A pastor my entire adult life, I found myself unemployed battling depression and in the darkest valley I had ever walked through. While I am not out of the valley fully, I know there is healing in taking others on the journey with me. These talks are for anyone who has ever felt misunderstood or alone. The realization that you are not alone is something that can change the trajectory of your struggle. I am not here to give advice, I am here to offer my hand through the valley. Take a walk with me through our valleys.
Too often we are so consumed with what happened before that we stop ourselves from moving ahead. There is a freedom each of us are guaranteed but our fear of freedom stops us from fully experiencing it.
A series of unique events that reminded me through the most difficult seasons. Take a listen as David shares about them in this weeks episode.
Maybe we are called to endure AND change. Maybe we are not meant to just sit back and take the pain but instead take the steps to fix them.
How do you support those in a Valley? How do we stand by when it is hard? How can I make sure they know they are loved? Just Be A Good Person :)
I wouldn't consider myself a patient person. This Valley I am in has taught me a thing or two about patience. As much as I wish there was a magic pill to fix everything, I have to take it slow and steady. How do you survive a slow path? You celebrate each step and find the win in the small things. Take a listen to this weeks episode, titled "Celebrate The Step."
Our valleys are often times not walked through alone. Take a listen as my wife, Nevada shares our story from her perspective and encourages others to hang in there.
Sometimes all we need to get out of the valley is a moment where we look at our situation from a new perspective. We think we have seen the entire world but maybe its time to go higher to truly see that the valley is almost over.
I keep getting asked "so how are you doing now?" Well here is a little update on how I am doing. Check it out!
The only way to fully heal is to rediscover who you are. And that is the simple truth that depression is not who you are but instead just something you are walking through. It's time to rediscover ourselves.
Where did Pastor David end and Family David begin? I lived a life so severely lacking boundaries that I had no structure in my life. We serve a God of order and a great way to reclaim your life and thoughts back is to set healthy boundaries.
Everyone needs friends. Having a good support system is healthy. Knowing who belongs in your circle and who doesn't can do a lot for your mental health.
This was extremely challenging to articulate. I hope everyone is able to see my heart on this. It's time we let the professionals lead the way in mental health and the church become a resource WALKING ALONGSIDE those struggling.
Sharing your story is up to you! Share away, there is healing in it. If it's not time yet, that is okay too!! You are in control
