There’s something cool about the way our stories unfold when we offer what we have openly to be used however God sees fit. Whether it's a gift or a calling, perhaps it’s a talent or a treasure. Dustin's angle on how to make an impact is incredibly unique and his approach to finding magic in everything that life throws our way is both simple and transformational.I’m so thrilled to have had the opportunity to connect with Dustin, hear more of his story and perspective on how he and his wife do life beyond the stage. The way they seek to love people, love God and show up for what he’s inviting them into is beautiful and I just believe you will also be encouraged today!Looking back on your own journey, you’ll be encouraged that God is entirely faithful and like Dustin, he will use even the unexpected ways ultimately for your good. When you know you’re called to more it can be challenging to be in the places between especially when you have that “life plan” mapped out. I’ve been talking a lot with friends and family recently about the tension of living with EXPECTANCY of God to move and having hope filled expectations, but not living with specific expectations of what the answers look like. There’s such a balance between the two and I’m curious if you have walked through that thought process in life before too? How do we live with great anticipation of hope and all God can do? A number of things but the first thing I believe is surrendering OUR Plan to His(God’s). On today’s show is a new friend who brings wisdom from a journey he THOUGHT he had mapped out and planned only to see it go differently. He has powerful examples of real world examples of how he himself is living for Jesus but also what he does to encourage himself in the process of the unknowns, the limiting beliefs that can often sabotage our futures, and some good words that perhaps YOU needto take home and remember today. Encouraging people there is no such thing as a coincidence but God’s evidence he is always at work, I’m excited for you to hear what John has to share today.John Laub is a faith-based motivational speaker known for delivering powerful and inspiring messages to his audiences. So, If I were honest with most of my life, there's a certain sort of comfortability I live in. But Im still human and occasionally have doubts that try to haunt me and questions and emotions daily still bubble up....

You don’t have to be totally freaked out though…. Remember who you are and whose you are and continue to tell yourself the truth:

You are valuable. You are worthy.

You have a calling, and you were made for more.

He has a plan and is gloriously at work behind the scenes.

TRUST HIM. He is good.

He is FOR you. He died for you that you might live!

Let him be your strength and guide.

He wants the best for you, he is FOR you and not against you and has a plan and a purpose!

His dreams for you are far beyond what you could ask hope or imagine....

He's given you permission to dream and wants you to thrive!

You are Brave!

You can get through this, and you are stronger than you think

When the uneasyness comes, or the voice in the mirror tells you you're not enough or reasons why you need to be fearful, tell that liar to get behind you.

Part of The Places Between is talking about thriving and learning to thrive while we’re waiting /or transitioning from one season of life to the next! As humans we know what it’s like to wait and for many of us something we really don’t like at all, if we were honest. Waiting is hard. Waiting in the midst of suffering is really hard. Almost unbearable. But there is something beautiful about drawing close to God, or letting him draw near to you in the midst of what seems like a never ending journey of waiting. In the midst of a season that is filled with trials and answers that we’re not sure will ever come, there is an intimacy we can experience with Jesus if we press in and let him draw near. This is Brittany’s story. Its a story of longsuffering and faith in the midst of waiting on a number of things… Her insights and wisdom and authentic voice into some of life’s most challenging moments will encourage your heart today. In the midst of suffering faith and HOPE is pivotal . . . I hope Brittany’s words are just what you need to hear today.Brittany Park has served as a pastor at Remembrance Community Church in the South Bay Area of Los Angeles County since 2012. She is also is an adjunct professor of Biblical Studies at Eternity Bible College. She and her husband Ben live in Lomita, CA with their daughter, Naia.--- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/theplacesbetween/support

Once we find out where our limiting beliefs are rooted and start to do the work to heal and really become healthy versions of ourselves a whole new level of living in freedom is possible. On Today’s show I talk with someone who’s not only done the work to find freedom through a journey of healing himself, but he’s helping men (& in turn women they love too) on their own journeys towards freedom.Hunting and running through the woods is a drastically different scene than selling drugs and rubbing shoulders with drug dealers in the inner city. This is the story of Adam French, a story of humble and healthy beginnings, a story of harsh and horrific interruption and a story wrapped in the life changing love of Christ. His Dad’s journey of successful business owner to violent alcoholic coincides with his mother’s struggle of a successful teacher to pill addict. Somewhere in the middle of their stories is a scared little boy, curious pre-teen, broken teenager and a wounded man. For the past 17yrs Adam has been on a journey of healing. What if you had healing over addiction, anxiety, trauma or anger in your life? Imagine living in peace without struggles plaguing your life.Adam draws from his counseling degree, bible college education, decades of personal recovery and pastoral experience to create an onramp in his book, MANdentity, for men seeking help in their marriages, addictions, traumas, broken relationships and everyday struggles.MANdentity is designed for any man with any struggle to find healing. It’s purposely written to be simple and direct, so that every man can heal by working through this book. All men have wounds. The MANdentity book intends to heal them.Today, Adam travels the country sharing the redemptive story of Grace that Jesus brought to his life through his personal journey to MANdentity. He is a motivational speaker who encourages others to live out their faith. You will be challenged, motivated and encouraged by his teaching.MORE about Adam: theadamfrench.comRECOVERY REFFUGE: www.recoveryrefuge.care/our-mission MANDentity the book on AMAZON here. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Enjoyed what you heard?! Wrestling with agonizing grief, and searching to unlock God‘s purposes in suffering is something Corey and his wife, Dana know all too well. As it was said in the forward of his book called Inheritance “when you’re the Lord’s inheritance, everything in life is bathed in divine purpose” If you’re a person of faith, there's no doubt in my mind God has used his word to strengthen your faith. In deeply painful seasons some of you know how much strength one can draw from scriptures when there just doesn’t seem to be words to understand what you’ve been through.Corey and his wife, along with 3 daughters, are still processing the trauma caused by the death of their son! BUT living out the promises of God they’re creating a legacy through Nash’s life too.One of the most beautiful things brought through the suffering this family has walked through is the willingness for Corey to share his story! It’s served to help people in dark nights limping through life’s trials and tribulations looking to God like they need air.Today Corey is using his gift of teaching God’s word, encouraging others in their faith journeys and more. In fact God is raising up an army of intercessors for such a time as this. These prayer warriors are called Nasharites: men and women, young and old, gripped with the spirit of prayer to see revival touch their families, their churches and their cities. I can’t wait for you to hear more of Corey’s story and just honored to share it with you today. https://coreyrussellonline.com/p/nasharites⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Enjoyed what you heard?! This week I wanted to share some clips and highlights of guests in Season 3! As guests shared their stories and testimonies of God’s work and sovereign hand in their lives, we got to hear countless stories of the miraculous, things that only God could have done in moments of desperation, waiting, trials and more. With EACH Guest and story we were encouraged that God is entirely faithful, and despite the wildness so many of us have walked through, we really can have hope that he sees us, he knows exactly what we need, he works ALL things together for good for those who love him and are called according to his purpose and he really does LOVE AND WANT The best for us.I continue to be reminded God FAITHFULLY WORKS behind the scenes, truth ALWAYS prevails, he IS the GOD of rescue and redemption AND despite the timing we think he needs to show up in, he is RIGHT ON TIME!!! And he will continue to work behind the scenes to show up and show off!If anything over the last year I too have been encouraged that God is entirely possible of the impossible and NO THING is too hard for him! From financial provision AND projects being funded to dreams of going overseas and becoming a missionary on purpose for Him! We heard stories of second chances, God walking through valleys with us, restoration and redemption from things in the past, stories of triumph and miraculous provision attached to opportunities to play for the NFL, or be on America’s Got Talent (and WIN) even take home the Grand Championship of American Ninja Warrior. I was in a conversation the other day about the future and how do you make objective and beneficial decisions when there is so much unknown in your current state of reality? Inevitably as humans I think we all long to have insight into our futures and/or why we do the things we do and how we can somewhat rearrange things into the spot of perfectly working out. But if you think about it, there’s no way that could happen for just you or just me because so many lives are impacted at the same time that whats perfect to us isnt perfect to another and we all react and respond as a result of what we ourselves have also been raised in, surrounded by and exposed to.Today on the show we have a really neat opportunity to hear a story of twists and turns but ultimately God’s sovereign hand at work as he wired Brandon’s life together using the goods, the bads, and even the unexpected moments together for where Brandon is TODAY!Brandon Bantz is a former Major League catcher and current owner Catchers Central which focuses on creating impactful relationships in the sport of baseball and softball through high level skill development training. Since finishing his almost 10-year professional career spanning across 3 organizations (Seattle Mariners, Washington Nationals, and Miami Marlins), he has trained numerous Major and Minor League Baseball players, US Olympic and Professional Softball players, and has helped hundreds of baseball and softball players achieve collegiate scholarships. He currently travels the country developing players, coaches, teams, leagues of all ages and skilllevels.A native of Mansfield, TX, Brandon received a collegiate scholarship to play at Dallas Baptist University in Dallas, TX. In 2014, He was inducted into the hall of fame at DBU as well as for the city of Mansfield ISD athletics programs. He is currently residing in Denver, CO with his beautiful wife Kelly and their two rescue greyhounds, Sunny and Grover.Hopefully there are some incredible insights for you on YOUR journey during today’s conversation with Brandon, and how to navigate all those twists and turns life throws at us too. Just a heads up; this could be a two part conversation but for sake of understanding how all of Brandon’s Journey has led him to the things he’s doing today and the wisdom he imparts to us all, using his experience we are still featuring it all in one convo! Oh how I love to hear people’s stories and what allows them to experience God that encourages their faith. You might be tuning in this week with more of a skeptical ear thinking “I haven’t experienced God to the fullness that others have talked about” and for that I just want to encourage you to keep showing up! Keep inviting Jesus in and keep asking him to strengthen your faith. I just know he’s gracious enough to meet you where you’re at.

And if you let him, like really let him in, it’ll be one epic journey! So today we have a really fun conversation to dive into with filmmaker and director, Brent Gugel.

We just so happen to talk about the amazing film, Free Burma Rangers, which is a documentary film exploring the extraordinary 20-year journey of missionaries Dave and Karen Eubank and their kids, as they venture into war zones where they are fighting to bring hope. The film itself is a testimony to people trying to walk after God, full of their own limitations, sins and mistakes, facing real enemies AND asking “CAN LOVE WIN?!”

We talk about the film as well as radical ways God moved during the process. Even some of the other “no way but God moments” of Brent’s career.

Brent Gudgel is a documentary film director and founder of the ministry Deidox. His credits include the documentary Free Burma Rangers which won Best Feature at the Justice Film Festival in NYC, was in theaters nationwide, and is now on Amazon Video.

Previous work has been on Showtime, Hulu, for the Olympics, and featured during the Super Bowl. With over 20 years of experience, Brent has also directed and consulted on 250+ short documentaries for organizations such as Toyota, LA Clippers, Union Rescue Mission, Crisis Pregnancy Centers, Saddleback, Willow Creek, Goodwill, and IJM, among others. He currently resides in Merced, CA with his wife and two growing children.

There comes a point when we embrace what God is doing in our lives, twists, turns and unknowns. And I believe we ALL desire for tangible evidence of God working IN our lives to at least show us he’s real, right?! And the point isn’t the miracles in and of themselves…. These are unexpected and always come in different ways for EVERY

ONE just because God is a personal God. But we want to keep in might that in pursuing him, we want to magnify HIM, NOT the signs.

I love the journey we’re all on! God is so unique and so intricately involved in our lives. I’m confident that when people experience the love of the father, they’ll want nothing less and no counterfeits either. I’m so excited to share more of Brent’s story with you today. I hope his experiences give you the courage to believe God for more, as well! So without further adieu, Why dont you pull up a chair, grab that cup of coffee and dive in with us to the places between.

