In Love with Nature and Mother Earth
For this week's theme chosen by @wizj I've decided to share a classic tune by John Denver, which describes the return to a much loved home county.
This great sing-along-song was released in 1971 and put West Virginia into people's minds worldwide. I dare say it is one of those songs that any guitarist would have had a go at at some point and it sure gets the audience joining in.
When I listen to the first lines of the song I instantly see a lovely country side in front of me, and I assume the theme this week was all about that too and that we should take care of our natural environment, treasure and protect it.
As we get to the second verse however things are not quite so rosy anymore as we learn about the fact that the county is very beautiful indeed, but also the home of a mining industry that appears to do the opposite to protect its surroundings.
"Miner's Lady, stranger to blue water"... we can only imagine what the water might have looked like in the past or still does.
Still, people there are supposedly very proud of their work heritage too.
It is their livelihood and that is the dilemma this planet faces, that too often jobs take priority over our natural habitat, which we cannot live without, but it seems too many people think they can...

Hopeful is this week's theme and I've seen some fantastic entries already published.
Personally I am still hopeful that some day I will manage to be a bit better prepared with this stuff, starting to learn a song earlier and not leaving it so late..
My song for this week is about losing someone very suddenly and wishing to still being able to connect to that person.
I always been a fan of the 1970s TV series "Upstairs, Downstairs" and still love it today.
Its story covers the years between 1903 and 1930 and is set in London.
What I like about the program is the use of many subjects that were relevant at the time.
In 1912 the Titanic sank and in 1914 the First World War started; both events had people lose their loved ones, the war in much, much greater numbers of course. Both these events were covered in the program showing people who tried to get into contact with their dead, especially if the loss was sudden and there was no way of saying good bye. So called mediums were in high demand, getting people around tables and supposedly bringing the dead back for a short time.
I don't believe in an afterlife and mediums therefore are just good magicians to me making believe. However, if the hope that their loved ones are happy where they are helps people to overcome their grieve then that has to be a good thing!
Moonlight Shadow is a song we've been practicing with our band and I thought this theme would be an opportunity to play it on my own. It still needs polishing and I was struggling with those fast strums.. My fingers are very sore right now from too much playing..

PasiΓ³n por el Arte
This weeks theme Passion for the Art chosen by @albertocoachbl left me pondering what I should do. What is art? Paintings, music, films and TV, poems and stories, sculptures and so forth.
Well, I decided that my passion lies with films and music which made my choice very easy in the end: Marilyn came to my mind very quickly, but initially it was going to be a different song, instead it will be one that we've done with band.
Today I will publish my shortest song ever! π
And I'm wearing a dress, which DOES NOT happen very often either! π€£
Marilyn Monroe When I was a kid my Mum and Dad used to go out bowling with colleagues leaving me and my sister to watch TV all night.. haha, fun times! π
I loved, and still love, all those old movies that were available on the few major channels we were able to get. Newer films were a rarity then and usually only reserved for the cinema.
I would watch anything! Westerns, romance, comedy, but I liked dance and music films best. The way they were able to move always fascinated me! I can ball room dance by the way.. the best exercise there is and the most enjoyable!
Marilyn Monroe was, of course, a major feature in many of those films, not just the music ones, but drama and comedy too.

I Wanna Be Loved By You A young and cute Marilyn in Some Like It Hot... looking sexy and sounding amazing! In some scenes she plays a little uke, or is she just holding it? π I have a hunch she might...
I have always loved singing old songs and this song is one we've done in the past with our band Swing 42.
In the film it has quite a long instrumental break before Marilyn comes in a second time and this bit is filled by @daniellemurray with her clarinet in the band. However, I am keeping it very short in this version and not even doing the second round of singing.

