The Bardic Body Podcast: Recent Episodes

The body tells many stories when we learn how to listen and understand its language. As a therapist I've listened to thousands of stories and I've come to recognize common themes that are universally relevant. Unspoken these remain hidden. When shared, this universality can show us how connected we all are. We have wisdom within us that points to a truth that, rather than being a problem to solve, this body can teach us how to come home to ourselves.

Being caught between a rock and a hard place can lead us to thinking we have only two choices with either outcome being unsatisfactory. "Damned if I do and damned if I don't" is the old expression. In this episode I discuss the aspect of our being which creates this context. It is, in essence, reactive. While there is nothing wrong with this aspect, the problem comes when we try to employ this aspect to get us out of the problem that it helped create. My intention in this podcast is to point this out and then to redirect you to a capability within us to recognize a third choice. Enjoy!

In this episode I explore what's missing in online interactions and therefore what we need to supplement in order to have this medium be more of a tool for learning and collaboration and less of a tool for grand-standing, tribalism and tactical warfare. I use the metaphor of an human-made oyster reef to illustrate how we come to understand the value of something once it's gone. I weave these threads into a Will meditation that focuses on opening out one's perception to bridge new information pathways that connect us with others and remedy the dysphoric state we may find ourselves in in these times of isolation.

A mistake occurs in politics if we believe that either the Left or Right could exist without it's opposite any more than we could function effectively with only one lobe of the brain. When we pick a side and separate from the other we may feel sure that we are on the side of good because the other is evil. I explore the notion that evil lays on either side of good and that one must find the balance between the opposing forces rather than identifying with one or the other. #health#wellness#mindfullness#practices#meditation#selfimprovement#naturalmedicine#acupuncture#chinesemedicine#anthroposophy#rudolphsteiner#fourfoldbeing#fourelements#fiveelements#mindbody#mindbodyconnection#intention#powerofintention#powerofthemind#vipassana#spiritual#esoteric#etheric#astral#consciousness#consciousnesssoul#resilience#immunity#healing#ego#iam

Alot of us spend a lot of time and energy on trying to make ourselves better. But what if the part we're trying to improve is not even us? This episode explores how things might change if we went from trying to improve ourselves to reclaiming ourselves. This question may have impacts on how we view the current state of the world and what we can do about it. #health#wellness#mindfullness#practices#meditation#selfimprovement#naturalmedicine#acupuncture#chinesemedicine#anthroposophy#rudolphsteiner#fourfoldbeing#fourelements#fiveelements#mindbody#mindbodyconnection#intention#powerofintention#powerofthemind#vipassana#spiritual#esoteric#etheric#astral#consciousness#consciousnesssoul#resilience#immunity#healing#ego#iam

In this episode I speak with Storyteller, Simon Oats. We delve into the subjects of ritual, theatre and festival and their function in society, past and present. We explore the notion of a "Sacred Circle" that envelops such events, facilitating a shift out of mundane, day to day existence into realms otherwise unaccessible to us. Here's a link to Simon's telling (& singing) of Orpheus in the Underworld https://youtu.be/hv4Db4jJQjA
