Page Station is a podcast dedicated to science fiction stories and the true things I’ve discovered through them. Authors always made it look like a lot of fun, inventing all kinds of people and places all from a seed of some aspect of cold, hard reality. But I couldn’t help but wonder what it took for their stories based on science and technology to still have plenty of heart. You’ll find here amid my love of the genre my reflections and wonderings on the questions these stories raise about space and time, sentience, ethicality, exploration, and more. We’ll also take the occasional deep dive into stories from other genres, anything to keep chasing the wisdom under the words. Science fiction worth reading doesn’t have to be predictive or prescriptive. It doesn’t have to tell us what our futures will look like, nor does it need to tell us exactly how to get there. Can any author truly have that kind of foresight? More importantly, do they need to? There is still a lot to learn from stories that are more reflective of trials and enduring their fallout, not merely foreseeing them or making them all go away.

Fiction has many genres to choose from, but science fiction continues to rank high among my favorite things to read. It challenges my views, grounds lofty ideas in reality, and sheds light on the fallout of technological advancement not just in other star systems, but right here on Earth.
