“That’s Why” is a youth-led podcast where students interview our community's many inspirational advocates and activists. In efforts to explore why these leaders of change pursued their particular passions and interests, this podcast aims to inspire youth and adults alike to do the same.

April is sexual assault awareness month, and we had the honor of interviewing Becky O’Neal, who has been a SANE nurse in Amarillo for 29 years in this very special episode of That’s Why!
Episode three features Jason Crespin, who has been working at the Amarillo Little Theatre for 14 years as the Academy Director. He has been volunteering with ALT since 1999 and is a proud graduate of the ALT Academy program. He graduated from WTAMU in 2006 earning a degree in Mass Communications with an emphasis in Advertising and Public Relations where he was most recently inducted into the WTAMU Communications Hall of Fame. He is an active volunteer in the community and loves to travel to NYC when ever he has any free time.
In this episode we interview Melodie Graves, a lifelong Amarillo resident and champion for her community. She is the 2nd Vice President of the Amarillo Branch NAACP, also serving as the ACT-SO and Youth Chairwoman, Scholarship Committee Chair, and plans community engagement events for the Branch. In her spare time, Melodie serves as a community advocate helping children and their parents find important resources and working to eradicate poverty through educational programs and community unity building events.
In this episode we interview Jason Boyett, who is the host and creator of the award-winning Hey Amarillo podcast, a weekly interview show that began in 2017. A journalist and writer who grew up in Amarillo and decided to base his career here, Jason has written more than a dozen books and hundreds of articles for regional and national publications.
