In this episode I talk about a recent encounter I had with extreme envy and jealousy. After a long evening of mentally bullying myself I decided that I absolutely hated feeling envious and jealous of other people. I hated feeling like my emotions and thoughts were out of my control. So I did what I also do, I went straight to Google to try and figure out an answer. I realized a few crucial things when it comes to envy and jealous but most importantly I finally understood what I could do to use them to my advantage. I share everything I learned and more in this episode!

(Disclaimer: this episode was originally supposed to be a video episode but due to technical difficulties it is now only an audio episode)
Ive been thinking lately about my appearance and I have this urge to try and look more aesthetic. Is that fake of me? I see other girls on social media who just look absolutely perfect, they fit into an aesthetic category, their pages are visually appealing. Do these "aesthetic people" have to try hard to be this way or is it all natural? Is it bad to try and make my life look visually better than it actually is? Is being "aesthetic" just a scam to get us to partake in over consumption and trends? I cover all this and more in this weeks episode.

This is the last Monday of 2023!!! Wow... time flies. I think at this point in time my biggest focus is trying to just organize everything going on in my life and figuring out a game plan for 2024. I did some research on New Years resolutions and came to find that only 8% of the people who set resolutions actually follow through with them. How can this be??! Why does this happen? Today I will be talk ing about the pitfalls that I think lead to resolutions being abandoned by February and will be sharing some tips for how you can create the habits that you will need in order to follow through with your 2024 resolutions.

Happy holidays everyone! Thanksgiving and Hanukkah have passed and Christmas and kwanzaa are coming later this month. Its a time when were hanging out with family, chilling out at home, eating cookies, and are given a chance to relax. In this episode, I just want to address the fact that even though this time of year is associated with being “jolly” and “happy” it is also normal and okay to feel a little stressed or overwhelmed at times. In this episode, I talk about one of my biggest stressors and how to overcome these overwhleming feelings during the holidays. I also talk about some new rituals and traditions you can implement to “spice up the holidays” and ways to overcome the classic holiday stressors.

In this episode me and Joy sit down for a long chat about first apartments, social media, success stories, and so much more. (For a little background) Joy and Me met on set for a short film earlier this month. She has been singing and songwriting since a very young age and is also currently writing her own book and working on her poetry. She had lived in the Boston area for a while before returning to live back home. After hearing all of this about her I immediately knew that there was so much we could all learn from her and her experiences.

Forgiveness is something that ive struggled with. Sometimes I hold grudges and cant let things go, other times I feel that ive been hurt in ways that I'll never truly be able to overcome. For a longtime I thought forgiveness meant letting someone get away with their actions and let them off the hook. Was I really letting them "get away with it"? Where do you even start? I cover all of these questions, share some tools for how to forgive, and so much more in this episode.

This episode has been a long time coming. Ive briefly mentioned in previous episodes that I graduated high school early.. but Ive never really talked in depth about my experience or explained what "doubling up" even means. It was this time last year when I sat down with my counselor and officially changed my schedule to become a senior and double up in classes. In honor of last year, I thought now was the perfect time to explain a few things.... In this episode, Im going to be talking all about graduating early. Ill be sharing my tips on what steps you can take to graduate early ( if this is something you are interested in), share and de-bunk some misconceptions, and also talk about the Pro's and Con's of graduating high school in three years. Last but not least, Im going to share my overall experience with being in school and the few mindset shifts Ive had. Also, It's important to note that every state has different rules and requirements for graduation. There are also different factors ( credits, what classes you have/ have not took, grades etc..) that determine if you can graduate early. Anyways, this episode is all about my high school experience and graduating in 3 years. Enjoy <3

Lately, I have realized how often I'm being interrupted and distracted by the notifications on my phone. It's starting to bug me. It's funny because I used to really like getting notifications. It made me feel popular and liked. But now, Im starting to feel like notifications are constantly disturbing my train of thought. I did some research on this topic and came across a TED Talk. The information I found shocked me. Maybe Do Not Disturb should be apart of my daily life? This episode is about my personal experience regarding my phone and notifications and options we have to take control of our focus.

These past few weeks I have been focused on forming new habits. I want to start of this new part of life with solid habits that can follow me for years to come, one of these habits is going to the gym. Looking over the past few years Ive realized that I have never been able to stay consistent with the gym. Its not like I was ever taking the gym seriously, but I still didn't expect that I would be so on and off with the process. This led me to realize that staying consistent has become very hard, and I think It's hard for a lot of us. I formed a theory. I think I know why going to the gym and staying consistent Is so difficult. I also think I know how we can fix our mindsets and make going to the gym a whole lot easier, because why is doing something so good for yourself, becoming so difficult?