Be OK
This week's theme is Be Ok and was chosen by @maryjacy, another of those fine ones that leave us a variety of songs to choose from, which is always great!
For me being ok means being positive and happy as much as possible, although that doesn't always work.
I do like a lot of things and I will never stop learning, which I think keeps me sane.
My music is constantly evolving and I have always been learning foreign languages, you are never too old for anything.
If you would like to do or try something, don't wait until tomorrow, do it now!
For this theme I have chosen a song that simply bursts of energy and good vibes!
Walking on sunshine, walking on clouds, it doesn't need many more words to express you're happy!
I am sure that the noise and speed of this song gets any listener going! It's a great foot tapper!
The song was released in 1985 and and is a firm favourite with film makers and advertisers, so Katrina and her Waves have done very well indeed with this catchy tune.

My Original Song
When I saw this theme chosen by our dear friend @fernanblog I instantly thought, oh dear, what should I do?
I don't write songs unfortunately, so it was either giving this week a miss or having a go at creating one; I didn't think that would have been fair on anybody though!
Glenn Close - Brightest Star Our dear friend Glenn came to the rescue on this occasion with one of our favourite songs that he wrote many years ago; Some of our Arlesey Jammers have performed it in the past at our outings, but I cannot remember anybody adding a harmonica to it, so this will be my special version here on Hive.
Sadly, Glenn passed away some years ago, which makes the lyrics of this beautiful song very poignant. He is dearly missed by everyone as a person, as the marvellous musician that he was and a pillar of our community, getting everybody involved in our musical adventures.
I won't write much about the song itself, but I will say one thing, that it always brings back happy memories to all of us Jammers.

Fraternidad
This week's theme Fraternidad was chosen by @guitarmcy and I thought I'd give Keane's "Somewhere Only We Know" a shot, a beautiful song that speaks to many people, which is why it fits the theme perfectly in my opinion.
The song has been on my "to learn"-shelf for some time as it's been one of those songs that just never wanted to stick in my head, and I don't like using sheets. These weekly Open Mics are always a great opportunity to finally learn those as well as new ones.
I will most definitely need to practice this one more as it turned out a little too fast here, so apologies for that.
Keane - Somewhere Only We Know The lyrics of this song, which was released in 2004, are just so magical!
I love the notion of a secret place that only your close friend or friends know about and when I listen to the song I always see myself in some mystical wood walking over soft moss, and only this morning did I in fact sit by the river in St Neots with my dog Mia and I felt complete.. haha
There she is being curiously observed by a swan.. and by me...
That position is a typical "I'm gonna roll in that" position.. lol
The Video I have done a double-take on this one again, using my little Lumix camera for the bigger picture and a phone for the close up recording both at the same time.
I must say, that I enjoy putting these together now that I "know" what I'm doing..

A Good Friend
This week's wonderful theme A Good Friend was chosen by @jesus-son and what a good friend he is for giving us a theme that leaves a lot of room for exploring matching songs, thank you! ππ
My choice fell on a song that has been covered here many times before; I wanted to learn it on the piano, so when the theme came up I just thought.. YAY!
My guitar was an afterthought, but it occurred to me that should throw it in as well..
Count On Me Bruno Mars has had a string of great songs that I have only started to discover; most of them have a light hearted touch to them and "Count On Me" is no exception!
I love the innocent lyrics of this song; I see them as mainly aimed at a very good friend, but if a partner is also a very good friend than that is the most wonderful thing in the world!
I shoulder to cry on whenever you need it, someone singing you to sleep (maybe playing guitar?), wow, what a thought!
We all need kind people who support and encourage us, so let's try and do just that!
My Video I am getting more adventurous with my videos and for this week I have added soft edges to my guitar part. For anybody interested: I use Kdenlive for the video and Audacity for the audio part.

