A forum to rehash some great memories from our semester abroad in Toledo, Espana during the Spring of 2002.

Hey kids, if you're up for it, sign up for a Flickr account and post up your Spain pics and I'll put them on the blog for everyone to see!
Speaking of Flickr, I was milling around and found this girl's photos. Does this setting look familiar to anyone? Ay, mi pobre corazon!
Hey chicos, if you're not using Flickr, you should really check it out. It's a picture social networking site that is absolutely fantastic. To get you going, go here to see betso's fotos from her trip to Spain with Joe.
Fotos are "tagged" with different labels. So you can go in and type in "Spain" and see a whole bunch of shots that people have tagged as such. It's pretty fantastic. Que os disfruteis!
Chicos, I'll tell you again: if you're not listening to the Notes from Spain podcast by Ben Curtis, you're really missing out!

Originally uploaded by ndbutter. Hola a todos! It's been awhile since I posted here, but I wanted to let you know that I haven't forgotten about you. Here's a good shot of some table dancing in Washington Street. Good times, huh? Thanks to all who keep posting comments. I always get and enjoy them. Reijula, I know that's not your name anymore, but I'm still calling you that so deal with it. Thanks for the invite to Mad River a couple weeks ago, but I already had plans that night!
Betso, we'll get you set up on here so you can post and whatnot. We need some more pics of Jose.
All, does anyone know where Marcos is? Has anyone heard from him? Was just wondering. What a great kid.
Cuidaros hasta la proxima!
Hola a todos. Just wanted to let everyone know that if you care to listen to a muy borracha futura senora butter, you can do so over at Butter's Podcast. I'm not talking just slight borracha, I'm talking Mateo swinging off a balcony in Barcelona borracha.
Enjoy!
For any of you Chicago-ites out there, I will be in town beginning tonight (Wednesday) through Friday, and will be in South Bend for the big matchup vs. the Mormons. If anyone is around, give me a call (same cell number as in college). It will give you a sneak look at Future Mrs. Butter, as I'll be showing her around campus for the first time.
Take care all!
Hey everyone! The comments from all these "randoms" as Katie likes to call them are what's known as "comment spam". Just like email, spammers have begun to infiltrate blogs in an attempt to direct traffic to their seedy sites. I have turned on word verification, which means that you will now have to retype a word shown on the screen whenever you want to post a comment. This ensures that the comment is being made by a real person and not some computer program. While this is somewhat annoying, hopefully it will get rid of some of these idiots on our proprietary Spain blog. Espero que os encontreis bien!
Finally upated Butter's Podcast, kids. Sorry for my laziness lately.
Here's a picture that Betso has again failed to post. How is it that I'm better at posting the photos that you take? jaja!
Still don't have tickets to BYU. Help!
This is going to be a slight rant here, kids.
Kelly and I having been planning on coming out to the Bender for the BYU game for quite some time now. It recently came to my attention that the MS Acct program was offering tickets to the game to alumni and their spouses. Since I don't have tickets yet, I emailed our program director and asked if she could bend the rules ever so slightly so that I may purchase a ticket for my SOON-TO-BE wife. My request garnered a rather curt response from the woman pictured to your left of, "tickets are for spouses ONLY, sorry".
Are you kidding me? I just got through paying this place $150,000 over the course of five years, and they don't have it within themselves to allow me the priviledge of purchasing a ticket for my future wife so that I can introduce her to the Notre Dame experience? You are reading the words of one very pissed off Double Domer.
Needless to say, the folks in the MS Acct office will NEVER have to worry about excess demand from me EVER again. They can besar my culo delgado.
Betso is doing a crappy job so far of posting pictures to the blog, so I'm helping her.
I'm assuming from this picture that she's still dating Joe "Jose" Gardener (sorry, I don't remember how to spell his name, Betso). You may notice the shirt he's wearing is the 2003 version of "The Shirt" given to us for free by the MSA program. Joe and I had some good times in B Law II coming up with BS to fill up a 15 page paper. I think that really prepared us for careers in the Big 4.
For those of you meeting up at Michigan State, have a cerveza for me. If anyone comes across any BYU tickets, I'm trying to bring the future Sra. Mantequilla to the game and am looking for a pair. Thanks!
Hola a todos!
Wondering if anyone has any suggestions for the next edition of "White Kid Reads Rap Lyrics" on Butter's Podcast. BP #5 featured "Gin and Juice". Finnane, I know you're a rap fantatic. Hit me up a lil some' some', yo!
Hola a todos!
Ok, I'm changing the format of the Toledo Haluego blog. I just learned that you can set up a "team blog" whereby multiple people can post to the same blog. I want you guys to be able to post your thoughts right on the front page where I can, not just in the comments sections. That way everyone will be more likely to see what's going on.
This way people can post pictures and whatnot real easily for everyone to see and you won't have to do it through me. Should be a cool thing for us.
So...if you would like to post on Toledo Haluego, shoot me an email. I have to send you an invitation and then you just make a Blogger account and you can sign in and post.
Gracias!
