One More Day is a veteran-run, 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating suicide from the military, veteran, and law enforcement communities. Listen to experts talking about treatments and other important topics.
What an incredible leader!
Admiral Linda Fagan, Commandant of the US Coast Guard, joined us today for an episode of Straight Talk Live. She has some great ideas for reducing stigma and suicide prevention.
She is serious about protecting the men and women of the Coast Guard and accepts no excuses when it comes to reducing losses.
I was truly in awe- thank you for joining the One More Day team Admiral Fagan!
“Just Talk” “Tell your story”
What an enlightening discussion.
This was one of our most critical Straight Talk events ever! Dr. David Rudd and Dr. Craig Bryan.
These experts will share current efforts and critical focus areas in reducing suicide across the Veteran, Active Military, and Law Enforcement communities. Among other discussion topics, we will focus on training venues, including peer-to-peer and formal suicide prevention programs, and reducing the stigmas associated with seeking mental health treatment. To raise awareness of this critically important issue, we would be most honored to have the participation of both Active Duty and Veteran senior leadership across our Services and Law Enforcement communities.
Thank you.
“Just Talk” “Tell your story”
Join us for for the SEAC (Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs) Ramon Colon-López.
How do you deal with the aftermath of combat? How do you switch from combat life and active duty to family life? SEAC Ramón "CZ" Colón-López - Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is partnering with One More Day to share his lived experience and personal battles with mental health. He is here to elicit change around the stigma of mental health along with the Department of Defense. The language military leaders use is changing as we continue to combat the mental health crisis and suicidal ideations. Colón-López mentions that the simple act of lending an ear, being available to hear what is bothering someone, is enough to start the change. He doesn't want to lose this fight against suicide. It's time you get the help you need so you can live a good and productive life.

This amazing man not only ascended to the rank of two-star General but is also a former president of the National Defense University; he is a qualified Airborne-Ranger-Engineer and Strategist, and a graduate of West Point, MIT (Doctorate and two Masters), and the Army and Naval War Colleges. In addition to these accolades, he was twice awarded the Distinguished Service Medal, a Bronze Star, and the Combat Action Badge.
General Martin has been afflicted with bipolar disorder since 2003, maybe earlier. Learn how his condition aided in his ascent to the top ranks of the US Army until it no longer did, and then nearly destroyed him and everything he values. Hear about how the lack of understanding and knowledge about mental illness - combined with stigma - prevented friends, coworkers, and family from stepping in before the condition became uncontrollable. After many years of bipolar-driven success and exhilaration, followed by two years of slogging through ‘bipolar hell’, he is now in the seventh year of his recovery journey. Managing and living with bipolar disorder is a ‘forever war.’
Join us as Dr, Miller talks about some of the exciting things that the VA is doing to combat suicide.
Listen as the Commander, Air Mobility Command, General Mike Minihan tells us the unique ways he and his command team are tackling mental health crises and suicidal ideations.
Warrior Heart, stigma reduction etc.
One More Day's Straight Talk team is so excited to be hosting a true American hero in less than 2 hours. Starting at 2:00 EST, we will be featuring FORSCOM Commanding General Michael Garrett. Come and learn how FORSCOM and the US Army are responding to mental health crises.
This is a message to the One More Day from beyond.
Just Talk, Tell Your Story, brothers, and sisters.
David Corlew, partner of Charlie Daniels Journey Home Project, records a message to our veterans, law enforcement community, and military members of hope and advice. One More Day firmly believes that the first step for our heroes to get their lives back after they return is to "Just Talk, Tell Your Story." This is a message from the great folks with Charlie Daniels of hope.
Listen to SFC, Crew Chief from the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment talking frankly about the the aftermath of 13 deployments. Post Traumatic Stress, as it does with so many warriors, took control of Jeremy’s life and stripped him of he was and who he wanted to be.
SFC Michael found himself at the very bottom of his life when he joined the One More Day PTSD webinar. During this webinar,, Jeremy learned about the STRIVE program and the Stellate Institute. Jeremy completed the STRIVE program and received the SGB (Stellate Ganglion Block) and listen to Jeremy’s story of meeting himself again.
Dr, Sean Mulvaney, MD and Dr. James Lynch, MD founders of the Stellate Institute.
What is Stellate Ganglion Block?
The stellate ganglion block (SGB) is a procedure in which an injection of a long-acting local anesthetic, using ultrasound guidance, is made in the side of the neck around the main nerve that controls the “fight or flight” response (the sympathetic nervous system). This nerve, (the cervical sympathetic chain) which is a two-way conduit, connects the parts of the brain that control the fight or flight response (referred to as the central autonomic network) to the rest of the body. By blocking or “turning off” the traffic in the cervical sympathetic chain, it is believed that the parts of the brain that control the fight or flight response are allowed to completely reset, resulting in long-term relief of the associated anxiety symptoms. Multiple peer-reviewed medical studies show that SGB results in significant long-term improvement in chronic anxiety symptoms associated with post-traumatic stress injury (PTSI). The SGB takes less than 15 minutes to perform, and benefits are seen in as little as 30 minutes.
(Although the term PTSD is more commonly used, Dr. Mulvaney and Dr. Lynch feel that the term post traumatic stress injury (PTSI) is medically more accurate. After all, an injury is something you can recover from.

