We live in a world in which there's plenty weird and wonderful events occurring. Depending on who you talk to, they tend to be either easily explained or not so easily explained. What kind of events am I talking about? I'm talking about events and topics that we widely term 'new age'. I'm sure those two little words are instantly conjuring up all sorts of naff stereotypical images in your head. I want to throw the new age stereotypes out the windows and offer everyone the chance to find out more about a range of subjects. As part of it I want to give people the opportunity to participate and try some of these things for themselves.
I decided to make a podcast where I speak to people in fields such as mediumship, ghosts, dowsing, meditation and tarot and find out more about these subjects: How they became interested? What do they do? What issues do they encounter? What is the reputation of their field? What are the ethics involved? I want to discuss both positive and negative aspects of their fields. Where possible, I'd like them to give practical demonstrations, not only that I would like them to try experiments and exercises for listeners to either along with or after the podcast. I want something everyone can participate in and offer feedback on.
User interaction is key. I'd like to do a follow-up podcast for each person I talk to, this will give listeners an opportunity to send in questions and comment on the exercises or experiments via email.
In this podcast we discuss the world of Dowsing and show there's far more to it that just running about with a forked twig looking for water.
My guest is geomancer and president of the British Society of Dowsers, Grahame Gardener.
In a continuation from the previous podcast, Ewan Irvine and myself discuss fraud and the paranormal, checking for evidence and a bit about TV programmes such as 'Most Haunted'. Ewan also gives a small demonstration of mediumship. I'll verify what information I can afterwards, but there's a couple of bits of info which have been removed from Ewan's demonstration, one for personal reasons, which was a description of a very specific thing, which then soemthing related directly to it happened the day after the interview with Ewan, that I can't sadly go into. There is also another piece of information which for obvious reasons I need to wait and see what happens with them, no one apart from myself and Ewan know about, but I will hopefully be able to podcast about it at a not too distant date in the future.

This is the introductory podcast for a series of podcasts called 'You Will Never Know Until You Try'. The idea was to create a series of podcasts on what might be loosely termed 'new age' topics where user partiticipation and feedback is very much encouraged. It is aimed at anyone who is curious and would like to know a bit more about the topic in question, but also at skeptics and those who already believe in what is being discussed.
The first 'proper' podcast will be posted in the next few days.