Have you ever taken a huge risk or a daring move to cause the trajectory of your life to shift? You resigned from a job? You stepped away from a hobby (that was all encompassing). You decided to move forward and onward from a relationship that just didn’t seem to be the right fit?

Regardless where you’re at today I’ll bet one of those questions I just asked caused a memory to pop up.

TRANSITIONS ARE HARD Y’ALL - AM I RIGHT?

But you know what else is hard? Staying where you are!

Every time and everyday I stay in something I know is not beneficial for where I know God wants me to go or what I feel called to, I am choosing to delay what could be the next season or “the something new”, and it still feels hard. Then to add to the “hardness” for lack of a better word, sorry. When you feel like you’re “STUCK” because you’re not sure what to do or you don’t know what to do it can feel like eternity and be exhausting when you continue to repeat the same scenario over and over.

I think the hardest and scariest thing we can do when we’re in seasons of waiting, that we know we have an active part in, is to take that leap of faith and step out to see what God has for you, where he will guide and provide.

Just think about how much something can truly change when you are active within your story! GOD KNOWS your every need. He also knows you and your heart. The good news is he is a SAFE God who loves you and is committed to working ALL things together for Good for those who love him and are called according to his purpose.

Don’t let the enemy rob you of the intimacy you can have with Jesus in these transition and waiting seasons. Even if they seem forever when you’re going through them, take heart as the scripture says: “And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.” 1 Peter 5:10

I believe God wants to equip you, walk with you and eventually establish you where you need to be. For some of you it means telling that mountain you’re done and moving forward.

Do you ever get frustrated in the process towards what you really feel called to do? It’s like you WISH you had a roadmap to follow but it doesn’t always feel super clear. What if you’ve been spinning the wheel to get somewhere when God already has that somewhere prepared for you, it’s only a matter of time. Would you be ok to settle for his peace and presence in the meantime?

Part of life IS resting in the tension of transitions but partnering with God as we wait which is never actually “waiting doing nothing” It includes active participation. There’s a certain kind of mystery in following God along the journey of life and navigating the places between. As my guest this week say’s its God’s mystery that leads us to worship and wonder in a recent sermon, I can’t help but agree. Doing a life with Jesus at the center of everything allows us to experience life to the full in the good seasons, the challenging ones and even when we’re not sure what’s next. That’s the beauty of pressing in to a relationship with Jesus and doing life with others who are also on the same pursuit. Doug Wekenman is the Teaching Pastor at Red Rocks Church. He also leads the Red Rocks Location in Austin, Texas, where he currently lives with his wife, Samantha, and his two kids, Will and Kinsley. Doug is passionate about people, tacos, golf and building the church with his friends. Red Rocks Austin is all about imperfect people pursuing a perfect God. Today’s conversation with Doug is filled with stories of God’s faithfulness, wild ones you could only count as being directly from God and beautiful bits of wisdom on what to do with a calling or a dream and stewarding it well. When it’s truly from God it is worth it, no matter the challenges. Well I can’t wait for you to hear some of these fun stories and my conversation with Doug today, so if you’re ready for it, why don’t you pull up a chair, grab that cup of coffee, and dive in with us to The Places Between. Navigating Transitions of life is something we cannot avoid. We do have a choice in how we show up day in and day out though. In seasons marked with pain and strife it’s easy to give way to the thought of being a victim of our circumstances and yet through our relationship with Christ we can know that he works all things together for good, even the hard parts, the ugly parts, and the parts we just assume skip.

The crazy part of life if you’ve lived any amount of time though is that life will be riddled with challenges and opportunities that will make or break you. Not becoming a victim to your circumstances will be hard BUT entirely possible and beautiful when you see what God wants to do as he weaves your story together FOR THE GOOD.

Today’s conversation with Bryan was encouraging to me as someone who’s chosen to dive into what God has to offer in life but also someone who with open hands has seen what God can do upon returning to him. His “prodigal” experience isn’t one to wish away. It was one that brought him today and I’m grateful to share his story with you.

Bryan Sitinjak is one of the pastors at LIFEGATE Church in Denver, CO. He is happily married to his wife Erin, and they live in Denver with their 2-year-old Bernedoodle named Joey. Bryan was born in Indonesia, raised in the Denver Metro, went to school and began his career in Boston, and has been back in Denver investing in The Kingdom for a little over 8 years now.

He has had a diverse professional experience ranging from church planting, selling used cars, doing procurement in the oil & gas and large industrial sectors, as well as roles in finance and financial services. Now he is working to connect the disconnected in his little corner of The Kingdom at LIFEGATE.

Well guys, if you’re ready for it pull up a chair, make sure you have that iced coffee, and dive in with us to the places between.

Chad Dedmon - Catch the Wave. The joy of Intercession.

In the winter of 2016 Chad received a dream from the Lord, where He was paddle boarding and praying at Big Sur. It was in this dream, that the Lord audibly told him to come out of the cave and tell people that he is an intercessor. Chad and his team dropped everything to say yes to this call to paddle board the coast of CA and intercede. And it’s now expanding to the nations. Catch the Wave just so happens to be coming to Denver.

I love how they describe their community as a group of trail blazers who say yes to seeing dreams realized! (Remember my life verse? Eph 3:20 GIVES us permission to dream God size dreams!)

Chad and his wife Julia have been married over 15 years, have 2 beautiful children. Ordained through Iris Global, Heidi and Rolland Baker’s ministry and Bethel Church, Chad and Julie have enjoyed ministering together in over 35 nations since 2006. Catch the Wave focuses on equipping the church on encountering Jesus through worship, prayer, and evangelism. Their School of intercession drives in the value that “Everything centers on intimacy with Jesus!”

Today’s time with Chad is FULL of incredible stories, heart-wrenching challenges and incredible breakthrough moments. The time today I just believe is authored by Jesus so I pray you will embrace what could be a life-changing word for you today.

I’m beyond stoked to connect with Chad on this week’s podcast, so if you’re ready for it why don’t you pull up a chair, grab that cup of coffee and dive in with us to the places between…..

In a recent podcast I heard this brilliant quote: “Don’t be afraid of the desert! Just go surf it” after Ben Stuart talked about learning to ride the sand dunes and loving the adventures before him.

Lots of moments of our lives are spent navigating in and out of seasons. We cannot avoid the places between. If we looked at these seasons as places to wander aimlessly or suffered in, until it gets better, we could probably go in circles without ever finding a true way out. But if we looked at these times as seasons to get THROUGH, with Jesus

it’s entirely possible to embrace challenging moments of life AND experience the adventure life is supposed to be!

As someone who loves to embrace life and all that it has to offer with a full and open heart, I’ve been asking God not to delivery me from many of the challenges but to give a new perspective and speak a word of life so that I can truly learn to surf the waves of the season. Be it a desert OR an ocean. Be it dry seasons of faith with not much movement or life. OR the oceans where I’m overwhelmed and it feels like wave after wave just keeps coming.

Fear has no place around perfect love.

Pretty sure perfect love has a way of reaching every place we wander into. Teaching us to surf those moments, the ride is so incredibly worth it with Jesus!!

NOW, for the announcement: We just hit over 10,000 streams! CUE THE CONFETTI!!!!

BUT we need your help. With God’s help (and yours) we will keep going to 20, 50 & 100,000! If this podcast, or anyone’s story, has spoken to you in ANY WAY would you send us an email, comments through ThePlacesBetween.com contact, OR even DM me through instagram @The_places_between.

So much of today’s conversation points to evidence of the way God moves in, and through, our stories when we choose to walk into places and spaces he calls us to. Challenged with the thought going forward from today’s conversation as well; “How many times can we say we’re walking into situations in life where God has our full attention? And where we’re living in a place of feeling the peace and lightness that Jesus offers?” I’ve done this moments before, but I can additionally say I want to do this more actively going forward and think you might want to as well after you hear today’s conversation with Pedro. Perhaps our calling isn’t about WHAT we do but where we are, who we are to be and how we travel light in life?Pedro LaTorre serves as Founder & CEO of Brave Work, which empowers humans to discover, enjoy, and sustain their purpose. His live event speaking and creative approach to consulting has financially fueled organizations like Compassion International, charity: water, Find Rest, Ride Nature, and many others. If I asked you what your favorite childhood movie was, I bet you’d remember at least 2 or 3 films, right? What about a film you saw that forever impacted the way you viewed life?TODAY I have the honor and privilege of talking with someone who is making these types of films and series. I believe it will not only be fun to tune in and along, Nathan’s journey of his calling, but will inspire you within your OWN story to ask a few questions and perhaps see what God might be calling you to in this season or next.Nathan Blair has loved movies his whole life. As a child of the 80’s, he always fantasized ab0ut making movies but thought it too impossible. God disagreed. With 7 feature films and a soon to be mini-series (which we’ll talk about today) A Perfect Chord, 2nd Greatest, A High School Story, SCION, Sleeper Agent, Stealing the Show, Once Upon a Christmas, Fragment: Oblivion) Nathan has cultivated his calling to create high level crossover films with a Christ centered message. It has been said that Nathan and his cutting-edge production company, Kingdom Sight Studios are a “force to reckon with” in the faith-based industry. These films have traveled on both the Duck Commander and K-LOVE Radio cruises; they’ve been highlighted with the Dove Foundation, Best Buy, Walmart, iTunes, Pureflix and more.In February of 2020, Nathan became the Executive Director of Cross Wind Productions; a 501(c)3 ministry where the next generation of Christian filmmakers are inspired, encouraged and trained, all with a Christian worldview. Nathan has said “While Christian filmmakers are producing new content that speaks to adults, Hollywood works tirelessly to capture the hearts and minds of our children.” Cross Wind is a place where teens can make a movie for teens. A place where they can speak a language they want to hear.In Nathan’s opinion, “movies represent the most powerful medium for communicating a message. Jesus spoke in parables to convey points because He knew the power of story. And when you combine story with stunning visuals and soaring music, you have a method to reach people on a deeper level. Filmmakers have been utilizing the power of film for decades, I just want to share a story of hope and joy, whether that’s a horror movie or a western. Movies move people, I want my movies to move people towards Jesus.”And that’s just what we’re going to talk about, so I hope you’re excited and ready for this talk with Nathan so why dont you pull up that chair, grab a cup of coffee and dive in with us to the places betweenMore about Kingdom Sight Studios: www.kingdomsightstudios.com/ Find Nathan and connect with him on LinkedIn here: https://www.linkedin.com/in/nathan-blair-06454a11b/Or Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/nathan.blair.5454And Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/nathan.blair.director/--- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/theplacesbetween/support

Will Heckenbach - "Finding Complete Freedom" // I will forever be grateful for the moments I had nowhere to turn but felt the tangible presence of God in the redemption story of my life. And while there are stories upon story that I could share of God’s divine hand of protection in my life during some of my wildest and craziest choices, I won't today, and I will simply say I am eternally grateful Jesus had his hand on my life when I wasn’t choosing him first and the way he has worked both in and through my life up through today, it just continually amazes me how gracious and truly faithful and loving he is.Today is one of those stories that almost seem too hard to grasp and yet knowing the life-changing power of our God, there is not one ounce of me that would doubt his rescue is real and possible for each and every one of us, regardless how far we get from him.I'm both humbled and honored to dive into a story you just have to hear for yourself. From a young age, Will loved the mountains and everything outdoors. But an innocent decision spiraled into 10 years of drug and alcohol abuse along with a deep deep mess of depression and more. It was time in jail where a radical encounter with Jesus changed everything!!! He’s living, breathing, walking, talking, evidence of Jesus’ freedom and the hope Christ offers to all of us; and I'm excited to share more of Will’s story with you today. Currently he calls Tulsa, Oklahoma, home with his beautiful wife, son and baby girl on the way. He loves being able to pastor people, love people, and share the hope he found in Christ and says he can’t wait to see what God continues to do. . .(And I can’t either!!) I hope you have that coffee hot! Have you ever been called to something bigger than yourself knowing it would take a village to see that dream realized?