Derrotemos a la distancia
I have been learning a bit more about video editig for this week's theme and thoroughly enjoyed it! The Derrotemos a la distancia translates to "Let's Defeat the distance", and was chosen by @karlex77.
KT Tunstall With a "distance" theme I have the opportunity to play a song by one of my favourite artists, the Scottish singer KT Tunstall, who has been in the public eye since around 2000 and has created some great tunes during that time! She's got an amazing voice and is very cool when she performs, especially when using her loop pedal, which has inspired a great many people to incorporate it into their own repertoirs, including some of my friends. Watch @steve-o2023 using it expertly here.
Other Side of the World I very much assume that this week's theme is meant in a "stick together" sort of way as in Steve's song up there, even if that should be across borders, which is a fantastic thought!
I myself have been stranded on this island called Britain and still have friends and family in Germany, of course. With the Internet, which was only really starting up when I arrived here, it is possible to keep in close contact these days with no problems at all; we see it every day here on Hive.
Usually keeping in contact with family members is a given, you are normally more or less strongly connected, and most of us will try to put some effort into at least the family abroad and with some close friends.
However, this can be different for a love relationship, where the lack of intimacy for long periods of time can be the make or break factor for some.
The failing of such a relationship is supposedly what this song is about. It looks like KT wrote it about her friends who were a couple and lived very far apart from each other, which didn't work out for them...
Wrapping It Up I have had a play with video editing after seeing Steve's excellent production and he gave me some tips on how to go about it; still learning, but quite happy with the result and I am looking forward to do more.

My take on this week's theme "To the God we worship" by @williansmarquez will be a bit different to most people's posts.
Some people think they themselves are God...
Carly Simon - You're So VainWhen I saw the word "admiration" The Picture of Dorian Gray instantly came to my mind; a novel written by Oscar Wilde and first published in 1890.
Unlike the admiration for God as in our theme is it the story of a young man who admires himself too much and destroys the lives of some of the people around him in the wake of it.
I have been learning a new song that has been on my list for some time, and I find it to almost be a real-life story matching that of Dorian Gray.. In this day and age, sadly, a lot of people admire mostly themselves without regards for others and this song is about such a person.
Carly Simon released this song in 1972 and for many years people speculated if it was about her previous partner and actor Warren Beatty. A few years back, however, she revealed that he was only covered in verse two and two others gave the ideas for the rest of the song.
There you go, there are loads of people on this planet, who could be Dorian! π
Wrapping It UpI have shortened my version a little for this presentation, there is an instrumental bit that I'm skipping on this occasion and I still have find a suitable ending for my acoustic version, but I hope, you like it anyhow.

This week's theme, translating to "Till the End", was chosen by @wbrandt and I will be covering not only a new song, but to me a totally new artist, so don't expect any insights here - today I will be skipping my usual artist section.. π
Having said that, most of you will know more about her than I do anyhow.. π
But in case you don't and cannot get yourself to type "Christina Perri" into your preferred search engine, find some info on Wikipedia.
A Thousand YearsWhat a beautiful song! I came across it by accident while looking for duets and started learning it on the guitar. I must admit that I have never watched any of the "The Twilight Saga" of which this is supposedly the music running during the credits of part one.
However, I instantly felt totally drawn into it when I first heard it and just wanted to sing it over and over, which is, of course, the best reason to make you learn any song!
This one is about everlasting love, and as the story of this film trilogy is about vampires, this goes beyond "Till the end" or "Till death do us part"; however, to me it still fits perfectly!
Preparing for a Wedding in SummerThis song has already been covered here loads of times and there will possibly be no appetite for my version.
However, in July I will be attending a wedding of a friend who invited his musician friends to perform on the day and this shall be my feature song!
I am therefore very grateful for this week's theme and that I can add this song to my repertoire!

DNA
For this week's theme "DNA" , chosen by the @stickupboys, I wasn't sure at all what to do.
I had songs in my head for which I would have had to give those famous three letters a different meaning, however, practicing for upcoming Open Mics got me another idea, and here it is, a classic one of the 80s.
Suzanne VegaI grew up with Suzanne Vega, although her songs were far too advanced for me having English only as a second language. I loved the melodies and her soft voice, but most of the lyrics were way over my head. The most famous one about abuse, Luka, was totally lost on me to begin with, but nowadays I would like to finally pick up a few of her songs, and have recently started learning "Tom's Diner".
Tom's DinerI think a lot of her songs can be linked to DNA, most of them are about human nature in some way.
This one seems so simple, but what a great song it is about the mundane lives we all lead sometimes (or most days?); I love all those nuances of the story, all the little details she puts in the song about things that we often don't even notice going about our own business; things that we do automatically without thinking, but that are so natural: looking what others are doing, doing things absent mindely while thinking about something else.
It seems to be in our DNA to strive for better things, getting more interesting, richer, whatever, but at the same time are we really not that special; just people getting through our lives that we may or may not find boring. For myself I tend to lean towards the latter, just because.. π
Wrap UpI admire song writers who can tell a good story; Suzanne Vega is one of them, and it's great that I can add her to my repertoire.

