Hey, I've got some questions for you.
Are you done living in an overcrowded city where housing is unaffordable, commutes are too long, and your quality of life is not quite what you expected it to be?
Are you thinking of relocating or even emigrating to get away from it all? If you said yes, look no further, my friend. You have found the podcast where you will learn about affordable communities that hosts a quality of life that is second to none.
Join me as I speak to people from across the beautiful prairies who have made this part of Canada their home and at the same time discover career opportunities, recreational activities and other reasons that make living on the Prairies so great.
If this sounds like something that sparks your interest, then stick around.
I am your host, Lindsay Rubeniuk, and you are listening to Life on the Prairies.
(Formally known as Immigration on the Canadian Prairies)
If you are looking to immigrate to Canada or relocate from a major urban center to a smaller community then press play. In "Let's find your Canadian town" podcast series. We look at what some people never consider and that is the importance of the "great outdoors" as well as we review the benefits of living in an affordable town.
Sure my podcast covers immigration issues and pathways but I truly feel there is a lack of understanding and awareness of all the opportunities in a small town! With this in mind, I want to introduce you to the benefits and get to know rural Canada a bit better.
I hope you take some time to join me, your prairie girl, Lindsay Rubeniuk, to discover the great life that is waiting for you!

Join me as I take an in-depth look at the IRCC's Rural Community Immigration Pilot specifically the Call For Proposals (CFP). This episode is great for those communities interested in applying and those newcomers who want to know how this initiative will work.
I will walk through each of the topics within the CFP and provide a bit of insight into how immigration works, why this will benefit rural communities and get into detail of what IRCC is expecting. I will also give my thoughts as to perhaps why some communities may just be better positioned than others.
The rural community immigration pilot aims to ensure that rural communities continue to have the ability to access programs that address labour shortages and help local businesses find the workers they need. It will provide pathways to permanent residence for newcomers who can help to overcome critical labour job shortages and want to live long term in these smaller communities.
The successful communities will launch their own immigration initiatives in the fall of 2024. In a future episode I will look at how this process may work for those in Canada but are here temporarily. Being a rural person who currently lives & works in a rural Canadian town I will give you an insight into rural Canada and its possibilities!

There is no one I have met yet that could provide better advice than what it is like to not only live and work on the Prairies but now to retire here too. Join me as I chat with Ms. Frances Stewart about her very successful life living in a rural town. What she says may just surprise you, as it is not who you know but what you, as a person has to offer, could make all the difference. Her daughter, Carol Stewart, also joins us to discuss what it was like to immigrate at the age of 8, be raised in a Prairie town and return to the same community years later. If you are someone looking to relocate to an awesome town or immigrate and wondering what makes a successful newcomer, then hit play because we got it all right here!

If your business is short on skilled workers or if you are an international graduate in Canada with a PGWP than perhaps you should connect with each other. A Post-Graduate Worker Permit is permitted to those individuals who have come to Canada and successfully completed a college or university program. People who hold a PGWP are hard-working and driven people who would love to stay and work in Canada. Seeing that businesses throughout the prairies are struggling to obtain skilled workers this is a great opportunity for you to attract these motivated individuals. Further as an employer you can nominate the skilled worker for Permanent Residency with no cost to you! It truly is a win-win, what business doesn't want a hard-working, motivated employee and what international graduate doesn't want a great career to live and work on in the Prairies! Enjoy the listen! Dauphin was featured as one of Canada’s top 10 prime adventure towns, “where the grass really is greener” in the March 2007 issue of Explore Magazine. And why not? Surrounded by rich farmland and natural beauty, it is in the heart of the Parkland region. Just 300 km from Winnipeg, or 35 minutes by daily scheduled flights, Dauphin is a prime year-round destination with diverse nature-based attractions, a rich culture and history, along with world-class festivals. Manufacturing, education and a growing business community complement its capacity as a regional service centre for health care and retail in the Parkland.