Do you remember where you were the first time you heard and learned about global poverty to a level that interrupted your thoughts enough to either move you physically to do something about it or emotionally to empathize to a degree that you knew you could no longer turn a blind eye. For me, I remember the time as a high school kid where I changed the channel when stumbling across a commercial to send $$ to children in resource limited countries across the world because I didn't have the capacity to save every child or give for that matter. When I learned the very personal impact I could have in one child’s life through sponsoring their needs monthly or raising awareness I was in! When I realized by coming alongside others with the same hopes that our impact could be multiplied through organizations like World Vision giving access to clean water, food and daily essentials, even education in hopes to bridge the gap so many children could rise out of poverty.

There are other incredible organizations doing this, but today I want to focus on a unique angle with Team World Vision and their commitment to run for clean water and fullness of life. I’m both excited and honored to share a conversation I had with Gabrielle Cauchon who is rallying her community, and perhaps you, to be part of the impact and help change some lives.

Gabrielle is a writer, musician, and artist who works in the intersection of community development through Education. She hopes to equip community vitality by targeting and cultivating healing and growth through strategic inter-industry partnerships. As a Child Ambassador with Team World Vision, she has the privilege of seeing these hopes come to life around the world.

Here is more of her story! So, why don’t you grab that cup of coffee, pull up a chair, and dive in with us to the places between.

It can leave us discouraged and even worse; stuck. And if you have ever been in a place where you long for something to change or to make sense of where you’re at, I want to encourage you that perhaps its an invitation from God to experience him and come a little deeper!

As someone who calls themselves a storyteller and creative personally, I was eager to dive into not only the life and journey of this week’s guest but the book he wrote and the stories he would share.

Bob Wheatley is an author, speaker, and podcast host. He helps people find the desires of their heart by discovering God through our favorite stories. He says his love for stories was fueled by his longing for God. "What if the stories we have always been drawn to (and perhaps thought were mere entertainment) have actually been invitations from God? They aren’t just stories, they are whispers from our Father, and He wants us to hope in His promises."

Well I’m so excited to share my conversation with Bob today as we dive into his book: Our Hearts Desire and “How our stories reveal the thing we want most”. So why don't you pull up a chair, grab that cup of coffee, and dive in with us to The Places Between.

In a world where so many have an opinion on who we should be and what to be like, whether we know them or not, it can be hard to filter through all the noise. When we’re in the Places Between it can also be challenging to know where we’re going, who we want to become, and/or WHY we wake up and how we can dream for more. Well I’m SO EXCITED to have Emily B Cummins on today’s show as she has some amazing advice and really neat stories to share that hopefully will encourage you in the journey towards what’s NEXT for you.You may know who you are and confident in the direction you’re going but its always helpful to be reminded how good God’s plans are for you, how there’s a plan and a purpose along the way and for many of you, since you haven’t arrived at that next season be it: Marriage with Kids or Getting that promotion or even having kids old enough you get excited about grandparenting - in LIFE we go through LOTS of seasons. Heck I can’t wait to see who my kids (that I don’t have yet) turn out to be. One thing I know for sure though is when we choose to show up and do the work we can play a part in our story and God is good to reveal steps of the way as we chase life with him as an integral part.Emily B. Cummins is the Founder of BecomingMe.TV, a global resource equipping people to become who they were made to be through a growing online community sharing people's Becoming Stories, conferences, courses, resources, and Emily’s first book, Becoming Me: Choosing To Be You. Emily also serves as the Communications Pastor at Church of Hope in Ocala, Florida. When she’s not writing or speaking, you can find her soaking up the sun at the beach, running, and savoring a cup of coffee while listening to country music. We talk about our “WHY’s”, we talk about the seemingly insignificant moments that have shaped our lives; and how important it is to surround yourself with people who love and believe in you that can speak words of life and truth over you. As this is a podcast all about THE PLACES BETWEEN and where we find ourselves I’m sure a number of you listening might be longing for what’s next in life. Be it a new career, relationship, financial situation, even YOU. Isn’t that what they say New Year New You? But instead of looking at the year ahead with a big sense of overwhelm and asking “what’s next?” I want to encourage you, you might be in the right place to actually step into some new things and new beginnings? What if this was the year you saw or made BIG changes? As it says in Proverbs a man plans his ways but the Lord determines his steps, so Ultimately even if we take steps towards change it really is up to God to go before us. But it also says “where vision lacks people perish” and I believe its good to have something in mind for the future with what and where God is taking you. If it requires a big risk though, when it comes to actually taking that action or speaking a word. They say 20 seconds of courage is all it takes to change your life and with my guest on today’s show she had a NUMBER of times and moments this would take place.I’m also reminded that we can work like it depends on us but pray like it depends on God and that’s why I’m SO excited to dive into Jen’s story today! She’s truthfully walking evidence and a beautiful example of what it looks like to commit to a plan and see some new beginnings and changes in her journey. So as Jen talks about her one year quest to LEVEL UP in health, faith, money and love, through her recently released BOOK: “Do These Sweatpants Make Me Look Single?” Why don’t you pull up a chair, grab that cup of coffee and dive in with us to the places between?GET YOUR COPY of “Do These Sweatpants Make Me Look Single?” here. Isn’t it funny how many times we plan our future or think we have it all figured out when something happens and interrupts the way we thought things would go?

I don’t know about you, but there have been SO MANY times in my life where my plans didn’t go as I thought they would have, but I’ve learned rather than throw in the towel or giving into a spirit of defeat if I would just readjust my exceptions and fully surrender the process to what God was doing, often times things would work out better than I had ever imagined.

Married to her best friend with a beautiful toddler, Tanisha has been in the Fitness industry as an Instructor and Wellness Coach for 6 years. She’s currently an instructor for RowHouse and loves any chance she has to be outdoors exploring. She’s a Colorado Native, passionate about being a light and pointing others to Jesus. This fun loving amazing instructor, with a great taste in music, is full of insight and wisdom for anyone in transition and has such a deep dependency on God, its just evident through the joy that she exudes and the conversations she has how much she loves God. (Something I know we ALL can benefit from a friend like this😊”.

Dive into our conversation today and be blessed! I hope its just what you need to be encouraged in your own journey as well.

If you have been a listener of The Places Between for any amount of time, as we near the year’s end and this season of giving I want to invite you to be a part of life-change and sharing testimonies of faith with others! An excerpt from my daily devotional reading recently talked about the “Key to Life”

“Madonna said, ‘When I was growing up... Jesus Christ was like a movie star, my favourite idol of all.’ Napoleon Bonaparte said, ‘I know men and I tell you that Jesus Christ is no mere man.’ Novelist H.G. Wells said, ‘I am an historian, I am not a believer. But this penniless preacher from Galilee is irresistibly the centre of history.’”

As the Founder of ALPHA Nicky Gumbel wrote “Even people who would not describe themselves as followers of the ‘penniless preacher’ recognise that there is something extraordinary about Jesus. No one, not even angels, can compare to Jesus (Hebrews 1:1–14). If you want to know what God is like, look at Jesus. He said, ‘Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father’ (John 14:9). Everything you read and understand about God through the Bible needs to be read through the lens of Jesus. He is the ultimate revelation of God.

Your key to getting your life sorted out is Jesus. Your key to understanding the Bible is Jesus.

Your key to understanding God’s character is Jesus.

Your key to life is Jesus”. (Excerpt taken from Bible in One Year 2022 with Nicky Gumbel on the Bible App)

I couldn’t help but be encouraged and moved to tears by this notion. EVERYTHING we need to understand about life and God is in Jesus.

But how do we get there if we don’t know Jesus or the life he lived? Perhaps it starts with picking up one of the gospels to read about the life and character to understand how good he really is. Perhaps its a surrendered heart to say “Even when I don’t get it, I will trust you”. Or perhaps its hanging up the questions and apathy towards what’s not happening in life, our disappointments, our questions, our what ifs and heartbreaks to let Jesus have full access as we invite him in to do what only he can do.

And now going a step further. . . if you’ve looked to Jesus to understand God and even have been on this faith journey a number of years but still wrestle with doubts and understanding what and how God is moving in your life, I’d like to encourage you that it’s possible to choose faith and trust even amidst the hardest of places. I wanted to share another devo from a 25day devotional on staying in your story. It poses a good question or two to consider, but I also believe through the process of worship and a surrendered heart we all can come to a place of being fully resolved to Trust God with writing our story, even more so than ourselves. . . Because he is ONLY Good, Im convinced whatever we go through will ultimately be worked out for our benefit and our good IF we allow it to.

Takeaways:

Take some time this week to reflect on those questions. Go sit with them. Talk to God. Ask him what he has for you.

Open your heart to him and see where he wants to take you. . . I’ll be praying with you, that it’s somewhere incredible as you dive in to time with him.

Thanks for joining me this week on the Places Between. Hope you have a great week.

It's hard to believe years and years ago through a bunch of grown-up kids with a passion for surfing, snowboarding, action sports and a desire to make a difference in the world that a handful of us would connect! Fast forward, lots of life has happened since then, but I am excited to say God is still working in our lives and what once felt like a dream has become reality!

On today’s show I'm excited to share more about a friend’s journey who can truly speak from experience. Transition and trusting the process has been part of his story.

Brad Farson loves Jesus. He grew up in Colorado, went to Western State Colorado University. He’s married and has two boys. Currently, he’s working as a Firefighter and Paramedic for Colorado Springs Fire and recently wrote a book to help people become firefighters.

Knowing how hard it is to commit to a dream, live to fulfill it and then teach others to do the same; I wanted to share Brad’s story with you. Hoping you’ll find some encouragement for your OWN journey today – You may not be where you want to be YET, but with the Lord’s help, tenacious commitment and perhaps a good resource, mentor or BOTH; you’ll step into that thing soon.

FIND BRAD’S BOOK “Get Hired by a Fire Department. From testing to preparing for academy” HERE on Etsy.

"I would recommend this book to anyone trying to join the fire family. It is great seeing a firefighter use his experience and struggles to help others. " - WMFPD Fire Chief Matt N

Have you ever gotten to a place in life where you’ve had a moment to reflect on your journey and the decisions you made, or didn’t make, to get you to where you are today?

Oftentimes, when having conversations with others who have been walking in faith for more than a few years, they can point back to pivotal moments where they saw God divinely orchestrate the details as they took steps forward. Even getting to pause to look back and see the ways things pieced together can be eye opening and hopefully life-giving when you see that truly every step of your journey got you to where you are now. And even the moments you wish you could unwrite, were pivotal in bringing you to this present moment in time.

In today’s conversation I get to dive into the seemingly unlikely ways God would move and have favor over a ministry, that started simply through a prayer and a desire to bring the loving and life saving message of Jesus to others through a life surrendered to what God could do. Today I have the honor and privilege of connecting with a gentleman I had the chance to work for years and years ago but also thrilled to share more about the ministry He is leading as President and CEO.

Kevin Palau is President and CEO of the Luis Palau Association. Kevin joined LPA in 1985 and began directing the day-to-day operation of the ministry in the late 1990s. Under his leadership, LPA has united tens of thousands of churches in hundreds of cities to love and serve their communities and clearly share the Good News of Jesus. During Kevin’s time at LPA he has also helped develop a global network of hundreds of partner evangelists and launched a City Gospel Movements effort that helps unite churches to serve their city and proclaim the Good News on an ongoing basis. Kevin helps lead TogetherPDX, a sustainable, united movement of churches in Portland, Oregon. His book, Unlikely: Setting Aside Our Differences to Live Out the Gospel describes the ongoing impact of the movement. He lives in Beaverton, Oregon with his wife, Michelle, and enjoys serving on the boards of Alpha USA, Christians Against Poverty, and Transforming the Bay with Christ.)

