Peter Gold, MD

Dr. Peter Gold is one of Panorama’s specialists in adult hip and knee arthritis and joint replacement surgery. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with honors from Tulane University, and followed in his father’s footsteps with a degree from Tulane Medical School.

As a third-generation physician, Dr. Gold always knew he wanted to pursue medicine. His father, Dr. Robert Gold, has been practicing pediatric ophthalmology for over 35 years. His grandfather, Dr. Jerome Gold, was an infectious disease doctor who, among many other accomplishments, helped develop the most common antibiotic used in orthopaedic surgery, Ancef, named for his wife, Anne.

After medical school, Dr. Gold completed orthopaedic residency at NorthShore-LIJ in New York, where he received the Leslie Sgaglione Humanism and Jodi Fisher Excellence in Research Awards. To date, he has 34 peer-reviewed publications and 81 podium or poster presentations.

Following residency, Dr. Gold completed fellowship in adult hip and knee reconstruction at the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As a young leader in the field, he serves on various committees within The American Academy of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS) and the Young Arthroplasty Group (YAG). He additionally represents hip and knee surgeons to US policy-makers as an AAHKS Health Policy Fellow.

Dr. Gold’s guiding philosophy is to deeply listen to his patients, understand what drives their quality of life and educate his patients and their families in order to make the best shared decision on their care.

In 2015, Dr. Gold was shot in the abdomen while stopping a man from kidnapping a woman on the streets of New Orleans. “Having survived a near-death experience and becoming a patient myself completely changed the type of doctor I am today,” he says. “I understand how scary it can be to be a patient. I believe it is an important part of a surgeon’s job to relieve this fear and give their patients confidence based in knowledge.”

In addition to informing his approach to patient care, Dr. Gold’s first-hand experience with gun violence inspired him to co-found and run Strong City, a non-profit that, since 2017, has provided resources to community-based organizations in New Orleans to empower underserved youth.

Dr. Gold enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, snowboarding, yoga, traveling, and listening to live music.

Join Marney Reid and Chris Frink as they discuss going from a MedTech sales role into leading a team that defines and rolls out the strategy for a new product/technology launch. Chris talks through his experience starting on the sales team at one of the “big five” (as we call it in the Orthopaedic industry) into leading commercial strategy at a smaller MedTech company. We discuss the biggest changes to keep in mind when going from sales into an internal role, and key variables to consider in order to take something from a “good idea” into execution, and pass through the adoption curve into product adoption.

Chris Fronk

Chief Commercial Officer

THINK Surgical

Chris is a successful Med Tech commercial leader with 20 years of experience in the enabling technology and robotics space. He’s worked for both large public and small privately held organizations.

Currently, Chris is the Chief Commercial Officer for THINK Surgical which is a privately held company in the orthopedics robotics market. THINK has gone through a tremendous transformation over the last two and a half years raising more than $100 million and completely revamping their product portfolio.

Chris and the leadership team have rebuilt THINK’s commercial offense from the ground up. THINK Surgical is pursuing a differentiated strategy and disruptive commercial model which will challenge the market dominance of the major orthopedic companies. The company recently transitioned from R&D into commercial execution following FDA clearance for their innovative new miniature, handheld robotic system in 2023.

Prior to joining THINK Surgical, he had a highly successful 17-year career at Stryker Corp. where he sold orthopedic instruments, surgical navigation, and Mako surgical robotics technologies to both hospitals and IDN’s. This time both in the field and in corporate roles has helped Chris develop market relevant instincts regarding customer expectations, commercial models and user experiences with enabling technologies across multiple surgical specialty. Chris holds a BA in Marketing from Stetson University and has been recognized with numerous

outstanding sales and career achievement awards:

Join Marney Reid and Drs. Elizabeth Lieberman, Carl Herndon and AJ Rush III as they discuss when and how to implement something new to your practice, whether this is a new surgical approach or a technology/product that they feel will help enhance with patient care. These three early career surgeon leaders representing different Orthopaedic subspecialties, locations, and practice models share best practices and lessons learned on their practice building journeys.

Elizabeth Lieberman

Clinical Associate, Orthopaedic and Fracture Specialists

Lizzie Lieberman is a hip and knee replacement surgeon in private practice in Portland, Oregon. She went into joint replacement surgery because she loved the predictability of the surgeries and outcomes. However, she also understands that if we don’t constantly stretch beyond our familiar comfort zones we will fail to progress or grow.

Dr. Lieberman completed her fellowship in 2020 and entered practice during a time when standard practice had been thrown out the window. She took this opportunity to grow a busy practice and implement protocols including a highly successful same-day discharge protocol, which had not previously been done in the group she was working with.

Two years into practice, an opportunity came about to change jobs and she took the leap, changing from an academic position to private practice. In her first four years of clinical practice, she has learned a lot about how and why it’s important to incorporate new protocols, procedures, and technologies into practice and is excited to discuss this topic!