Comedia Musical
This week's theme Comedia Musical was chosen by @nancybmp and it will be interesting to see what people come up with; I have already seen a few interesting entries.
Skullcrusher MountainIt was suggested to me that I should do a song by Jonathan Coulton, a singer-songwriter who appears to have become popular by using the internet as his platform for success.
The song has a bit of a love in a horror story, or vice versa. Horror is not really my genre when it comes to films, you can make me jump easily, and, as an animal lover, I was appalled by the second verse.. However, I have heard this song done by @Steevc for many years and have always loved the melody, which sounds rather innocent considering the song subject!
However, to put these two, supposedly opposing, themes together makes for an amusing (or twisted?) story.
My VersionAlthough I've known the song for some time, I have never played it myself and I had to change the key up a bit; I initially thought it might sound odd for a woman to sing this, but I suppose it works somehow.
The song has come with me on my recent jogging outings so I could learn the lyrics; it makes for an excellent pace control measure at the same time. However, as I still managed to stumble over some text lines I decided to read it during the recording. I've only got an hour for lunch.. π
I apologise for the slight blur.. My camera didn't think I was worth focusing on.. π

The Theme
This week's theme TΓΊ EstΓ‘s Conmigo current Hive Open Mic theme translates to "You are with me" and is one of those themes that leaves a little room for exploring; I have already seen some different angles published.
The SongI had a few contenders for this week, but settled for beautiful Alanis on this occasion, because I feel that the lyrics fit the theme perfectly.
It is all about the admiration of someone who appears to do all the right things to win you over and easily succeeds in that undertaking.
I have always loved this song, just like many others of hers, but I tend to struggle to remember her lyrics, and reading song sheets is not something I like to do. I rather trip over and laugh it off.. π
I just about made it through this recording without hiccups.. haha
My VersionI've played this song a long while ago, although without the harmonica as I could never work out her "Dylan-style" of playing.. Sometimes it's easier to play the melody than trying to copy some random notes.
However, Alanis needs the harp added so I gave it another shot, and find that this time I figured something out that sort of resembles what she is doing on the original version.
Final WordsI've put the recording together with Kdenlive which @steevc mentioned in one of his drumming posts; early days, but I'm slowly getting the hang of it.
I hope you like my version of this great song, which shall be firmly added to my songbook, as it should have been ages ago!

Hive Open Mic
This week's theme Traditional Music chosen by @bertrayo was lending itself to Irish tunes as it's St Patrick's Day this month. This might be a coincidence, of course, but I was very tempted by that, we used to play a fair few in our band years ago and I have got whistles, violin and such like.
In the end I settled for something different; not really a traditional song, but it was part of the Hippie era and it happens to be my trade mark song!
Melanie's Brand New KeyMelanie Safka recorded this fun little song, also called The Rollerskate Song, in 1971 after performing at Woodstock two years earlier and it is possibly the song she is mostly known by.
Something I locally seem to have in common with her.. π
I started learning it years ago, thinking it's quite easy to pick up and it has somehow stayed with me ever since; it sure seems to capture the audience's attention, who will often sing the different lyrics of a cover version from 1976, The Combine Harvester
Think, I'll stick with the original though.. π
anna-newkeyIt is a coincidence that I chose anna-newkey years ago as a login name before Hive and before I learned the song, but it is very fitting indeed. By the way: My name is Anke, but I'm often called Anna back home in Hamburg, because my Mum thought it was a good idea to name me after her sister.. π

