that feeling of discomfort as you watch someone’s muddy sneaker slowly lands onto a clean white carpet. we totally relate. but not everyone does. growing up in multiple cultures creates a unique blend of pride, resentment, and identity. how “white” are we allowed to be? at what point do we forgo one culture for the other? why do we steer towards one culture as opposed to the other? how do we navigate situations when our cultural morals and values contradict each other? we discuss all these questions and more with jhanvi, alezeh, and joeita who share stories of their experience with biculturalism and how to figure out who you are with all the different cultures you come from

in this episode, we dive into the world of beauty, style, and body image (for both men & women), and how the influence of our south asian roots clashes with the beauty expectations of america. as grandma wants you to put on some fair n lovely while your friends are out getting a tan, south asian americans are in a unique paradox of contradicting beauty standards, and it really doesn’t help our confidence. join sunjuna, kruthik, sai and praveen as they get real about the beauty expectations that come with their identity, and how that has impacted their experiences and manifested in their self-esteem & mental health. be sure to subscribe and follow us on instagram for more updates @samosas.mimosas :) see you next time~~
welcome to samosas and mimosas!!~ in our pilot episode, we get real about the frustrations around talking politics and social justice with our parents, especially when views and opinions don’t align. being at home because of the pandemic has been hard on many south asian americans, and especially with the intense political climate we’re seeing, its almost impossible not to discuss the important issues going on in the world around us. but that can often be stressful and draining when conversations are not productive. with family its hard too because, well, they’re your family & we can’t necessarily just cancel them. join sai, praveen and tanya as they share their frustrations, discuss how south asian culture shapes political views, and provide effective ways to take care of ourselves while navigating these spaces. be sure to subscribe and follow us on instagram for more updates @samosas.mimosas :) see you next time~~
