  • The world is always against them and this seems to be the reason for their unhappiness
  • When you offer a solution to their problems they tend to respond with, "yes, but..."
  • Over time, you might find yourself screening their calls or purposely avoid them.
  • As a friend, you may want to help but their tales of woe just overwhelm you too much.

Now, I never want to just leave you thinking about all the problems without giving you simple, real-life strategies. That’s what I’m here for!

Here’s how to protect your emotions:

  • Set kind but firm limits
  • Listen briefly and tell your friend or loved one, "I love you but I can only listen for a few minutes ⏱ unless you want to discuss solutions. Then I'd be more than happy to brainstorm solutions with you."
  • If you're dealing with a coworker, listen briefly, then sympathize by saying something like, "I'll keep good thoughts for things to work out. I hope you understand, but I'm on a deadline and must get back to work."
  • You can also use your body language that says, "this isn't a good time" like crossing your arms and breaking eye contact to help set these healthy limits.

Empaths can easily feel like the "wilted flower" 🥀 when we're around energy vampires. It's the feeling that you're drained of all life force.