This weeks episode is fairly short and light hearted. I usually like to talk about really intriguing topics or least something that offers a new perspective. However, last week I was really lacking the motivation to plan a full episode and I didn't want to talk about something if I wasn't going to be fully present with what I was saying. So instead, I decided to talk about the things in my life that have made me happy and/or think clearer. I talk about cleaning my room, spending less time on my phone, coffee, and how I now plan my day to maximize my productivity!

In my last podcast episode about sustainability, I briefly covered the idea of gardening/ owning plants. I think there are many well rounded, eco-friendly aspects of plants and gardening. Whether or not you decide to grow some of your own food, or just have a pretty house plant. I think it is environmentally friendly, good for our mental health, and a great way to liven up our living space! Even though I have a rough past with plants, only grew 1 carrot, and severely water deprived my Covid plant..Im giving it a try! This is your sign to get a plant! Like I said in my last episode, I want to try gardening. These past few days I've bought some plants, potted them, and started this new plant owning era. I think It's all about doing what you can and trying new things. My goal is to one day grow some of my own food so that its less trips to the store and less plastic packaging. I hope you enjoy this episode!

Lately, Ive been thinking of our environment. There are so many things that are stressful and overbearing to think about. There's plastic pollution, Methane emissions and green house gasses, micro plastics, the burning of fossil fuels and non renewable resources, and honestly just the overall wastefulness that we see every day in our society. I decided that I wanted to do my research and figure out what it is that I can do to become a more sustainable person. This episode is an accumulation of what Ive learned this past week. Its not much and I don't know everything, but It's something. I think that's what matters. I talk about how we should educate ourselves in any way we can and begin to make swaps and sustainable choices with our dollar and voice.
Originally, I wanted to talk about composting and how we can naturally decompose our food waste at home. This is because food waste in landfills releases methane that is a huge contributor to global warming. Except, I realized I don't actually know enough about composting to talk about it or share advice. Im still on this Journey and Im hoping to start my own compost bin within the next few weeks.
Here are some of the compost videos that I have been learning from. If you are interested, check them out! ( I will be doing a podcast episode on composing once Ive done it and know enough to share advice )

Since the end of the school year, I've been trying to take the time to set a morning routine that actually works. For the longest time I had either had no routine at all or my routine was so long and extensive that I just never did it. In this episode, I talk about my morning routine and I share some advice on morning routine ideas. I also talk about my new beef with instagram and the videos that I'm constantly seeing that promote a glamorized, unrealistic, aesthetic morning routine. Im not opposed to aesthetics but I feel like the insta reels have the potential to emphasize a routine that isn't necessarily common or implemented by the majority of us.

In this episode, Leigh talks about handling a mental breakdown and the different ways you can react in order to do what's best for yourself. She talks about situations that make her more likely to shut down and also talks about the fact that shutting down is OKAY. It happens to the best of us and its normal for there to be someone who makes you mad or aggravates you. The most important thing is learning how to respond and learning about what you can and cannot handle, so that these situations happen less often.

UPDATE:
I deleted the podcast Pinterest account! I felt like I was constantly caught in the bad habit of mindless scrolling. Although the account was becoming successful, I would rather stick to instagram for the podcast promotion. Thank you for all the amazing comments on Pinterest and the support on the popular videos. I don't think you guys understand how exiting it was to have 40k likes (I felt famous, haha). Nevertheless, I felt like it was time to take a break from all the social media and just stick to instagram.

In this episode, Leigh shares her new realization that the universe is actually on our side. It seems like we are always (or at least most of the time) focusing on the negative things, the things we don't like, the situations we wished we could avoid. At this point in time, half way through the school year, stressed with midterms, Leigh believes it is time for a MENTAL SHIFT. In this episode, Leigh proposes the idea that there is an ultimate power out there that is actually on our side, and the things in our lives that seem bad, are only bad because we deem them so and we actually can relax and trust that everything will be okay.
Anyway, we are all in for a universe, affirmation, manifestation moment.

Why is there a negative connotation around the word failure? Why do mistakes make us feel like we are headed in the wrong direction? The answer is.. I don't know. Mistakes and failures are all things we have been trained to avoid. This mindset keeps us trapped in our comfort zones and prevents us from exploring and trying new things. I believe failure is an asset, mistakes are my new best friend and set backs aren't real. This episode is meant to eliminate the idea that we need to be perfect and to give our inner people pleaser a break.

