In this podcast episode, we hear from Fabiana, a career consultant who has been advising people around her about career growth all her life. She recently realized that this was a talent and started thinking about designing her own career the way she wanted it. She is a career consultant more oriented to action and likes to jump in as a second brain but bringing her heart into the equation. Passion has been leading Fabiana's professional journey, and she is interested in helping people reposition themselves in the job market or industries.
Fabiana is passionate about the future of work and has been experimenting and learning about the intersectionality. She started working in career strategy pro bono to gain insights and interest in helping herself and others repositioning in the complete job market or industries. She is particularly interested in helping people reskill to thrive and compete in the work arena.
Fabiana explains that the way we work is changing, and the quicker we adapt, the better we will ride the wave of transition. She advises that we should work on our clarity, strategies, and implement actions. We should start with goals, know our strengths, and gather feedback from people around us. Our careers should be defined by our values and our strengths, and our professions should not be our identity.
Fabiana concludes by advising that we should be patient and enjoy the journey, and we don't get instant gratification.

Charlotte, originally from The Netherlands, decided to move to Sydney ten years ago with just a suitcase and lots of excitement about the future.
The move brought many opportunities, both personally and professionally.
She is now in Lisbon and has a new job as a Creative Marketing strategist with personal creative projects at a side as well.
“Moving abroad gave me the opportunity and confidence boost that I needed to go out there and live my life”.
The experience of moving abroad had an influence on her professional life too.
“Meeting new people from all over the world and seeing and hearing how they approach certain things. That is something that really inspired me and allowed me to see new opportunities for myself too”. Being confronted with different situations and scenarios daily, builds resilience and ability to adapt.
“Deciding to quit my job and go for a role in a startup company that would pay less, but I saw it as an amazing opportunity”.

Marta was living in Turkey when she became fascinated with child development while observing how her children were adapting to a new culture without the support of the extended family.
It was during her maternity leave that she started researching on how she could better support her children when transitioning to a new country.
Marta discovered Montessori pedagogy, and instantly loved how its principles would have helped her children with an holistic approach focusing on both emotional and academic development.
Marta had a brilliant International career in Marketing, but when she became a mother, she knew that she would have had to take time to raise her children and be present for them during the formative years. That's what her mum did, giving her stability and values in her upbringing.
What made Marta reflect and consider to change career was a shift of focus: what mattered then as a mother was different compared to her while an individual with an ambitious career.
She then decided to retrain to acquire knowledge about early years education.

This episode focuses on Reinvention types – Life stages
Every woman knows that maternity will have more than one impact over her life.
Personally, emotionally and, of course, professionally.
Many of us worry about the future of our career or job position during that delicate phase, which is becoming a mother.
But one important thing is the way we look at the impact motherhood can have on our lives.
Removing the negative connotations can help everyone to open up to new opportunities. It also helps approaching different phases of life with curiosity.
Marise was curious and motivated.
Her love of learning and reading since childhood helped her to pursue the new journey and retrain to create her new profession.
She describes the steps like in a tale: ”Slowly by slowly following the breadcrumbs…”
“I realized that I have been crying in my pillow every night for the last 18 years in my finance career”.
Marise knew she wanted to make a change, and becoming a mother was the kick starter of the process.
“It would have been too sad for my kids to see how sad I was in my old finance job, and I wanted to show them that you can change. When you put your mind to something you can do anything”
Sometimes we need a big event to realize that some situations are no longer bearable and we find the strength or courage to change.

- Planning and preparing to become parents was the first research Marise did that eventually set her on her reinvention path.
- Her strengths, talents and positive mindset were the assets she used to support her commitment to the change.
- How important it is to focus on the ego: self healing and the work on personal development were the beginning of her transformation.
Learning about Self Care and self love, feminine and masculine energy, different outcomes allowed her to design a more healthy life, filled with awareness. This process impacted all the relationships she was engaging with, both personal and professional.

Very often we believe that the normal professional path is: we have an aspiration, we get an education, and we go out to find the job we were trained for.
Many times these paths are not linear, but include shifts. Those shifts typically happen as people make discoveries about themselves and gain new insights about their preferences.

- Having the courage of being a trailblazer, opens up opportunities

REINVENTION TYPE: THE ONE THAT HAPPENED WHILE ABROAD
Many expat spouses believe that a move abroad will result in a detrimental outcome for their corporate career. What if the consequences of that move would be unexpected?
Linda Mueller experienced this, she went through a change that helped her to understand more about identity, self-worth and aspirations.