Looking back over the years of incredible moments that God has showed his unrelenting favor and has pieced so many things together; Im sure has been a sweet reminder of God’s intricate hand at work through the many years of ministry with Luis Palau Association.

As you listen today, I hope you’re not only inspired and encouraged by the incredible work and ministry of LPA, and stories Kevin has to share. But also get to spend some time today thinking through where YOU have seen God intricately work details together in your life to bring you to where you are today.

I can’t wait to dive into today’s guest as we talk about adventures of life, impacting others and the deep desire to make a difference. He’s had a TON of adventures and helped incredible organizations as well as people, and I’m not only honored but just thrilled to connect with my dear friend Nathan today on the show. He’s super passionate about getting people on fire for making a difference and realizing their potential. As he says “really the only opinion that matters is God's opinion, which can be both freeing and sobering.

Born in Germany to an American family. Grew up the son of a spy, by the time he was in Jr. High, he had friends from over 100 countries. As a child he already knew he wanted to be in business and as an adult he’s helped with business development projects with the NFL, MLB, Sprint and more. He loves creating and managing large projects. From Managing company footprints at events totaling 11.8 million attendees including the largest music tour in America, He's done international and domestic manufacturing for 10+ years.

Nathan currently runs a marketing company that generates leads for resort conglomerates, manufacturing for a nutraceutical company as well as has a small real estate development company. The joy of tackling new things and pushing the limits on what he feels is possible is what he loves, as well as helping others for the biggest impact.

Nathan is someone to me who exudes the essence of walking forward in life with open hands and a willingness to do and go where God has called him. It’s going to be a good one, so pull up a chair, grab that cup of coffee and dive in with us to the Places Between.

We all know how easy it is to get so distracted in life that we forget to be “intentional” in how we’re evolving. The work we’re doing internally to show up as our best selves, along with the hard work of digging into what makes us tick and why we do the things we do is so worth it though!

I’m so excited for today’s guest as she’s not only just a delight to know but comes from a really neat background in spiritual formation and soul care. More specifically within the Enneagram.

Stacey Cooper is a Certified Enneagram Coach, Spiritual Director, and Public Speaker who is passionate about helping others to SEE--whether it's the inner workings of their own personalities, how they're showing up in relationship with others, or where the Spirit of God is moving in their lives. She has worked with individuals, couples, churches, non-profits, and corporate teams--helping people to curiously and courageously reflect on their experiences right now, and notice the invitations to greater awareness, empathy, growth, and freedom.

Stacey received her Enneagram training through Chestnut Paes Enneagram Academy and her MA in Christian Formation and Soul Care from Denver Seminary. She currently leads and teaches within Denver Seminary's Certificate in Spiritual Direction.

I know the enneagram and other tests are merely tools towards understanding your inner wiring, and ultimately it IS the Holy Spirit who brings us insights into our lives and allows us to grow, evolve and change as people on a journey through life and through transitions, BUT I do think today’s conversation will be full of insights and wisdom and hopefully this next bit of time will bless you immensely.

Whether it’s in everyday friendships or colleagues that you interact with or a significant other, for some of you be it your spouse we all can agree the relationships we hold in life are important. Pretty sure even the last 24 hours of life I had to interact with a number of people from best friends to family and operating in a manner of health and wholeness is definitely a desire of mine. Hopefully it is for you too.  Today I invited a friend of mine on The Places Between to share a bit from his point of view as a therapist. SO those of you listening get an extra treat for free of the incredible wisdom and knowledge Alex has, and shares, with many of his paying clients.  Alex A. Avila, MA, LPC, CSAT-S, CPTT, CST, ACS, NCC, is the Founder and Director of Relationship Institute the Rockies in Denver, Colorado. As a licensed professional counselor, he meets with men, women and couples to help them overcome trauma, connect emotionally in their relationships, and rewrite their sexual scripts. He also facilitates couple’s workshops and couple therapy intensives, men’s recovery groups, and online relationship classes. He’s the author of “40 Forms of Intimacy” to give people practical ways to connect and experience greater intimacy beyond sex. And his NEWEST book is what I’m excited to dive into discussing today.  If I asked you the questions what does Emotional Safety mean to you, would you know how to describe it?  Do you ever have moments where you question why you do what you do when interacting with others?  Alex’s newest book, Emotional Safety: Honoring Yourself While Creating Trust and Presence to Experience Meaningful Relationships helps people (not just couples) of ALL ages understand why they do what they do when interacting with others and then ways to feel confident in holding a NEW roadmap to connect more deeply in relationships. I don’t know about you but I could always use more tips for better ways to experience more meaningful relationships especially as I want to be better in every area of my life and be the best version of myself especially FOR my future, but if you’re like me you know it all matters now with all those tiny habits, thoughts and even interactions!

Sometimes God does not give us an exact blueprint for our lives. Sometimes we can’t see his obvious direction but its like He gives us just enough to take the next step. When we get to a place where we can look back and see what God was doing all along, those are the beautiful moments that cause us to stop and praise God for his hand in and through our journey every step of the way.

Today’s guest has lived quite the adventure and can only attribute much of his life’s moments to the power and hand of God uniquely lining things up for Him to walk into. Noting times he stepped out in faith or persevered through difficulties and disappointments, Nate talks about things that prepared him for today and the continual pursuit of a relationship with God that helps him navigate life with JOY and endurance.

He’s a Well Rounded Warrior who operates as a pro athlete, adventurer, speaker, engineer and mission worker. Having traveled to over 35 countries, Nate’s lived in both Africa and Norway and his love for people, his family, and Jesus are why he lives to make a difference in the world. From providing safe drinking water to medical clinics, Nates heart for missions has taken him to Haiti, Uganda, India, Cuba, Nicaragua and The Dominican Republic. The world may know Nate Burkhalter by his 7 seasons of competing on American Ninja Warrior. He had the Run of the Year in 2019 and beat one of the toughest finals courses while battling through severe dehydration from food poisoning and several prior injuries.

Nate competed and WON Exatlón USA (the world's toughest reality tv athletic competition), in 2020, which lasted over 7 months in a remote part of the Dominican Republic and is now stepping into a new season as a pro athlete with open hands to what God wants to continue to do through his story.

He goes by the motto No Limits Nate, because he believes there is No Limit to what God can do through a life fully submitted to God!

I can’t wait for today’s conversation as we talk about navigating the places between and trusting in God every step of the way.

Do you remember where you were the first time the message of God’s love really came alive to you? Do you remember the last time you shared your faith? Perhaps it was in a recent conversation with a good friend just needing the encouragement to keep going.

Or maybe it was a colleague or a neighbor you know who you just feel drawn to be a light in their life and point them to Jesus.

While sharing our faith isn’t always at the forefront of our minds daily, I do know how incredibly impactful it can be. And I love hearing when other passionate followers of Jesus are empowering others and discipling followers of Jesus to do the same.

On today’s show I have a special guest doing just this with Youth With a Mission, otherwise known as YWAM. Their ministry is all about equipping a generation with a passion to know God and make Him known and they do this through a number of ways in small groups, one on one, locally and internationally.

Dan Shannon dives into just a BIT of what his journey with YWAM has been like over the last 20 years. Starting what feels like a lifetime ago in the early 2000s, Dan has traveled globally with YWAM and continues to serve on staff out of their KONA HAWAII Base. Dan and his lovely wife Meehan have been living their dream adventures of raising 3 kids in Hawaii and showing up to life daily with the excitement for “what God has for them and how can they include him into every faucet of who they are! Some of you may remember my dear friend Susannah who was on the podcast last year for a handful of episodes co-hosting with me. Well lots of life has happened since then but I’m so thrilled to talk with her today because we want to talk about not only things we’ve learned over the last year but then also how we rely on friends and our relationship with God to speak truth and using God’s word & prayers, when we’re going through it!

As we look back at our twenties and early thirties there were significant moments of growth but also through setbacks, its where we learned and hopefully have been able to dance into where we are today! Learning then that GOD is the one who knows and

writes every step of our future and that we have no idea what tomorrow looks like, so when we face adversity or unknowns NOW, we can remember that his character is still good; and while we cannot predict the future, God can. We can also walk forward knowing he’s in control and that he’s truly got us in his hand!

Our hope is not to limp into the future but walk confidently knowing the Creator of the universe also has a beautiful plan for what’s ahead and we can trust him.

Tune into my conversation today with Susannah, as we talk about the things we learned through last year’s struggle and how what we went through years ago actually equipped us for where we are today! Hopefully you’ll be encouraged and determined to walk forward confidently knowing who holds your future.

I love how God weaves things into our lives when we take time to slow down and pay attention to what he’s doing. Sometimes though when we think we’re working on a project going a certain direction, something beautiful comes out of it and we get to see something new come to life. For me that was the desire to create a community who wanted to chase adventure and life together while experiencing all kinds of rad moments, but before that could get going God had a different idea and brought to life this podcast first where I could share OTHER people’s stories and share what God has been doing in their lives too in hopes of encouraging you as a listener.

Today’s guest had a similar experience in a number of places as he talked about his dream and the unique things that happened in the process between the dream and the realization of that coming to life years later.

Ryan Wekenman is a self-proclaimed bible nerd who is passionate about finding creative ways to help people wrestle with life’s biggest questions. He’s been a Pastor for the last ten years as he slowly worked his way through seminary. Four years ago he moved to Austin, Texas to plant a church called Red Rocks Austin with a few of his best friends. Any other time he has is spent drinking coffee, paddle boarding, and watching the Broncos.

We talk about the simplicity of Life Jesus offers but also the intentionality of living present to what God has for us, and some fun God stories along the way, so why don't you pull up a chair, grab that cup of coffee and dive in with us to the places between.

You Have Stayed Long Enough — Deuteronomy 1:6

What is it in your life you're struggling to get through, give up, or release so you can step freely into tomorrow? When’s the last time you did something that was perhaps beyond your comfort zone? The idea of God using movement within our lives to see mountains move, it’s a lot easier to steer a moving object than a parked one isn’t it?!

Today, I want to recall an excerpt from a devotional about God delivering the Israelites from the mountain of their wilderness and believe this can be for you today too! My hope is you’ll walk away a bit “free-er” with a resolve to also confront those mountains in front of you, and just see what God can do; both in and through you, and maybe even around you, because I can confidently say it’ll be worth it!! Just think about the freedom you can experience…

Ask God for a new vision and wisdom as he makes your path clear! Ask him to heal the parts of you that need to be healed! I'm pretty sure He's just waiting to jump in because He’s a good God who longs to bless you! He longs to make good out of everything you’ve experienced (even the bad) if you’ll let him!

If you tune into the show and it spoke to you, would you do me a HUGE favor and share this with someone you know and love, or even write a review!!! Even consider sharing on Instagram and tag us @The_places_between. We’d love to keep spreading hope and life about learning to thrive in the places between and cannot thank you enough for allowing us to speak into your life too!

How on earth did a family living in suburban Highlands Ranch decide it was time to move to Denver and lead a church to emerge in the heart of downtown Denver? We get into this and more on today’s episode of the Places Between with Judah Trabulsi.

Not only do we talk about the great need and opportunity Judah and his family were called to, in Denver, but we dive into a myriad of other things God might be wrestling with in your own journey of faith and things he’s called you too.

I HAVE to give you a heads up; Judah’s story is incredible. And much of what he is called to do is on the frontlines. That also means its not always smooth sailing, so there are some bumpy roads in our conversation today. (Tech wise) I’m hoping if you can hang in there for it, you too will be impacted on a deeper level and perhaps question what YOU are called to for greater purpose and God’s glory.