This week's theme Faith, Hope, and Love has been chosen by @deeanndmathews and I in turn chose a song by ABBA as my entry.
ABBA - My Love, My LifeI have been a huge ABBA fan all my life, I was a kid when they started their individual careers in Sweden. After they became a worldwide sensation as a band by winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974 with Waterloo I was on my way to being hooked.
I still remember my birthday in 1976 when my Mum bought me their album Arrival and hid it on the wardrobe. She didn't make a good job of it, and I sneakily listened to it when no-one was around, over and over! I was totally mesmerised by the sound of the band and the voices of the ladies.
I wanted to sing like them and during the course of their time in the limelight I learned all of their songs by heart, my untrained voice didn't thank me, something I will regret forever.
Hasta MaΓ±ana - Released in 1974Lately I have been re-discovering their music and relearning some of the lyrics - yes, I've forgotten some -, but also learning to play them on guitar.
The song I am going to do today is one of their older ones and featured on the same album as Waterloo. I've always loved this one, it has a very clean sound with Agnetha FΓ€ltskog singing with her unmistakable voice, expressing all three parts of this week's theme, the lost love, but also the hope that the lovers meet again and the faith that they are meant to be together.

FinallyI am not Agnetha, of course, but I still hope, you like my version of this song, which is another fairly new one and the intro didn't go according to plan, but hey, it's live.. haha..

Our Virtue
Britannica.com notes these as our virtues:
Humility, charity, chastity, gratitude, temperance, patience, diligence
These are obviously taken from the Bible and how relevant they still are in our modern lives is open to debate, but even if some are more relevant than others, we should all strive to try to be a good role model for our fellow citizens. More and more people on the planet also means more conflict, making this hard for some, but if we don't try to be patient or diligent, societies might fall into disarray.
It's Not About the MoneyI have seen some great entries to this theme this week, and can't really add much, neither was I quite sure what songs I know that could fit this theme, and when I first thought of Jessie J's "Price Tag" I thought it to be a little too light hearted, but on second thought it grew on me that it is actually a pretty good match.
Money has always been the cause of trouble in the world, and that continues till today; too many people seek easy fame and stardom (and money), nowadays mostly online. Charity only comes in for some when this increases said fame; there are exceptions to this of course, as always.

Many people have already chosen more religious themed songs for this week's "Light of the World.
I prefer to link it to today's Valentine's Day and all partners that shine a light on their other halves in their own little worlds.
"You are my Sunshine", what a beautiful phrase!
This country classic from the 1940s I am playing today has been recorded by an almost endless string of artists, including Bing Crosby and Johnny Cash.
It has been used in just as many films and TV shows and most people will know the lyrics.
I will still put them further down! It's just something I do.. hehe
This song has been a firm favourite with our band "Swing 42" as part of our repertoire; Non-Hiver Ray usually sings it with @purplesinger and myself providing some harmonies.
I am trying to replicate something of that in my own version today.
Feel free to hum or sing or even play along! I know I will.. haha

Yes, I know, another Carpenter's song.. but how could I resist those lyrics for an Open Mic with the theme of Luz de Estrellas? See?
It's a marvel of a song, brilliantly crafted by Bert Bacharach and in 1970 beautifully sung by Karen Carpenter with her very special voice. The song has been covered loads of times, including here on Hive, where I've seen @eugelys doing a lovely collaboration last year.
My own version has ended up slightly faster, something that needs ironing out with the next recording; I've tried to add some vocal layers on this one, which I haven't done for some time, but I think it works well with most of the Carpenters songs.
This is a brand new song, so I won't do the key change yet as in the original, but I think it works without that just fine for now.

For this week's theme "Grateful Heart" I've already seen some fabulous entries covering different ideas for this subject as it's another one of those, that leave some room for interpretation.
I'd like to share my version of Willie Nelson's classic tune "On the Road Again", as I am grateful to have so many wonderful friends that I can make music with!
Joining the Arlesey Jammers a few years back greatly impacted my playing and singing, and still does; some of them are on Hive, namely @steevc, @todayslight , @purplesinger and @daniellemurray , and now as a new addition @steve-o2023.
We meet up on a regular basis, inspiring each other with things to try out and new songs to play.
Having been introduced to Hive last year has given me yet more inspiration, and that not just in the area of music, but many, many others, and for that I am grateful too!
I hope, you like my version of this classic song, which is another one supported by one of my harmonicas.