This is what I like to see--more interaction on the Toledo blog. Way to go on the comments kids. Doesn't anyone else want to start a blog yet? I'll subscribe and you'll be famous!
Side note: BP #4 is up and ready!
Betso: "Mateo, you're right: people need to blog more. This is easier than I thought!
If Betso likes it, it has to be a good idea.
Also, just so all of your fears as assuaged: my legs are still nearly as chicken-y now as they were in the below picture. Ay, piernas de gallina!
Okay, so apparently by "chico nuevo", I actually meant "serious boyfriend of over two years". Sorry Finnane. Obviously I'm out of touch with everything going on in everyone's life. This is why everyone needs to blog more!
Ok, Sarah asks, "When is everyone going to games this year? Maybe we could reunirnos?". This of course is the most provocative question she's asked since, "What exactly is a rusty trombone?" in the Hostal Benidorm in Barcelona.
Well, Finnane, you are in luck because I am also planning on heading out to the BYU game at the end of October, and I'm bringing along my special lady so she can experience the Notre Dame...uh...err....experience.
Is anyone else planning on going out for that one? People in Chicago have no excuse. You have to be there by default. But it might be fun to do a little sangria tailgate if we could arrange it. One minor problem is that I don't have any tickets yet. So if anyone hears of a couple of billetes for BYU weekend, definitely do let old Mateo know!
Post comments on the blog and let us all know what's up!!
So, scanning across some of Betso's photos, does Finnane have a chico that we're not hearing about? What gives? Mateo needs to saber!
Buenos dias a todos! Thanks to Estif for his encouragement of my podcast! Come on over and savor the flavor of Butter at butterspodcast.blogspot.com. Three podcasts up so far, with more on the way! Send suggestions. Maybe we could do some sort of Spain podcast.
If you haven't already, you really need to check out the Notes from Spain podcasts. Ben Curtis does some really cool stuff, and his latest podcast is actually in Spanish with his wife Marina. Very cool! www.notesfromspain.com...
Hasta luego...
Finally, I completed my first podcast! Nothing special, but it's a start. If you care to check it out, you can download it here. Just right-click, click "save link as" and save it down to your hard drive (for all of you that are computer morons). As I said on my other blog, it's still a work in progress with the levels and whatnot. Anyway, enjoy!
Que os disfruteis!
Much thanks to Rico who left me a voice mail over the weekend! It included the phrase, "Bring your fiance down here so I can get drunk and hit on her!" Ay, Rico, ay.
Ok, everyone...here are the long-awaited pictures from Betso. You can check out all of her pictures on line at www.flickr.com. Her screen name is "Betso". You should check that out over there because she has little captions up that I am incapable of including on this blog. Consequently, my screen name is "ndbutter" if anyone ever wants to look at any of my pics.
Looks like a good time was had by all at these two weddings. Unfortunately I couldn't make it to Bottitta's because my sister got married the day before. I was a mess the next day anyway, so it was probably for the best. How old are we, by the way? That's disgusting to think about. Anyway, glad to see everyone looking great. I especially enjoyed the pictures of Bethany dancing. I heard she got married too! That's awesome. I'll never forget when Jose told her he loved her while on the phone at the Alcazar and she hung up on him in terror. Nice move, Bethania! How far we've come!
Hopefully we'll all be able to see each other at some point soon.
Cuidaros!
Good day all! Well, it's been a long time since I did a substantial post. Please accept my apologies if you've been checking the site only to find no new information. Unfortunately this time of year is a bit busy here in the wonderful world of public accounting. I'm also trying to close on a new house and plan a wedding, so I just haven't had a ton of time for blogging.
ND football starts in exactly 24 days vs. Pitt. Fall practice actually started this past Monday. Head over to Irish Eyes if you haven't already to check out all the latest news and info.
On a related note, I'm trying to think about what I want to do with my podcast when I actually start it (which I'm hoping to do once I get into my house). One of the ideas I had was to do sort of a "gamewatch" podcast where you get to listen to me watch an ND football game. I thought that might be kind of an entertaining idea. If you have any other ideas, please drop me an email and let me know what you think. Other than that I was going to try to do a summary of interesting news, sort of like the links I've been posting over on my other blog at butterspodcast.blogspot.com.
On another note, Betsy posted a comment asking if you all could send me pictures to post on the blog. ABSOLUTELY! The easiest way to do this may be to throw them up on Flickr (www.flickr.com) so I can just post the image link in the html of my page. I think that's a great idea, betso.
Have a tremendous day!
Hello all! Sorry for the lack of posting lately. I've been mostly focused on my other blog. As I see Spain related content out there on the web, I'll be sure to pass it along.
haluego
Remember the smoking in Spain? Remember how everyone with the exception of Zoe and Alyse freaking hated it (excluding the occasional "I've been drinking too much and want a cigarette" thing, right Bottitta?)? Well, after a forest fire recently caused a lot of damage over there, the government has outlawed smoking in the Spain countryside. I found it interesting that the article mentions that nearly 30 percent of Spaniards over the age of 16 smoke. I would have guessed it was much higher than that.
