This is week 12 of 52 Weeks of Guided Prayer for the formation and planting of Emmaus Church. This is our final week in the Lord's Prayer as we pray for God's protection for Emmaus in the face of temptation to sin. Join me as we pray for God's protection of us and for our city's joy!
This is week 11 of 52 weeks of guided prayer for the formation and planting of Emmaus Church. We have entered a critical stage in the life and formation of Emmaus - we started our Core Team meetings last week! So, please continue praying with us and for us as we labor together for the cause of the Gospel in Ankeny.
This is week 10 of 52 Weeks of Guided Prayer for the formation and planting of Emmaus Church. This week we spend time praying through the confession section of the Lord's Prayer, a simple and straightforward prayer of confession. This prayer of Jesus' teaches us to be a Church that is more deeply aware of God's holiness, our sin, and our need for Jesus that we might delight more in Jesus together!
This is week 9 of 52 Weeks of Guided Prayer for the formation and planting of Emmaus Church. This week we consider Jesus' prayer where he teaches us to pray for our bread, reminding us that we are dust - needy people - relying on a self-sufficient God who loves us despite the fact we are dust. Join me as we pray for the needs of Emmaus.
This is the 8th week of 52 weeks of Guided Prayer for the formation and planting of Emmaus Church in Ankeny. This week we jump into the Lord's Prayer and use it as way to pray for Emmaus with one thing in mind - allowing Jesus' prayer to help us know what belongs as essential to our identity and purpose. This is our 5th week of Guided Prayer for the formation and planting of Emmaus Church. We continue using the Athanasian Creed as prompts for our prayers. This intensely Trinitarian, and rather dense, prayer is being used intentionally to - much like the earliest Centuries of the Church - start on the right footing - with God as Trinity. We do not focus near enough on this mind boggling doctrine. So, be patient, dig in, and enjoy pressing in deeper each week as we consider God as Trinity in relationship to the planting of Emmaus Church.
This is our 4th week of 52 weeks of Guided Prayer for the formation and planting of Emmaus Church in Ankeny. This week we are continuing our way through the Athanasian Creed as we pray for Emmaus to not only be a Church that is doctrinally established in the Trinitarian worship of God, but also to be conformed further into his image. Join me, if you are able, twice this week to pray for Emmaus.
This is our 3rd week of 52 weeks of guided prayer for Emmaus Church as we prepare to plant in 2023. Join us this week as we continue to use a section from the Athanasian Creed as a prompt for praying for us. This week we zero in on how doctrine and mission are not two different, or opposed, ideas, but one. 1 Timothy 4:16 is our paradigm, where Paul tells Timothy to watch his life and doctrine closely, that he might save his hearers. We want to be a doctrinally sound Church not only because that is Biblical and glorifying to God, but also because soundness of doctrine is a strategy for mission - a strategy for the joy of Ankeny! So, take time this week to pray this prayer with me at least two times if you can. Thank you!