Hello all in our Hive Open Mic Community!
This week's theme "Melodic Dose" chosen by @lyon-89 leaves us some room to explore songs of many tastes and genres. My choice fell on a song that I started doing with our band "Swing 42", but has not been on our list for some time. However, it's always been a favourite of mine and sure is on my own list.
Funnily enough has @purplesinger also chosen a song for this week that we used to do with the band, but which has been on the backburner mainly because we tend to play for dancers and some tunes work better than others for certain dance styles. The dancers that join us at our gigs are usually Lindy Hop dancers.
The Girl from ipanema is originally sung in Portuguese, I believe; Please correct me in the comments if I've got that wrong.
However, as I have recently started learning Spanish, and I have found Spanish versions online I think, I sure will re-record this in the future.
I can't wait actually to do that, but I've still got some practicing to do, so for today it will be "just" the English lyrics of the song.

Hello everyone in this Open Mic community!
I guess, it's not too late to wish everyone a Happy New Year and I hope, that all or at least some of your plans will come true in the coming year!
"Voice of Hope" as this week's theme made me choose a song, that is not really about hope as such, but has a lovely theme around the wish to escape this busy life for once in a while.
Gerry Goffin and Carole King have written many, many wonderful songs in their life time, and Up on the Roof is no exception!
It remains a classic and has been covered by so many people, it's impossible to name them all, but the two most important ones are undoubtably Carole King herself on the piano, and, of course, James Taylor on his guitar.
I so love the sweet sound of the lyrics, created by Gerry Goffin; they really do have an airy feel to them, quite appropriate for the top of the roof, where the air is supposedly fresh and sweet and the stars put up a show at night.
Wonderful stuff; I hope, you like my version.

I suppose many of you are getting ready for their New Year celebrations! πΎπ₯πΈ
Today I'd like to play the classic New Year's Eve tune "Auld Lang Syne", which usually brings the old year to a close. Hope, you like it!

I can't quite believe how quickly this year has gone by!
Our band Swing 42 has been busy all year swinging for dancers which was great fun and we shall continue to do so, with our next one already lined up on the 8th of January.

We also held our usual fortnightly jam sessions where some of us sometimes try out new stuff on the others, poor sods.. π We all love our group sessions, as they're very relaxed and it's a lot of fun joining in with others.
We always welcome new faces and our more recent addition has been Rod from the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band. π What a name!

Rod plays his uke these days, he played sax in the band, and presents many of his originals during those sessions, always good for a laugh!

In early June there was the Jubilee weekend to celebrate the Queen's 70th anniversary on the throne, which was also going to be her last as it turns out.
We organised a concert with local musicians at a pub, where Swing 42 played as well.
I don't seem to have many pictures, so you just have to put up with me wearing a silly hat:
Also in June Swing 42 played as part of @purplesinger 's Alive and Singing concert at the Bedford Corn Exchange; you can see her here in action as well as our setup with my lovely Gretsch there in the background.
The year was also filled with loads and loads of open mics at pubs in our area and we hope to get back into our regular one in Arlesey in 2023, fingers crossed!

After a longish absence I managed to jet over to Hamburg for a change, which pleased my Mum for sure ππ¬
And in January it will be a year since I went to London to the German Embassy to get my German passport renewed; at the same time I finally applied for my British passport, which I received some time in March, more on that some other time.

