Hosted by the Hmong American Student Association (HASA) from the University of Wisconsin Madison, this podcast seeks to highlight the stories of Hmong students on campus. Through their stories, we discover the experiences they undergo and the impact the Hmong culture has them.
Episode 4 highlights the story of freshman Chao Xiong at the University of Wisconsin Madison as he discusses his identity as a HMoob male and the experiences of witnessing the HMoob culture and traditions first hand. He talks about the importance of preserving HMoob traditions and staying connected to our roots. In Episode 3, our guest, Juliet Chang, talks about the challenges and beauty of growing up as a Hmong woman. Juliet is from Sheboygan and is currently a sophomore at UW-Madison. She has a certificate in Asian American studies and is majoring in social work and educational policies.
Episode 2 highlights brothers Jacob Vang and Kaleb Vang's experiences being biracial. They are both currently seniors at UW-Madison. They talk about what they love about their HMoob identities ranging from their favorite Hmoob foods and what they love about their family. They also open up about the challenges they face with their identities and the impact of their Hmoob culture.
Episode 1 highlights the story of Memee Moua's journey being HMoob and first generation. She is currently a junior at UW-Madison as well as a nursing student. She talks about her family's influence on her educational goals, her connection to her HMoob identity while coming to college, and life lessons she learned.