Judah and Candace, and their two boys are truly living their lives on purpose! It’s incredible to hear how they love their community and bring the tangible care of Jesus to Lincoln Park.

Feel called to support Judah and his family as they continue to lead church for their community in Lincoln Park? Visit Lincoln Park Church Emerge at LpChurchEmerge.com and learn more about their ministry and community.

WATER is such a critical part of life! Wild enough how many times do we run our faucets expecting clean water to come out, or even not pay attention to how long our showers are!?! The craziest part of which just because water looks clean doesn’t mean it is!!

That’s why today, we want to talk to a good friend of mine all about clean water and more! As humans we thirst for water and it’s essential to survive…. But looking at life I’m also reminded how the “water for life is referenced in the scriptures as “living water” and what Jesus came to bring us all.

So while it may not be directly involving transitions of life, it does involve how we sustain our life and the keys to truly living with a commitment to not just sharing the hope and love of JESUS with others but also how we might use OUR passions to also bring life and access to LIFE eternally in every place we find ourselves.

WANT TO MAKE AN IMPACT TODAY?

Water for All works around the globe to serve those in desperate need of clean water. The need for clean water in UKRAINE is desperate! Water For All has already put multiple teams on the ground in Ukraine and Poland to deploy Vivoblu filters along with a custom 10L water backpack. They have established direct channels to deploy tens of thousands more filter kits to those in need all across Ukraine. God uses every part of our story, the good, the bad, even the stuff we assume forget. But we’re wired the way we are because of something specific, and the way God created us is not by accident! When we choose to show up to life, even dive in to confront some of the things that intimidate us or perhaps make us afraid, we can walk in more freedom than we realize. I’m super excited for today’s guest who dives in to talk about all this.

Justin Maina is an American Ninja Warrior Athlete as well as Licensed Massage Therapist who happens to also be a TV Host, Actor, Fitness Model and founder of Love Fearless. Living a life focusing on God’s kingdom and what our role is to play in it isn’t always easy. But when you know what you’re passionate about and the things that give you life it certainly helps.

Having led conversations through film and media, it’s in the storytelling where Joel Parker found himself returning over the years as a filmmaker. What started as a love for snowboarding and making films around snowboard culture himself as Nations Foundation, evolved and transitioned to something more broad and telling stories OF the nations with Nations Media which specializes in stories of hope from around the globe diving into places of pain and persecution, much of which is not even covered by mainstream media.

We talk about the journey, we talk about purpose as a believer, we talk about the challenges of western Christianity and our own limitations as believers in a comfortable society, and we even talk about recovery and the new ventures Joel has been called to and I’m hoping today will be a bit of a treat for you as you tune in.

I’m both honored and excited to dive in here today with my friend Joel. He’s a husband, he’s a dad. He’s a leader, pastor and teacher. He loves flying, surfing, and snowboarding and is truly an all around awesome guy showing up for people in broken places and doing his best to be a light in a world that desperately needs God’s hope. Today, I have the honor of introducing a friend doing incredible things in the world of music as an artist and worship leader. Some of you may know him from a popular network TV show (NBC) and I’m overjoyed we finally got to have a conversation today to share his story with you. Our conversation dove into the faithfulness of God in our stories today and the encouragement to live your life fully trusting God no matter what comes. He’s worked it all out for your good, so as you take steps forward to live in the places between, opportunities to trust God along the way will present themselves.

Dive into our conversation today as we get to know Biff Gore a little more! A husband and the proud father of 7 kids. He is a powerful, soul singing Blues and R&B songwriter and His rich vocals landed him a spot on season 6 of NBC's The Voice, singing “A Change Is Gonna Come” by Sam Cooke with Team Usher. His grueling blues sound moved him on to the top 8 with Team Blake. And while that was a bit ago Biff can still be found playing gigs and writing new material. His timeless vocal styles are not to be missed! In fact, he just released a new single called “Made to Worship” and you can find it on Apple Music and Spotify.

We talk about so many aspects of life from faith and calling, to waiting, and even learning to thrive in the spaces and places between of life! (You know the waiting, the “not quite there yet” places, the hallways, even the hard parts of life.)

When it feels like you don’t know who you are, what your life will look like in six months, or what you have to offer (depending what you’re waiting for) Faith in the process matters when you know you’re called to more - Regardless of the “knowing part”

On season 2 of The Places between I’m so excited to dive into more conversations around life and purpose and faith in the places between. From confronting fear to leading from a burden, even letting your passions guide you to what you’re called into, IM so excited to present these conversations as everyday life lessons from heroes of faith. Some with large platforms. Some like you and me doing their best to show up for Jesus everyday of their life within what they’re called to.

Rather than waiting on LIFE to happen to you, why not embrace all that life has to offer and make the most of it?!!!

Find significance and learn to trust God despite the unknowns, the waiting and “not quite there yet” places.

Be encouraged along your journey through testimonials of God’s faithfulness knowing his promises are available for you, too!

Take it a step deeper and come away with us!! If you want to dive into community with us and the Places Between then consider a RETREAT! Learn more at ThePlacesBetween.com.

Lastly, I HOPE that if anything, these stories and testimonies of Gods faithfulness in the lives of my guests and even friends, would be a source of encouragement and a reminder that if we let him into our deepest moments, he’ll walk with us in the darkest ones too. Don’t throw in the towel yet…. Because I just KNOW God is moving and he longs to show up and show off in your story too! Im already praying it will be a season of stories and life’s lessons that you will NOT forget. IF you haven’t heard by now, I just released a YouVersion daily devotional plan that’s available for you to jump into that really walks through The Places Between regardless what phase of life or age you are. Its called STAY IN THE STORY and you can dive in at any time for FREE by clicking HERE today. // As we dive in to our next guest I’m excited to get to share yet another week of miraculous God-Ordained working behind the scenes to gloriously show up and show off stories. Watching this story unfold was wild in real time and I look back to remember the creativity and faithfulness of God in this story; so I can’t wait to share it with you today.

She wanted to be a missionary & move to Africa. She always wanted to adopt. He was staying put in the US but didn’t want to adopt and it would ONLY BE A GOD THING to have him divinely orchestrate the story of Heidi and Chris… I can’t wait for you to tune in.

Along the journey of our friendship, I loved how I’ve learned from Heidi. She taught me about inviting God into the process of “it doesn’t have to always look pretty and we get to invite him into the ugly parts of our story, but we can trust that he’s a good father and he has immeasurably more than all we could ask or imagine planned - And Part of Heidi’s story exemplifies this so well. . .

I'm so honored to have gotten to see some miraculous moments in Heidi’s story come to life and we’ve got a treat for you to listen to today. She’s wise beyond her years. Her words oftentimes came at just the perfect time my soul needed encouragement and I’m so thrilled to get to share some of her wisdom with you today. I pray her story is just evidence of His goodness and faithfulness that is available for you today too. This is where you can say: “I want that Too, Lord.”

Heidi Falletta has been in full time ministry for 19 years. She has worked in missions, the local church and in social work settings. Her heart is to see people know God and not get distracted by the false images that many believers project. She wants to see God impact the lives of those with whom she interacts for His glory and their benefit, and in my observation of her life, she certainly has impacted many.

Hope you enjoy today’s convo with my dear friend, Heidi.

Today we want to talk about SHIFTING YOUR IDENTITY and WHY THIS MATTERS in reaching your goals. Especially in the extremely painful and hard times of life our identity will become the foundation of how we get through things & the habits we’ve worked so hard to establish will become WHO we are too.

True behavior change is identity change. You might start a habit because of motivation, but the only reason you will stick with one is that it becomes part of your identity.

Where do you get your identity? That we believe is in the Lord.

Dive in today as Heather talks about keys to establishing her identity through daily affirmations. Wendy will talk about overpowering those thoughts with truth and worship!

HOMEWORK

  1. Take another look into the things you allow yourself to believe, the things you say to yourself, and the things you know are holding you back from achieving what you want or believing WHO you really are, AND THEN write them down.
  2. Secondly, write down some of the thoughts of who you are becoming and keep choosing those truths by repeating them over yourself this week.
  3. Listen to WORSHIP. As Wendy suggested in the show: a new one by SWITCH called Perfection: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-2cGoWB3UY is here. Or Maverick City Music: The One you Love is also so good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZjxY0iL2xc

As we continue to SHIFT our identities we are establishing life-long habits and know it's all part of the journey!! THANKS FOR JOINING US THIS WEEK!

If you’ve ever wondered how our mindsets matter as they relate to your health and wellness, then this series could be for you.

Mindset Mondays Week #5 - Motivation VS Commitment Much like a dream, without a plan of action to make that dream happen without a vision or plan to get there, it's only a wish. IF it's a goal there are certain steps to take to get there.

I might be motivated to be the best version of myself. But if I'm not doing anything about this to become my best self, my motivation will quickly die out.

We want to challenge you to start making identity based goals vs. outcome based goals. (for example: “The goal is not to read a book, the goal is to become a reader” or “The goal is not to run a race, the goal is to become a runner!”)

Dive in with us to week 5 as we talk about motivation and the commitment to habits which starts SMALL and is way easier than you think. . . we give you practical ideas and ways to start seeing those goals become a reality, not just a lofty dream.

HOMEWORK: 1. WRITE DOWN what are you MOTIVATED to do? It could be a ‘dream’ but it could be a goal too. 2. WHAT have you already in your life chosen to commit to and how has that impacted you? Positively/negatively? 3. We want to encourage you based off your “goals” What are some small habits you can start to adopt into your life that will eventually become who you are? (Examples: Drink 2 full glasses of water first thing in the am? (16 ounces x 2) or Do 10 squats while brushing your teeth?)

We want you to decide WHAT SMALL HABIT you’re going to try to do and comment below with yours!

  1. Can you read 1 passage of the book of PSALMS a day? See how it impacts you for the better?

I think one of the hardest parts of surrendering is when we don’t see a clear cut answer coming or the thing we’ve been praying for, hoping for, or working towards around the corner. It’s especially hard when we’re caught in the middle of our stories with no idea what’s coming next.

There IS something about CHOOSING to believe even in the surrender, though. For me, my faith is so important. I know a lot of truths. It's just getting them to stick in my heart where it’s tricky.

God still remains on his throne. He is STILL Good and He does promise to work all things together for good, for those who love Him and are called according to His purposes which is an incredible promise.

Funny enough, because it's counterintuitive; as we let go of our hopes, dreams, plans, and even control, we release our need to know every detail before we have the answer and choose to rely on and bank on God’s promise: that He WILL take care of us. That He will fight for us. That He will work on our behalf for our good and his glory. That ultimately our futures are in his hands.

As I’ve had to surrender a number of times, sometimes daily, I continue to lay things before Him asking HIM to pick up the pieces and to work divinely on my behalf and somehow I end up with a peace that surpasses my human understanding and it far outweighs my need to control! BUT the tricky part is not picking it up again.

For HOMEWORK: Keep doing your 12minutes a day of praying and I AM statements OR Take even one 30minute session to connect with the Lord. So we hope you’ll dive into week #4 on choosing surrender. We want to remind you peace IS available and God is just a conversation away, so will you talk with Him this week?

We’ll dive into a new subject each week and give you practical takeaways to improve and retrain your thinking so you can positively show up and embrace all life has to offer.

Session 3 is about Self-Sabotage Vs. Self-Love. Our goal this week is to hopefully help you get a better understanding of yourself so that you can heal/rewire your brain to live your happiest and most fulfilled life. That you can love yourself the way God loves you.