Uh oh..... this episode is bringing up some uncomfortable memories. In this episode, Leigh shares all her vacation horror stories and some funny ones as well.
To bring this episode full circle, here are some lessons I've learned and some useful tips for your next vacation:
1. Set boundaries, if something makes you feel uncomfortable you are 1000% allowed to say no. ( spoiler alert: I made this mistake in the Bahamas )
2. WEAR SUNSCREEN. I burned so bad because I thought I wouldn't tan if I had sunscreen on. Staying pale is better than looking like a tomato. wear your sunscreen..trust me...please.
3. Always bring a portable charger and a book. Having your phone die on you is probably the worst feeling on a car trip.. ALSO if you don't have cellular data, make sure to go on Netflix and actually download the movies and episodes you want to watch. That way Netflix will work when you are in the car.
4. listen to the lifeguards when they say the current is bad and the waves are high and the riptide is strong. LISTEN.

School takes a toll on our mindsets and mental health.... In this episode Leigh talks about her struggles with staying "positive" and "negative" and addresses the fact that neither one is better than the other. It's important to have a little bit of both to stay mentally healthy. She also talks about her trouble with swearing throughout the years and how she feels it gives off a bad vibe, but in the end they are just words we use to express ourselves. School is rough (to say the least) and its important to make sure we
are checking in with ourselves and focusing on our mindset, mood and feelings.

In this episode Leigh gives you her tips on money management, and reminds you of the importance of saving and spending your money responsibly. She talks about getting a job and creating a savings account. She also talks about how you can find jobs that can help you prepare for your dream career!
Extra Advice:
If you haven't already gotten a job and you are looking to apply somewhere. You will need to get working papers from your school. All you need to do is go to the main office and ask for them, you will need to fill out some quick paperwork but then they will give you a slip that gives you permission as a student to work anywhere! Then, all you need to do is hand it in at your job interview. When I applied for my job bussing tables. I just walked in and asked for a job application form. All you do is fill it in and then wait for their response. ( YOU GOT THIS!!) (ps: its pretty easy and straight forward)
In terms of savings it's important to take money out of your paycheck into saving once a week. Even if you add only 20 bucks a week you are still getting into the habit of putting money away and TRUST ME your future self will thank you. If you are in high school or even middle school you can start saving for things like; a car, college expenses, gas money, you're first apartment etc. Also remember to never, never, never take money out of your saving to spend on something random..it will just get you in the habit of withdrawing money and you don't want to do that, save up for your future self and don't take money out!!!
Also remember that just because you have the cash to spend doesn't mean you should/need to spend it. It's a good idea to be money conscious and spend money on things you truly love and that mean something to you. Make sure to check prices and think about your purchases. ask yourself: Is this something I'm going to use? Is this overpriced? Is this a sustainable product? ( sorry this sounds like its straight from a text book or something..) BUT IM SERIOUS you don't wanna spend a lot of money on something that's not gonna last or something you won't really use.
Don't overthink it! Have fun with your money, you earned it!! go get that basic white girl flannel and pumpkin spiced latte (hehe)

Leigh's must haves/ mentioned in this video:
Target:
- Wide Ruled 1 Subject Flexible Plastic Cover Spiral Notebook $0.95 ( all time favorite and cheap notebook for journaling and taking notes)
- Sharpie 5pk Highlighters Gel Bullet Tip Multicolored $7.69 ( BEST HIGHLIGHTERS)
- Sharpie Clear View 3pk Highlighters Fine Chisel Tip $4.89 ( I also love these ones )
-Post-it 4pk Mini Square To-Do Notes 1.4"x1.4" Cool ( so fun to add to my notes and makes them cuter and also helps me remember extra things I need to get done)
- The little book of confidence ( you can find this by the card section in target, it is filled with quotes from famous artists, authors and motivational speakers. Reading this in the morning automatically motivates me)
Breakfast:
Something new I've recently discovered is overnight oats, its the perfect solution for when you need to wake up early in the morning and don't want to have to worry about making food. Just do equal parts of oats and milk, add fruit, yogurt, chia, vanilla and anything else you want. then put in the fridge over night then Viola you have breakfast in the morning. I have used this countless times throughout the past few weeks for when I had work early in the morning. you can use any recipe online or make it up yourself!
