0:19 Welcome I am your host Melissa Taylor It's Gravy Baby Podcast.
0:48 Deb with Art & Grace tells how she shines her light southern style. Deb started doing her art after the loss of her mother. Deb is from Fort Worth Texas and she started doing art as stress relief and an outlet to just take time after the loss of her mother. Deb's mother Millie passed from Alzheimer's disease.
Deb and I met in Heidi Easley's PPHQ in 2020. She has an online community where she paints with other women and is helping them to reduce stress, increase joy with the art they create in her online community.
Deb's art that she teaches is fun not perfect. It is really imperfect art not fine art at all. Her group is for ladies who are needing to destress and paint together. "Life is a mess and we are messy." Deb says.
3:03 the title of the episode is Hold Your Horses because we want to bring awareness to the Alzheimer Organization and letting everyone know about resources that are available for them.
Deb is shining her light by giving back in memory of her mother starting June 1st-19th. She is bring more awareness for the Alzheimer Organization. Alzheimer's disease patients can not take for themselves and it is important that caregivers understand that they have to be patient and allow them to do tasks in their time and speed. Caregivers have to hold their Horses and just love on their love ones and care for them patiently. It can be very difficult for the family because they are seeing their love one deteriorating before them.
6:06 What to expect at 2nd Annual Alzheimer's Awareness Event: free art and craft tutorials. date June 1-19th are all the free activities and on the 20th we are have a paid paint party with a special guest. Please come and join us to help raise money for a great cause.
8:47 What is Deb's favorite color? Pink I love bright shades of pink any color of pink. I love hot pink and all shades. 9:07Deb answered," I really never cared for purple till now and after I got involved the the Alzheimer's association. I find myself now going to the color purple and the hot pink shades now. "11:05 If you could travel and create where would it be and what would you create?" I love nature and it hard to decide because I have not traveled much. "says Deb." I think that Ireland would be a beautiful place with all the bright colors and shades of green. I just love nature and I just think it speaks to me. I would just stop and paint nature ;that is what I like to paint. I am not picky I would go anywhere. "say Deb.12:07 Art and nature is so healing. Jesus even went to the garden. Many times we can go been in nature and be with him. 13:00 Deb talks about her mother. "My mother was such a good mother. I respected her so much because she was such a sweet Godly woman that taught me so much. If I can be a forth of the person she was I would be happy. "13:38Deb said," Millie took care of both her parents at the same time while they both had the disease. She was such a strong woman and never ask for help. She cared for them both and even my grandfather passed in her home. She took care of her mother till last few week then she was placed into a nursing home only because my mom could not lift her. "16:00 I describe my experience with doing the Alzheimer's walk and how they give you pin wheels and each are colored with a meaning.18:15 How it is such a great visual seeing all the pin wheels in the ground looking like a flower garden with all the different colors. It gives you a visual because each pinwheel represents a person fighting the disease currently, passed from the disease or caring for someone with the disease.19:01 thank you for being here with us Deb Brown make sure to follow her at @artgracepaint on face book, Instagram www.instagram.com/artgracepaint ,Pinterest ArtGracePaint her email is https://www.artgracepaint.com/

0:15 Hey guys welcome to the first podcast called It is Gravy Baby. I am your host Melissa Taylor . Our goal is to inspire you so you can have a more positive day 2:48 episode 1 is Momma Tried just like the country song our 3 guests today are3:10 Debbie Viola she is an artist from New York and she teaches others how to paint virtually. How she is creative and inspires others? March 6th, 2020 she started going live and she wanted to hold herself accountable. She went on her business page on face book @artwithdebbieviola and she just chatted, painted with soft music in the background .I started getting messages thanking me, Debbie said. " They tell me that I help reduce stress and this helps them sleep. They tell me I have a soothing voice. I still go live but I now only do 4 nights. 5:39 I am Jennifer Viola Tand It is interesting to see how positivity can go along way. I paint Christmas ornaments. I paint portraits of peoples homes on the ornaments. It is my 1 commission. When a family moves they ask me to paint their home on the ornament as a reminder for them .I started doing pandemic ornaments. After Julianna said ornaments with toilet paper. I did Baby It Is Covid Outside and it brought a lot of smiles to people. 8:05 Julianna Tand I sculp clay figures of families. I raffle tickets and raise money for the Ronald McDonald House. When I was 6 years old I made a sculpture of my family for my grandparents anniversary. My mom posted it on Facebook. Then everyone said I love this could you then make one for my family . I said sure I made a business to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House. When I was 6 yrs old I raised $200 dollars for the Ronald McDonald House.
The next year I made $500 and then in 2020 I had made $700 . I then decided to do a sculpture of Bernie Sanders and his mittens because he was popular and my goal was $500. I raised $3,100 all by face book and selling chances. Please check out the amazing things Julianna has accomplished : interviewed by Lester Holt of NBC Nightly News, on Newsday, interview by Shonna Narine of News 12. 11:46 Melissa says this tells me one thing and that she has good parents and role models. That is why I titled this episode Momma Tried 3 generations of artist. Debbie has past down "how to be good role model" to her daughter Jennifer. Jennifer has now pass this to Julianna and her brother Brandon as well. 14:45 Debbie we took a Mediterranean cruise to Italy. It was so beautiful and I vision a Tuscan villa and poppies. I just see painting there. 15:23 Jennifer I would go to Lake Tahoe and I think Julianna would agree with me. We we want to make sure we travel together as a family after being a part. In 2019I vacationed it was beautiful like a paradise with the mountains, trails and blue water. 16:24 Julianna agrees.17:00 If you could paint or sculp anybody alive or dead who would it be? . 17:02 Julianna I would sculp my great grandma because she is the oldest family member and we have a lot of memories even though she can not remember them now. 18:17 Debbie says She would paint Gary Sinise I meet him at a Interion design event. I talk with him about his organization (Gary Sinise Foundation) he builds smart homes for veterans. I want to get involved maybe paint a Patriotic series and donate 50% of the proceeds someday. This little girl has inspired me to do that. 19:45 Jennifer this takes me back when I was Julianna age. My teacher was Jan Buckles she was amazing she taught me how to serve. I am a teacher now to this day because of her. 21:42 follow Debbie @artbydebbieviola on fb and Instagram , debbieviola.com/blog, Jennifer at Facebook and Instagram Hand painted Christmas Ornaments by Jennifer Tand and Journey with Jennifer 22:12 Julianna on FB Julianna's Works of HeART.