HOMEWORK:

Have you identified the “I AM” Statements, or the truths you’re going to use against those lies every time they surface? Also, getting in that 12 minutes a day of quiet time, to show up for yourself, not only communicates you’re worth it but will help require that brain when you’re spending focused time in prayer. If you haven’t identified those “I AM” statements, you can do so here: https://finds.life.church/words/

Lastly go back and listen to weeks #1 and 2, if you haven’t done so already.

Welcome to Mindset Mondays. A 6-week series featuring Wendy of The Places Between and Heather Lee from Warrior Fit Academy. Join us on MONDAYS, as we talk all about our mindsets. If you’ve ever wondered how our mindsets matter as they relate to your health and wellness, then this series could be for you. We’ll dive into a new subject each week and give you practical takeaways to improve and retrain your thinking so you can positively show up and embrace all life has to offer.

Week 2 is about Limiting Beliefs // The stories we tell ourselves and the limiting beliefs we believe have the ability to make or break our sense of peace, our well being, and seeing positive results.  Limiting beliefs are formulated because of lies we’ve allowed ourselves to believe but they show up in the stories we tell ourselves. Creating new stories is KEY! BUT HOW?? Let’s talk about creating a new story and what it would look like?  According to Dr. Caroline Leaf, “It has been found that 12 minutes of daily focused prayer over an 8 week period can change the brain to such an extent that it can be measured on a brain scan.”  Your ability to hold attention on one thing for a period of time physically affects matter! That’s how prayer works. It’s more than simply offering up a few words and hoping for their fulfillment. Our thoughts and words are affecting reality whether we are intentionally trying to or not. Even though toxic thought causes brain damage, prayer can reverse that damage and cause the brain and body to thrive.

Scientifically - It takes 21 days of focused thinking about one thought to form that neural pathway. It takes 63 days of thinking about that thought every day to permanently wire that belief or thought in and to get it to become what naturally drives us without having to think. So in just 12 minutes a day of focusing on prayer and the TRUTH of who you are, aka believing what the Lord says about YOU is true, It’s possible to rewire your brain! ALL because of Quiet time

WEEK 2 HOMEWORK: We want to challenge you to do a Daily 12min Quiet time so that we can start rewiring our brains.  Here’s some suggestions for your quiet time: Ask God what he believes about you. (If it's negative or condemning, it won’t be from God) ALL his thoughts towards us are gentle, loving, and kind. Look back at Mindset Mondays Week #1. Where did your truth statements come in about who you ARE and combating the lie? Lastly, we want to challenge you to come up with an “I Statement _______” and work that into your quiet time.

Today feels like a treat! I got to dive in with a former colleague of mine, Ken Allen, who is the Executive Director for Denver Area Youth For Christ. Serving almost three decades within the world of events and ministry, Ken is the real deal! He’s a dad of three, a loyal husband and loves the Vikings (although we wont fault him for that;) He’s also passionate about reaching young people and doing incredible things to pursue the next generation of youth.

While we dive into Ken’s story and a handful of reflections of pivotal moments in our lives on today’s episode, we also talk about the way God connects with each one of us, how he is a God who comes to us and pursues our hearts right when and where we need it.

Youth for Christ works to uncover God’s story of hope. I love how they say “ When we welcome God into a pivotal moment, we invite Him to uncover His story of Hope in our lives, and to give life to our story. He, Jesus, is the life in all of our stories” and Ken does such a great job of really sharing how that’s possible to see within our own lives.

I hope you’ll dive into our conversation today and be encouraged along the way!

On today’s show I’m excited to introduce you to Danny & Rayna Oertli, an incredible couple I’ve had the honor to know for quite some time.

Danny Oertli is an accomplished singer, songwriter, and author, encouraging audiences with stories of God’s faithfulness. If you were to know one thing about Danny, it’s that he loves the journey. Playing more than 1,000 different venues around the world from stadiums & arenas to churches, even a few barns. In February of 2002 tragedy struck as Danny’s wife, Cyndi, died of a heart attack at the age of 30 after a long battle with cancer.

An uncertain future faced Danny but it was during this time that God proved his faithfulness and mercy once again as He continued to encourage Danny's family in ways they couldn’t have imagined.

Two years later, the journey took yet another turn. Danny was performing in Washington D.C. when he met Rayna, his soon to be wife, and today I’m thrilled to get to share more of their love story with you!

Rayna and Danny have been married for 18 years. Rayna, also an incredibly gifted musician shares the love music and the two talk about their life together in ministry, the journey they've been on, and even share wisdom through what only life could teach you in the valleys as well, as the beauty of the mountaintops and how God continually writes our stories.

Whether you're single or married, today's conversation is for you. Lean in to glean from the wisdom Danny and Rayna share today. It’s a conversation full of love and lots of laughter - I can't wait to dive in.

Sometimes I have had to remind myself God’s faithfulness in people’s Stories so that I could remember he is the same God. AND IF he did it for them, he can do it for me. . . Which may sound a bit self-serving but honestly, thinking back to a time in your life you were desperate to see a breakthrough and then something happened to encourage you it was only a matter of time - I’ll bet MANY of you listening have had people’s stories within your own lives that have encouraged you along the way. Whether it was a story of a friendship, a job offer, in buying a home or waiting on a diagnosis. I truly believe stories are passed down and along the way to us as gifts and evidence of God’s faithfulness.  Partner that with a fun meeting that quickly turns into a friendship - the world may call it a coincidence, but we all know it’s God’s way of showing you he’s in the story.  Today is for those who may feel stuck.  Today is for those who are doing their best to wait on God’s timing, but just need some encouragement along the journey. Im excited to dive into Stephanie’s story with you today and just thrilled she was kind enough to share it with us.  Stephanie Waldrop Williams lives in Nashville, TN, and is wife to Russ and mom to Jolene, their 10-month old Sheepadoodle. She is Senior Director of Business Support at Compassion International where she has worked for 15 years. Because of God’s great love shown to her, the greatest joy she has in life is to love and care for those around her. Praise God for the way he works… I hope her story will encourage you wherever you’re at, as it did me.  Learn more about Compassion International at www.compassion.com or If you would like to reach Stephanie, leave a review OR send us a note and we’ll be sure to pass it along here at www.theplacesbetween.com/contact  _______ Want to join us on The Places Between RETREATS?  I've always been passionate about people fully living; that means filling experiences with adventure…. purpose … & community (not just numbers!) As we were talking earlier about the Places Between I think one of the incredible things we each can say is when we can point back to pivotal moments of life where God really did something through the influence of everyday leaders living their lives daily for Jesus and just how much that means to us! Today we dive into this and more. We talk about the period between a vision for something and the fruition of it and what we can do in the process of waiting, As well as how awesome it is to see something come full circle. Especially when God gives that 30,000 foot view into a moment where we can thank HIM for everything he’s done. Today, I want you to meet Tim Brown.  As you listen into Tims’ story today I’d encourage you to be thinking about that too. What is it in YOUR life that God gave you a vision for? How have you seen God in your story? Has he ever brought you to a place of seeing how faithful He’s been through it? Tim Brown is a communicator, a young adult leader, and business professional living in Denver, CO. Tim’s mission is to present the truths of the Christian faith to the next generation of young leaders. He is the Director of Operations at The Brook, a young adult’s movement focused on leading young professionals to a greater life in Jesus. Tim also works as a degreed engineer for an oil and gas company. He is passionate about raising up a generation of faith leaders who work full-time jobs while making disciples. Dive in and be encouraged in your own season of life as you chase God and look for evidence of God in your own story, in the process.  Lasty, are you looking for community? If you’re in your 20/30s, living in the Denver area, and looking for a great community to be a part of, The Brook could be for you! Do you ever feel like you’re not quite where you want to be by now? Do you ever think your life doesn’t look like what you expected it to? After living most of my life not truly knowing what would come next, I started to think about some of the most amazing points of my life and above having arrived at certain point of my career or feeling super secure in a relationship I’ve realized that the times of life where I have thrived the most were the places I felt the closest to God and where I was fully living IN my purpose, which essentially would allow me to COME ALIVE! I started asking questions about those places between and the places I didn’t know how to process. When I’d get stuck, despite the unknown, I learned that pressing into God was part of that process of learning and part of learning to THRIVE the places between IS IN HOW we handle transition despite the unknown. We can all relate to feeling “between places” so when we feel like we’re just not quite where we want to be, lets discover life-changing keys to trusting God, despite the unknown, while we pursue purpose and learn to embrace the places between.

Today’s guest has some great insights and tips for you today about finding contentment and leaning in when you find yourself with disrupted plans, broken dreams, unknowns and in-betweens. JORDAN DOOLEY - She’s an ambitious go-getter with big dreams and a need to achieve. By her early 20s, Jordan was newly married, had already built a 7-figure business, had a top podcast, published a national bestselling book and managed to be featured on Success Magazine’s 30 under 30 list. Multiple, messy and painful experiences finally forced her to slow down and revisit WHY she started in the first place. Spending over a year creating a simpler more sustainable way to work and live, her perspective shifted on what matters most as she set out on a journey to a healthier, more intentional way of living. She now is on a mission to help other ambitious multi-passionate women do the same. Jordan actually says: “Disrupted, delayed, or even seemingly destroyed dreams have a way of making us rethink everything. But perhaps rethinking dreams is not always the worst thing.” and I couldn’t agree more. We talk about taking time to slow down and actually learning to live life while we wait. Dive in and get some key takeaways about gaining clarity about your future, contentment in your present, and learn to embrace your almost in today’s conversation!

Seeing God’s faithfulness in our lives is not always easy when there are BIG things we’re waiting for breakthroughs on! AND if we were honest its hard to keep the faith when you don’t see those breakthroughs after what feels like forever in a waiting season, BUT, and I do say but for a reason… in choosing to believe God CAN show himself faithful in our stories, it’s one way we can stand up to the enemy and allow our hearts to respond to God, then often times we get to see how God DOES show himself faithful in our everyday. As we bank on the promises of God, when we start focusing on the little things and even look for him in every area of life, I bet you’d be surprised where you actually DO see God working. Conversations like today’s with my dear friend Amber are ones I can’t wait to share with you as a listener. Originally from Colorado, Amber is a momma bear to 3 boys- 2 on earth, and 1 in heaven. Amber recently fulfilled a long long dream of living by the ocean, and moved to Florida where she is surrounded by sunshine and palm trees. A self-professed "gym-rat" Amber is passionate about fitness, and nutrition, and aspires to one day compete in body-building. Eternally changed by the death of her second son, in 2009 - Amber has relied on Jesus and gym to find healing from life's adversity, and is a firm believer that faith is not only an anchor, but a choice. Learn more about Walk with Me, the ministry Amber mentioned in todays show on Instagram at: WalkWithMedotorg OR www.walkwithme-nonprofit.org As you listen today my encouragement to you is to tune in, take in Amber’s story, but then allow yourself to reflect and see where YOU have seen the faithfulness of God within your own story. It’s probably a lot different, but there’s a good chance there’s things you can relate on, too. ____ Are you looking for community? As we dive into today’s show I’m excited to introduce Heather Lee to you. I loved my conversation with Heather today because of the life change she’s seen possible and the way she’s been able to help others using her story to bring healing, perspective and freedom to others in the world of fitness, using fitness as a platform, she’s walking testimony that “freedom”, “fit”, and “healthy” is possible!

Heather has been helping people transform their lives since 2010 through one-on-one personal training, small group training, and larger group training. Prior to launching her online business, she owned a small group personal training business for 5 years in Denver. She was a coach and regional manager for OrangeTheory Fitness and has helped some other amazing gyms along the way.

When asked what inspired her to become a coach Heather shared that it took overcoming struggles, determination, and dedication of work to get where she is today. Her journey of overcoming obstacles is what led her to have the drive to help others become the best version of themselves.

