Key Takeaway: Slow down enough to make sure it’s done right; listen to the audience and the data.

Bio of Joseph Lackie:

I have a Master's in Mechanical Engineering from the State University of NY at Buffalo, with a Bachelors degree in Aerospace Engineering. I also have extensive director boardroom and coursework training, as well as work with website design and computer programming in languages such as FORTRAN, MATLAB, and Visual Basic, in addition to a healthcare background in Massage therapy.

I’ve used lean Kaizen six-sigma to solve complicated engineering problems with Robot Process Automation in the oil&gas industry, as well as in the automotive sector saving hundreds of millions of dollars for companies like Ingersoll Rand, Cameron Compression, Shell, GE, Siemens, Delphi (Mahle), GM, Toyota, Audi, Volkswagen, and Opel to name a few.

Recently, I’ve been working with some of the giants like Microsoft and Tesla on huge projects amounting to tens of billions of dollars of potential-new investments from angel investors, governments, and private equity firms. These companies are prime examples of being leaders in their respective industries, but they also have had challenges with workforce management during the pandemic and technology-applications, as we all have experienced.

Angel is one of the most positive, present people I’ve ever met. Being intentional, caring, and choosing how we will make an impact in the world are central themes in this interview. As you listen, consider whether you hear any signs of hesitation that would be typical for someone who hasn’t had any food for over 80 hours… shortly after our interview, I received this email from Angel:

I forgot to mention, and that would have caused some additional awe - humbly speaking, that I was at the time of our recording on my 84th hour of fasting. We talked about presence and intention..... so..., although I had only been on tea for the last 3 days and counting, the presence always comes from who we really are. That thing that allows us to be aware of who we are, is what holds us up, no matter what.

God bless.... I appreciate you.

I’m grateful to Angel for inspiring me and I sincerely hope you feel inspired too… and most important, that your feeling of inspiration translates into meaningful action. We can do better together!

Gary Melling is the President & CEO at Acquired Insights, a Canadian firm headquartered out of Burlingon, Ontario. Our editor had a tough time cutting anything from the interview because Gary had so much value to add so he basically left it all in. Gary gives us a lot to think about in leveraging our past to inform our future, taking a blended approach to work and life (as opposed to the traditional quest for "work-life balance"), and the importance of being intensely curious and allowing our curiosity to move us to meaningful action.
Thanks to Gary and his team for being available to make this episode happen.
