Relation, perceived value and the ability to discern value - each of these elements are part of the need for a story. The beauty of which whether real or fictitious lies in a story's power to connect to many and provide a relational value to a place or commodity.
Where we see this most often I believe is the F&B servicescape, from the ambience, concept and menu to service styles, presentation and feel. Here, a story acts to complement the sating factor of one's dining experience in many ways, especially by adding depth.