She says: “There is no doubt I have been called to help people find the light within themselves so they can LIVE happier and more fulfilled lives! Within her program Warrior Fit Academy, she helps you make exercise and a balanced diet a working part of your life to GET RESULTS. But because there are no quick fixes! (They don’t exist) she helps strengthen your MINDSET! This is accomplished through DAILY accountability, motivation, and commitment. Community is encouraged by bringing in like minded people together to share and support struggles and success.

“You will be transformed in such a way that you will never want to go back to the old way of living. These new practices will become a lifestyle. You will become FREE! You will be PROUD of accomplishing your goals!. You will be more fulfilled in every area of their life such as partnership, parenting, work life, etc. as a result of making these awesome changes. Ultimately will become or get back to the WARRIOR that you were always meant to be. Cheers to being a WARRIOR!!!” - Heather Lee.

I love how God brings people into your life who, at the time, you have no idea what it will become, but today is a fun conversation with a sweet friend of mine I had the honor of meeting about 10 years ago. She was in some of the same circles of nonprofit and ministry worlds and we were looking to see if there was anything we could do to help further amplify her mission as a radio station (where I worked at the time). Well, her thirst for life and adventure and more importantly, the adventure of chasing Jesus with God sized dreams for her ministry, I knew she would be someone I’d love to grow in friendship with over the years. Fast forward 10 years, Kelsey is doing incredible things STILL and while we talk about all sorts of things, I want to encourage YOU what she says so beautifully about learning the delicate dance of trusting God for your daily bread, but also dreaming with him for more.

Kelsey Hargadine is a co-founder of an international nonprofit, speaker, instructor, wife and mother living in small town Colorado. She dreams big and expects big from God!

She works full time for her nonprofit called ROWAN, which stands for Rural Orphans Widows AIDs Network in Uganda. She is not only passionate about empowering orphans and widows in Uganda, but inspires all of us to say “yes” to the Africa inside each one of us as we put our faith to action. She is currently working on a book that will do just that: Equip, mentor and inspire the next generation of leaders to zealously go after the things God has invited them into.

To learn more about Kelsey and her ministry, visit www.loverowan.org and follow IG @love.rowan __________________ If you’ve done life for any longer than 20 years you probably know waiting in life can be hard. As a person of faith you may also know staying committed to the long game of faith without compromising is a very real challenge, especially when life and things you’ve longed for seem to be taking longer than expected. It’s so easy to settle. It’s so easy to get discouraged when we’re waiting for that breakthrough, that moment, that upgrade, even that thing you long to see God move in but still haven’t yet!

I’m here to tell you it is possible to wait well! In fact, I believe in a GOD who’s bigger than all of your questions, who’s mightier than the “no’s & not yet's” and even one who really can work in your story despite them. I believe in a God who is so faithful to take care of your every need and even in the WAIT we can discover how good He really is.

There’s a verse in Lamentations that says: “The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.” (Lam 3:25) This encourages us to pour out our hearts to Him and keep seeking His face!

He’s SO FAITHFUL FRIEND! He knows exactly where you are and what you’re longing to see answers to! Are you willing to stick it out and hang on another few weeks?

If you haven’t already, jump in with us to STAY IN THE STORY! We started together as a group on February 1st but its not to late for you to join if you want to be a part! Today I have the honor of introducing you to a sweet friend of mine doing HUGE things to bring so many people freedom and we talk about it on today’s show. As you dive in to learn more of Allison’s story, see where you find yourself in your own journey to pursue the passions God’s placed on your heart. There may be a thing or two that jumps out as you tune in today.

Allison Meier Madrigal was born and raised in the cornfields of Nebraska by a loving family that had deep roots in the Lutheran church. She never had to walk through life without knowing who Jesus was, but she would eventually learn there was so much more to her faith, then just attending church. She graduated from the University of Nebraska in 2002 with a degree in Marketing and received her MBA from the University of Houston in 2009. After moving to Houston in 2002 she spent over ten years in corporate America before answering a clarion call to resign and follow God’s plan for her life. Embarking on this new journey, she was led to create and launch a first-of-its-kind In Vitro Fertilization insurance product that financially reimburses those for whom IVF does not result in live birth. However, there was more, she was to take fifty percent of profits to fund organizations fighting the evil darkness of sex trafficking. Little did she know, she would become the Founder and President of a national anti-trafficking organization, Rescue America. Rescue America through their 24/7 rescue hotline, has responded to over 2,000 hotline calls and rescued over 600 victims of sex trafficking. She credits her work to her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, who has directed and empowered her every step of the way. More about RESCUE AMERICA: www.RescueAmerica.ngo / 24/7 Hotline: 713-322-8000 Allison Madrigal - When God Writes Your Story I AM STATEMENTS - *Also read Ephesians 1 & 2. ● I am a child of God. “I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! Wait for the Lord; be strong, & let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!” Psalms 27:13-14

I want you to start the year off with great expectations for so many hopes and dreams to come to life!

Its my deepest desire that as you show up and choose to believe God for WHO he is, that his promises are real and true and available, that you will truly thrive! IT won’t be a year void of problems, as they do come, but it would be a year that you experience His fullness of promises fulfilled!

What are you hoping for the year ahead? My encouragement to you is to take time to reflect on the last 12 months. As my pastor said this last weekend, maybe take time to confront the difficult seasons of your year? BUT don’t get stuck there. . . Once you look at some of the difficult things, Write out the great things! Having a thankful heart postures us for what’s ahead! If you choose to write down some BIG Dreams and little dreams for next year take time once you’re done to PRAISE GOD for his faithfulness.

Thank God for answers he set into motion even before you even asked. Then lets choose to HOPE beyond ALL expectations that this CAN and this might just be your BEST YEAR YET! The YEAR you get to see God’s hand in so many places of your life! The year you learn to thrive in those places and spaces between.

I’m hoping with you friend for it being the year you see GOD show up in immeasurable ways!

May your rescue be found in knowing your every step is known and He has a plan so good you would not believe it if you were told. May you see His true redemption from everything the locusts stole, and experience His complete restoration of all you've been stripped of! May you be encouraged that you have a faithful Father who works behind the scenes to work all things together for good for those who love him and are called according to his purpose! He cares about every detail and if He can part waters, cause manna to fall from heaven, set a blaze to a bush, heal the blind with one touch, rescue the rejected with one word, and conquer death, hell and the grave to RISE again; He CAN show his hand in your story.  Trusting God for what’s to come!

Thanks again for joining me and all of my incredible guests on the places between this year as we sought to encourage YOU in your daily walk with Jesus and in the places between . . We WISH YOU A HAPPY NEW YEAR and we look forward to what’s to come in 2022!! _____

I have the honor of introducing you to an amazing, charismatic, JOY FILLED, Jesus lover and sweet friend to many today. There’s a good chance you may have heard her on a radio dial near you, which is why I was so thrilled to switch seats with this amazing girl for this week’s episode of the Places Between.

Born and raised in Fort Collins, Colorado. Her love of all things pink and girly stems from being the only girl out of 4 kids. While she planned on hosting her own TV show plans quickly changed when she got bit by the radio bug. Today you can currently find her on the afternoon show of Air1 Radio/Worship Now where she has been a DJ for 4 years. The first 7.5 of her 11.5 years with EMF she was one of the K-LOVE Radio DJs *which is where we first met back in 2010! EMF is Educational Media Foundation and they actually own K-LOVE & Air1 Radio and globally reach millions of listeners every week!

On weekends you can find Lauren hanging out with her husband, watching crime shows #GuiltyPleasure, eating flaming hot Cheetos, orrrr attempting to cook without setting off the smoke detector. She was an ABSOLUTE delight to talk with today, so dive in with us to the Places between!

She asked me to close my eyes and see if I could picture Jesus to which I thought was a little odd, but for the sake of going with the flow and because I was desperate to seek his guidance in my life at the time I followed her instructions. I closed my eyes. She let probably about a minute pass and asked what I saw. Keeping my eyes closed I told her I didn’t know if what I was seeing was right and she assured me there wasn’t any pressure or expectation to see a certain thing or image. So I pressed in a little deeper and asked Jesus where he was. Then two very strong impressions came to me… (TUNE IN FOR THE FULL STORY THIS WEEK AND A FUN EXERCISE TO TRY)

Esther Marie is passionate about helping people create a life of adventure while discovering their full potential. She is an author, founder of Fearless Co., an entrepreneur + surfer. You can catch Esther riding waves near her home in California or playing with her nieces + nephews. As Founder of Fearless Co., Esther talks about how they create resources for people to help them overcome fear! They have a couple of e-courses, devotionals that help people navigate different areas of life through adventures and more! In addition to Fearless Co, two books have been released to help equip individuals in life. Fearless Girl and Unhindered by Fear (2nd Edition) is broken into daily doses, or snapshots, through parables of facing our fears and how we can get past the lies we’ve been believing, how we outgrow them, and then how we conquer them. They even created an e-course all about facing your fears and achieving your dreams. As the conversation continues we dive into talking about the book that will be released this fall: SINGLE SHOULDN’T SUCK. As Esther says so wonderfully in an excerpt from her YouVersion reading plan: “Singleness is not a throw-away season. It's an epic-once-in-a-lifetime-live-your-best-freaking-life adventure. It's an incubator for self-discovery, self-love, and intentional community. It's aloneness with God and focused attention on building authentic faith.” And I couldn’t agree more! We also had a chance to talk about Esther’s experience with Missions Me, a powerful organization that produces exciting and impactful team missions experiences. They’re doing incredible things including recently wrapped 1DayLA featuring Justin Bieber, Chance the Rapper and more. And as we wrapped the conversation, we talked about the Faithfulness of God! If this is something you’re struggling to believe for you’ve GOT to listen to the very end. Esther articulates so beautifully the faithfulness of God and the journey He has us on, including just how truly good He is!  Learn more about Esther, the journey she’s on and get her book coming out soon on Instagram at @Estess OR her website at EstherMarie.org. Last but not least, access her YouVersion devotional called Single Shouldn’t Suck until her book is released later this fall!

Thrilled to have Eppic on The Places Between this week. Most of the world would know Eppic as a Rapper. He started his career in 2010 by posting various original songs and collaborations with other artists for his original songs and hasn’t looked back. Currently based in Nashville, Tennessee, Eppic spent many years in Colorado as well as Los Angeles, California. From subjects of fame and culture to the more difficult topics of depression, human trafficking, abuse and more; much of Eppic’s music has a unique way of drawing the listener in and challenging them to shift their mindset, see things from a new lens or event take action in being part of the difference. Today’s guest is passionate about Jesus, Nature Photography, Sports, Adventure and Community and it was an absolute thrill to host Krystal on The Places Between. Krystal is one of those friends who cheers people on from the get go. She is the friend to call when you need someone to believe for you, but she’s also the one who will remind you of God’s promises and the adventure he has for us ahead even if we aren’t looking for it. She’s just that awesome. Spending years in Denver working in sports ministry alongside Red Rocks Church and Activ8 Sports, she made the BIG move to Greenbay, Wisconsin where she started her own chapter of Activ8 and is working to build community right where she started in life (as a babe.) Well it’s no surprise she loves the Packers but dive it to learn more about following God through the adventures of the unknown, the transitions in life, and even setbacks regardless what they look like.

Her adventures can be found on instagram at Krystalkay Adventures where she has cultivated quite the beautiful collection of natures most epic visuals. Activ8 Greenbay is a community of purpose driven adult athletes and launching soon, so keep an eye/ear open if you’re in the Greenbay area!

If you’re looking for a way to plug into further community with The Places Between, consider dropping us an email or DM! Let us know how you enjoy the show and/or if you have any suggested “topics” of transition to cover. Lastly we would LOVE if you’d subscribe and share when episodes speak to you! It was a conversation that changed his life that set him on the trajectory for where he finds himself today. On today’s show we rewind to hear a bit about Josh Duinker’s childhood, collegiate and International Professional Career as a Basketball player.

