Did you know that 70% of diagnoses in the NHS are thanks to biomedical scientists, not doctors?

Or that experts in coding languages like Python apply coding and programming techniques to genetic data so that doctors can actually diagnose their patients.

Our summer intern, Kiran, introduces our podcast series about Healthcare Sciences, a part of medicine which provides the scientific backbone of the NHS. In this series she speaks to Biomedical Scientists, Medical Physicists, Bioinformaticians, Audiologists and other Healthcare Scientists to show you what it's like working in Healthcare as a scientist, engineer or mathematician rather than as a doctor or nurse.

So if you're interested in working in Healthcare, but you're not sure you want to study medicine, this series is for you!

All five episodes will be released on 3rd September, so subscribe now to get it when it drops!

4th March is World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development, and we’re publishing two blogs written by some engineering undergrads about their experience studying engineering. But after speaking with our Youth Advisory Board (a group of teens who we work with once a term), we realised that Engineering is a bit of a generic term. So we’re releasing this one off episode at the same time as the blogs to give you some ideas about the different types of engineering out there.

Thank you to Dr Dimitris Statharas for speaking to us about studying and working in engineering.