As a national leader in suicide prevention and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) treatment, the Suicide and Trauma Reduction Initiative for Veterans (STRIVE) has moved its programs and research to the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center. Founded in Utah by program director Craig Bryan, PsyD, ABBP, STRIVE has plans to expand its programs to diverse and underserved populations across the country.
Among STRIVE’s successes is a two-week R&R intensive treatment program for veterans with PTSD. Since its start in 2013, the program has helped more than 75% of participating veterans resolve the effects of PTSD by the end of the two-week program. More than half of the participants maintain improvements when re-evaluated six months later. During the COVID-19 pandemic, participation takes place via telehealth.
Dr. Bryan thinks a key to the program’s success is that its concentrated format is uninterrupted by responsibilities and distractions of everyday life. Participants are more likely to stick with the program, as they meet virtually with clinicians every morning for cognitive processing therapy for PTSD. They have afternoons free to pursue their own activities and work on newly acquired skills.
“With this trauma-focused therapy, we go right to thought processes and emotions of a person’s trauma,” Dr. Bryan says.
The program is supported by a grant from the Boeing Company, so there is no fee for participants. Those interested are evaluated and, if accepted, start the program with little or no delay. Dr. Bryan hopes to accept 100 to 150 veterans into the program annually.
As a retired military veteran myself, I am honored to bring the STRIVE to the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center to provide innovative treatment that helps people rediscover and create a meaningful purpose for their lives. We feel privileged to work with those who have a heart for service themselves, and we invite you to learn more about STRIVE and how we can support you or someone close to you who might need assistance.

Jen Satterly was an award-winning filmmaker and photographer for 15 years, spending the last three years as Director of Film and Photography of an elite Special Operations training company fully embedded with Navy SEALS, Green Berets, and Army Rangers in large-scale realistic training missions.
During her time embedding with Special Operations warriors, Jen began to see a pattern with the soldiers, sailors, and airmen she worked alongside, some of the very same issues her husband, retired Command Sgt. Major Tom Satterly, was also facing with complex Post-Traumatic Stress. She began searching for answers to help them find a way to constructively deal with PTS and its symptoms which included isolation, anxiety, severe depression, anger issues and a long list of medical challenges. Jen made it her mission to not only help the service member but also the families who often suffer from secondary PTS and are innocent causalities of the longest war.
Passionate about helping warriors and their families heal, Jen stepped out from behind the camera and became a certified health and wellness coach to better understand the biology of PTS. Alongside her husband, Tom, they co-Founded All Secure Foundation and serve as co-CEOs. All Secure Foundation is 501(c)3 non-profit organization serving Special Operation warriors and their families reconnect and heal on the homefront from the trauma of war. Their organization has been recognized as a top rated non profit by Great Nonprofits and has grown to serve thousands of combat families.Additionally, Jen is the founder of Virago (vəˈräɡō/), a platform for educating and empowering women who are facing the challenges of PTS on the homefront. She also authored, Arsenal of Hope in 2020.
