In this episode I compare and contrast the ways in which specifically France and Poland receive incoming migrants, primarily from Afghanistan and Ukraine.

[Editor's note: I say Rwanda is 4,000 miles away from Rwanda, I mean the UK. Second, I say Liz Truss is Boris Johnson's predecessor when I in fact men successor]
In this current events episode we discuss the Rwanda Plan, a five-year trial in the UK with the aim to regulate the influx of migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers by sending them to Rwanda. We delve into what the Rwanda Plan is, the ironies of the UK's refugee statements, the reception to the plan, and what we can do. This is an ongoing situation, so information may have changed upon release. Apologies to Lord David Pannick QC, I was unaware you were a Lord and thus referred to you as simply David Pannick. My name is Casey and this is Becoming Europe. I’m a current PhD student with MA en route at the University of Pittsburgh studying French Studies, more specifically the relationship France has with its migrant population. After studying different national and international policies proclaiming the sense of a unified cultural European identity and a sense of welcoming migrants with open arms, I created this podcast in the effort to interview those who are directly effected by these policies, migrants themselves and organizations, in order to further shed light on the real life impacts and risks of these policies. Join me in an effort of humanizing the intangibility of national/international policy and see exactly what are the stakes in Becoming Europe.