For this week's theme "Nuestro Destino" I'm going to share a classic tune by Doris Day, "Que Sera", which serves the theme in two ways: Firstly the destiny of a little boy in the film in which the song was used, and secondly simply by its lyrics, that we all can relate to.
Doris Day sang it in the Alfred Hitchcock film "The Man Who Knew Too Much" for which it won an Academy Award in 1956.
Being a singer in the film she sings this song to her kidnapped son as an aid for him to be rescued by his father, played by James Stewart.
The song is quite simple, but covers in just a few words and only three verses the whole life of a person and raising the point that we often don't know what will become of us.
However, it does leave out that not all is left to chance, but that we do indeed have some control over what happens to us! It's sometimes just a matter of how much work we want to put into that control!

For this week's theme "Winter" I was tempted to post the obvious choice, a Christmas song, but instead I'd like to share a song originally released in 1962 by Connie Francis. I got to know it when Gabriella Cilmi released a remake in 2008, which I instantly liked for its airy sound. I used to play it on guitar a fair bit, but thought it might transfer to the piano quite nicely too.
Here in the East of England we had unusually low temperatures down to -10 Β°C, together with some snow for some time, I'm sure some areas were even lower, but I'm certain it was a surprise for many.
However, it seems ironic that this theme should start on the very day when very quickly the temperatures have risen to a mid day high from around 0Β°C on Friday to 13 Β°C today!
No snow anymore, just wet and a bit of a storm trying to get hold of us now.
Winter is nowhere near over though, of course, and it could get frosty again, no doubt, but for now ice skating and sleigh riding are only happening in my song!

Being there for others when they are in need of help is a form of humbleness, being able to show empathy, to offer a hand and advice if needed. Most of the time all it takes is listening, a skill that many have lost in our busy world where a lot of people are mostly concerned with moving on in life.
The song I'll stand by you by The Pretenders is simply a beautiful song, first released in 1994. It has a powerful message sung with an equally powerful voice as expected by Chrissie Hynde.
This is a fairly new addition to my repertoire and I still have to work out the little instrumental bit.

Today I'd like share a video from the latest Arlesey Jammers Open Mic, which was held on a sunny, but chilly Sunday afternoon at an Indian restaurant in Hitchin.
Harpreet, the owner, kindly provides the venue and serves his authentic Indian Curry, which is always well received. That's for both, the vegetarian and the meat version!
The event takes place roughly every month and is organised by our dear friend @daniellemurray, who often brings her own kit, and sometimes uses the restaurant's one. Other Hivers that take part in these events are @steevc, @purplesinger and @todayslight.
Each performer gets a set of three songs to perform; the one you'll see here was my third one and is on my list to be recorded properly..
Well, properly with my limited knowledge.. ha

Hi all in this community!
This is my first entry inspired by @mipiano and I feel a little intimidated by all the talent I see posting here, but I thought I'd give it a go, and see what happens.
As my Spanish is rudimentary, if none-existing, I wasn't sure what "Guitarra AutomΓ‘tica" meant, and assumed something to do with electric guitars, so I had made up my mind about sending my entry today.
Although, I have now read in the introduction to this week, that it's not really to do with that, I thought I'd stick with it anyhow.
The video you will see was actually recorded during lockdown when our local musical community held online get-togethers, with some live performances and some recorded, like the one I'm posting today. Members included @steevc, @daniellemurray, @purplesinger and @todayslight.
I had never really picked up an electric guitar until then. The one good thing of lockdown was, that it provided the time to try out new things and recording oneself was one of them; And I am trying to catch up on that these days.
Anyway, this isn't brand-new, but hope, that's ok.
Please excuse me for not smiling a lot.. Concentrating! :D

Mother Nature is under considerable strain with these constant drastic temperature changes, better known as global warming.
I find it very worrying that creatures (and plants) that have started to appear during the warmer weather may suffer when it suddenly gets (very) cold again!
This one made me think about that again:
After walking on a rather chilly Saturday morning, and opening the windows for some fresh air I had to rescue this little soul, who got trapped inside.
And sure enough, it didn't look very healthy and quite exhausted.. Not sure if the cold weather had caused that, but a rest on the window sill and some water managed to help refresh it.
When I took it outside into the garden, it took off without hesitation, I was very glad!
Hope, it's not getting too cold again, so it'll manage to get by!
