Despite the festive mood that christmas lights are supposed to bring during the holidays, the ever so genius Coldplay translates to this beautiful track the valid reality Christmas isn't always merry. One way to try to address this is to write a song about it. You may feel better after, or you won't. And that's okay. The important thing is to try and work on the things you can control.

I recorded this 2 years ago in 2019. Although I would say this year is relatively better compared to last year, I still found myself struggling with being merry last Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Still, I am looking forward to a better year next year (which is...a few days from now, actually!!).

For now, let me replay for the nth time Coldplay's Christmas Lights. ✨

fate is such a troll sometimes. because, what are the odds that i get to discover this song on the same day of your flight? (today)

crazy, right?

this is why i knew i had to record a cover of this song from MONSTA X.

and, maybe, i'll see you again. one day, i will. maybe.

"You taste like wine on my tongue

Don't know if you're good for me"

Too much of anything may be harmful. But a glass of wine, just one glass, may not be that bad.

A song written by someone who wants to be with someone who is scared to be with someone.

"Come near, rest here

Rest with me, find rest in me

You said,

"I don't want to believe you,

'cause if this gets real,

what would be the catch?"

Take risks, jump in

Be vulnerable, you're safe with me

But, you said,

"Oh no, not to the unknown.

But, I'm ready to step out of my comfort zone"

I wrote this song after someone told me a monumental "I'm here" in the middle of a pandemic.

When everyone's scared.

When thingsare uncertain.

When people would rather be selfish.

The incredible difference it makes.

"Rest now

Go ahead and close your eyes

Try to sleep tonight

‘Cause I’m here

Don’t you fret

I’m here

Hush now

Come and let me dry your tears

I’ll take captive all your fears

I’m here

No need to fret

I’m here

Beside you

To hold you

I will never leave

I’m here with you

Take my hand

Take a breath

Let’s be scared together

And then be brave together"

This is a very short original (written in Filipino) about feeling scared about one's feelings and that, only the stars and the moon are the ones aware of said feelings. Respond to those feelings and taking a step closer to certainty, however, are worth it. So, you decide to open the door.

saksi ang mga bituin at buwan

(the stars and the moon are witnesses)

sa nga salitang iaalay ko sa'yo

(to the words that i will soon tell you)

bubuksan ang pintong patungo sa'yo

(i will bow open the door that leads to you)

patungo sa bagay na sigurado

(that door towards certainty)

A very short original (written in Filipino) that talks about being doomed because...one has fallen. It's really that

simple. 😅

nako, naloko na (crap, this isn't good.)

nahulog na ako (i have fallen)

paano itatago, (how do i hide this,)

kung nahulog na ako sa'yo (when i've fallen for you?)

If it isn't obvious yet, I definitely have a strong affinity for the stars.

This short original (written in Filipino) is about your person being able to wipe every tear that you have cried, yet, only the stars and God know and hear about this wonderful thing that your person has done for you.

Saksi ang mga tala

(The stars have witnessed)

Sa mga luhang pinawi mo

(All my tears that you've wiped)

Dininig ni Bathala

(God has heard)

Ang bawat letrang iniaalay ko sa'yo

(Every letter of all that I want to tell you)

The title is self-explanatory, really.

If the world was ending, would you come over? Would you stay with me? In this world full of uncertainty, would you be the one certain thing?

Naks.

So, Google Photos reminded me that this time last year (Oct 2020), in the middle of what was then a 6-month old pandemic, I did a cover of this timely song from JP Saxe and Julia Michaels. I originally posted this on Instagram as an Instagram Story (silently hoping that my intended recipient wil get to listen to this and understand that this cover was FOR him 😅🥲), so bear with the weird transition please.

BUT ANYWAY. Hahaha!

This is a really good song and I hope to be able to do a full cover of this but I don't have a guitar anymore. Maybe soon. :)

Playing aeound with BandLab again. It's amazing how I can do a "duet" with Bang Chan of Stray Kids. 😅

Reese Lansangan, one of the best singer-songwriters in the Philippines today, released her latest album, Time Well Spent.

I have listened to the album for n times already and each song is special in their own way, but I have a particular fondness for "Orbiting".

Here's an acapella cover of my favorite part.

got bored and explored the app called BandLab. and, what better way to test this app than by covering eaJ and keshi's brilliant collaboration, Pillows.

wrote this, in the hope that he'd choose to stay.

he did stay.

but he's still leaving.

so, there.

you're always the best part of my day

oh how i wish

that you would choose to stay

can i be honest, and selfishly wish and say?

oh, please choose to stay

oh, i wish you'd choose to stay

choose to stay

stay with me

for one more day

i wrote this to try to document the feeling of starting fall in love with a person and trying to downplay my feelings because of fear of the consequences brought by the stupid things I've done in the past.

Woah, that was a mouthful!! 😅

I realized that, you can always be on guard with walls so high up, because you don't want to mess up again. But, when you find that special someone who will make you feel brave enough to try again, then you'd see that falling in love is worth trying again...if that makes sense.

This pandemic has affected all of us in every way imaginable. I have learned a lot of things this season, but one crucial lesson I've learned is to not take things and people for granted. Not anymore. I know tomorrow isn't guaranteed, but it is only know that I felt that truth to be so real. If the world was ending, have I hugged my loved ones enough? Did I say I-love-you enough? Are there still things I have not yet done but wanted to do?

I have learned to appreciate people more. I wasn't like this before, but now, I would really message people who are dear to me and thank them for their existence. I am sentimental like that, but, hey, like I said, this pandemic has transformed me radically.

I just can't wait to be with other people again.

enough? Did I say I-love-you enough? Are there still things I have not yet done but wanted to do?

It is a huge blessing to wake up every day and be able to live again. So, we should try not to waste every waking day. So, LIVE. :)

But if the world was ending, you'd come over, right?

You'd come over and you'd stay the night

Would you love me for the hell of it?

All our fears would be irrelevant

If the world was ending, you'd come over, right?

The sky'd be falling and I'd hold you tight

And there wouldn't be a reason why

We would even have to say goodbye

If the world was ending, you'd come over, right? Right?