Today we get to hear from an incredible woman and dear friend of mine who I’ve had the great privilege of seeing transition in life over the years. She’s managed to thrive in transition as she’s embraced life and all that it has to offer through some pretty major events: from College into adulthood, Denver to Charlotte, even getting to see her step into her calling has been absolutely beautiful and I cannot wait for you to meet and hear a bit more of Esther’s story today.

We chat a bit about life, the season she just stepped into and the celebration there, but also navigating the other seasons of life where she perhaps didn’t know where God was taking her. Dive in as Esther shares some incredible wisdom with listeners that might be in there own transition and get to know a bit more of Esthers story as Pastor, as friend, as a daughter of the King of Kings. It’s sure to be a treat for your ears today.

So without further adieu. . . Pull up a chair, grab a cup of coffee and dive in with us to "The Places between". You can find Esther and follow her journey, along with Elevation Church on Instagram.

I’ve had moments where I’ve listened back to some of the incredible conversations of the last two months and I can’t help but want to share them again with you. The Places Between really is a community that exists to help people learn to THRIVE in transitions. You know the places between.

We all can relate to transitioning in life. Sometimes it’s for new work. Sometimes its within relationships or even WHERE we actually physically find ourselves… But when we don’t believe the promises of God are real for us and relevant to where we are today, it can become SUPER hard to keep going and stay in our stories. Last week I talked about limiting beliefs. I think that’s the first step to “THRIVING in TRANSITIONS”. Just because certain things or expectations of ours aren’t happening, doesn’t mean God doesn’t love you. . . A lot of times he really desires to be in relationship with us. And like my friend Nirup said earlier this season if God were to show us what he was calling us into or where he was taking us, perhaps we’d be so freaked out that we wouldn’t do it, or wouldn’t believe that’s where God wanted to take us. SO for today, I simply wanted to leave some reminders for you from friends along the journey who’ve also gotten to dance through life with Jesus at the center. Figuring out the next steps in life can be hard - AT ANY AGE - But rest assured We serve a loving Father who wants us to get to where we’re supposed to get even MORE than we want to get there. . . So as you dive into more practical advice on identifying your calling and where you’re going NEXT, take time to enjoy the journey…. Here’s some highlights from the first season.

Nirup Alphonse - "Just be Honest" // He’s a pastor, one of the best communicators I know, a dad of 3 with a 4th on the way, and Founding Pastor of LIFEGATE Church in Denver, Colorado! it’s was an absolute honor to host my friend Nirup Alphonse, for a conversation around new beginnings, transitions, embracing and following the call God put on his life; and all the stories between! Including some miraculous moments for LIFEGATE Church, insights into Prayer as a foundation and some incredibly practical advice from the wisdom of Mr Alphonse (Nirup’s dad) about chasing your calling & what’s the one thing you were made to do!?! If there’s anything I can say about my conversation with Nirup, it’s evident that God’s faithfulness and hand is over LIFEGATE Church. I was super encouraged by our conversation and really believe that God’s got incredible plans ahead for you and I as we journey through life and the places between. Find LIFEGATE CHURCH here! Or Visit LIFEGATE on Instagram, here.  Find Nirup on Instagram, here!

QUESTIONS for REFLECTION: As you might be in a season of transition or figuring out what it is you were made to do, try these steps:    1) Write down everything you want to do.    2) Write down a vision statement for your life.    3) Then, after you get the vision statement for your life, look back over the things you wrote down you want to do and ask yourself; "What’s the   one thing you can do that’ll let you do everything you want to do?!?!"  Is there a specific thing (not job) but thing you gravitate towards that you   feel like you were MADE to do?      4) Take some time to pray into it today and thank God for the way he made you. He really is a good good father and longs to be included in the       story of your life. He is so faithful, will you let him show you how faithful He is?    5) What about Nirup's story stood out most to you? Think about it and pray into the things that impacted you the most!

John DeYoung - Living For a Greater Purpose //

Today we get to hear from a good friend and colleague of mine. With his wealth of experience in film and marketing, he also has a passion for using business as missions and is literally saving lives and impacting thousands of lives globally.  His work in India is breaking the cycle of poverty in the slums of Kolkata, as well as bringing clean water access around the world with his company, Vivoblu.  I personally know John through our many events fighting trafficking through SHIFT, an Anti-Trafficking organization that aims at empowering to prevent trafficking through awareness and conferences and our creative work together to bring stories to life through film. His heart for the poor and marginalized is evident in daily conversations and his desire for everyone to encounter an authentic relationship with God has had me undone at points of our friendship. Lastly, being just a few years into marriage, to an awesome friend of mine too, Krista; John & Krista just recently welcomed a new addition into their family and we’re excited for the journey they’re on together as a new family.

You can find John and follow his many adventures changing the world at Vivobluwater, Momentum Global or SHIFTfreedomnow on Instagram.

Questions for takeaway: 1. Are you an entrepreneur or one at heart?  What have you always wanted to do and what if you thought of your glass ceiling as being self-imposed?  Could it be your only limit is you?   2. How have you seen God recklessly pursue you within your own rebellion?  What does it look like to fully trust God with everything and walk in what he has for you?  3. Do you have a heart for other countries or people groups?  What has God taught you along the way about having fun while not taking yourself too seriously?  _______ Did you enjoy this podcast? Chad Bruegman - Effortless Intimacy Along The Journey // Today I have the privilege and honor of introducing you to a friend and Pastor of mine, Chad Bruegman. In our time together you will hear him talk about the incredible relationship he has with his parents, his awesome family he describes as “organized chaos with a lot of grace” (including some of the parenting lessons he’s learned along the way), his career as a pastor of over 20 years and what many of you may know him from in the 14.5 years of being at Red Rocks Church to preach the Gospel and help people in their faith journeys. As Chad describes it, it was “14.5 of the best years of my life”. It was especially neat to hear him brag on his beautiful wife, Rachel, saying “she let me go on an adventure that I felt deeply in my heart I was supposed to go on” and how the 2nd half of life he hopes to do the same for her. As Chad talks about the perks of growing older, he gets excited to share about his marriage and what it looks like to partner together, do life together, honor each other and how much mercy and grace are available 17 years into marriage versus day one. Chad also drops some incredible insights and wisdom to life as he talks about walking in a disposition of cheer (aka Joy) amongst difficulty, mystery and unanswered questions. He even shares a bit about his key to “staying in the story” and his own journey. Well it wouldn’t be a conversation of learning to thrive in transition if there wasn’t some laughter and lessons talked about from this journey we call life, so dive in and enjoy this conversation with Chad on the “The Places Between”. FIND CHAD on Instagram here. TOPICS COVERED: Identity Parenting Marriage Tips on Marriage Ministry Staying committed to Ministry for the Long Haul 2nd half of life Living JOY filled Laughter helps Some takeaways for reflection:

What part of Chad’s story caused you to think a little deeper about your own journey? How so?

Where are you at in life and your relationship with God? Would you say You can walk in a disposition of good cheer despite difficulties, mystery and unanswered questions?

Are you in the 2nd half of life or pursuing a new adventure you feel brand new to? Your best option is to come back your first love, where your faith felt effortless and ask God to meet you there. He promises to every time.

Waiting well doesn’t have to be hard.  Getting to do this in a community of people that encourages people to dive into life with one another as we“wait”. Like, rate or review this podcast with Chad! Brandon Heidemann / Fighting for a Bigger Purpose! Today I’m so excited to introduce you to my good friend Brandon, the Founder of ROYAL. Hear some of the wild “God stories” Brandon’s gotten to experience and also heart-wrenching tragedies of Brandon’s life but the redemption of them all as you get to know Brandon more! I hope you will walk away with a renewed sense of excitement for your OWN story and the story God is writing in your life today so grab a coffee OR a redbull and dive in with us to "The Places between". Some takeaways for reflection:

One of the quotes that stood out to us was the overriding affirmation of TRUST Brandon had in God and the peace that God offered with every decision to trust God in the losses and the unknowns of life. “If you trust me I promise I’m going to take care of this pain” -- Can you say that you trust God like this? If not, what is holding you back from fully trusting a loving God to take care of you?

Imagine that God is all that you need.  How can you enjoy life to the full knowing He is the provider, the peacekeeper, the sovereign God who will take care of you?

What dreams have you held onto for years? Are you holding onto them loosely enough that God can shape the outcome?  Or do you struggle with letting the results go?

What does it look like to trust your dreams into God’s hands, knowing he is sovereign and has far more than you could ask or imagine planned for you?

God does not cause the pain or the tragedies in our lives, but he does care about us in the middle of these moments!  This is an overriding theme of Brandon’s story.  How have you seen God comfort you in the midst of some of your hardest moments?  If you are in the middle of a place where you need to know God’s love, ask him for his comfort today. We hope you can encounter the love of the Father that we know and experience daily.

TAKEAWAY QUESTIONS -

Good or bad, what is the narrative you grew up with versus what you have now about who you are?

Have you had any lifelong goals or dreams since an early age that you’ve gotten to check off? If not, why? If yes, what did you learn from them?

Are there any lies in your own life you’re struggling with because you are believing them? Why not make today a day you start to identify the lies and then remind yourself of the freedom JESUS has brought so that you can tell yourself the TRUTH about who you are?

How can you be the best version of yourself today? Look at all areas of your life - Relationships? Health? Fitness? Financially? Career? On a scale of 1-10 how satisfied are you with these areas and what would it look like if you asked God to help you in the journey of that place, today?

Do you ever think long term? Do you find yourself thinking about who or how you want to impact others? What could be one thing you set your eyes on today, that helps you live today with a little more purpose?

What would YOU say is the key to staying in the story of your life?

EXPLORE WHAT IT’S LIKE TO TRANSITION WELL ON A PODCAST ALL ABOUT TRANSITIONS I fully believe the Places Between, aka “the journey of transitions” throughout life don’t have to paralyze us from embracing or being prepared for what’s next! And if Im right, most of us really want to be better versions of ourselves. This community I find myself surrounded by WANTS to love people and God with every ounce. We also want to enjoy the process of the journey and not get so focused on “the destinations” of life that we don’t fully show up for what God may have for us today. When we embrace a life of transitions, knowing we have yet to “arrive”,  we can enjoy the journey and take a friend along too. We can experience more peace and hope. We can navigate transitions with confidence.

I want to invite you into a safe space of conversation where we could explore questions of life, transition, embracing all that life has to offer even in those spaces and the places that we haven’t arrived yet!  Every week we will dive into new conversations with friends of different journeys, different careers, life and cultural experiences.  Some well known friends, some not so well known.  Experts in specific areas like health and fitness or action sports or fighting trafficking while others have managed to transition well before us, and we want to glean from their wisdom.  I WANT to learn from them.  I want to learn how to navigate and do life to the best of my ability in my Faith, my relationships, my fitness and health, and my journey.   My guess is, you do too!  So, while we can all agree we haven’t fully "arrived" yet, we definitely want to give it our ALL because we've only got one life to live.  So here we go!   Let’s decide to: EMBRACE one another as we learn how to navigate this thing called life! Let’s EMBRACE a life of FAITH & TRUST! Let’s EMBRACE where ADVENTURES & TRAVELS can take us! Let’s EMBRACE our journey of full HEALTH! & Let’s EMBRACE the PLACES BETWEEN! ____ For more information and resources, including upcoming retreats, opportunities for community and more, you can find us at ThePlacesBetween.com or on Instagram here.  Anywhere you can download podcasts you can find us on iTunes, Spotify and more @ThePlacesBetween *Make sure to like and subscribe.
