From - Brent James Ain’t nobody got time to read this shit but here we go anyway. Started playing music in front of people in high school. Sophomore year to be exact. Had a few beers and let it fly. Felt like magic. Got addicted to hands clapping and whistles. Been screwed with the songwriter bug ever since. Played in a couple bands after high school. Moved to NYC from my hometown of Frankenmuth Michigan when I was 23. Sang in a band. Toured many years in a van and trailer up and down the east coast. Got into another band. Did a record that Eddie Kramer mixed. It rocked. We broke up. Started doing a solo songwriter/rock and roll thing. Signed a publishing deal with Primary Wave/BMG/Skiddco. Did the record in Nashville with Skidd Mills and the Contraband boys. Had a single. Called it “Moment of Silence”. Went to #51 on Billboard. Kept playing shows the whole way. Toured/played shows with Ted Nugent, Alice Cooper, Daughtry, Cadillac Three, Candlebox, Uncle Kracker, Eric Church, Dierks Bentley, Huey Lewis and countless others. Moved to Cincinnati. met the Vintage Youth boys. Put out a few EP’s and a full length. Finishing another now. Out soon in 2020. Never stopped playing shows. Thanks for getting this far. Until next time folks!

Lance Lopez is an American blues rock and Texas blues singer, guitarist, and songwriter. Lopez has been influenced by Jimi Hendrix, B.B. King, and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Jeff Beck has described Lopez as "a very exciting and intense blues guitarist". Lopez has spoken over the years about being mentored by both Billy Gibbons and Johnny Winter. Lopez was age 16 at the time he met Gibbons, and they have remained friends throughout. Over the period between 2008 and 2011, Lopez toured in Europe extensively, playing at larger music festivals and supporting acts including ZZ Top, Whitesnake, Def Leppard, and Rod Stewart. In 2009, Lopez had signed a new recording contract with MIG (Made In Germany) Music / String Commander, who were based in Hanover, Germany. In 2010, the album Salvation From Sundown, which was produced by Jim Gaines was released by MIG. It was issued in limited edition format alongside a DVD of the Rockpalast concert recorded on July 25, 2009. It was deliberately arranged in a Texas blues style, which led to Jeff Beck calling Lopez, "a very exciting and intense blues guitarist". In March 2012, MIG Music released the sixth album from Lopez, Handmade Music. As with the previous release, the album was produced by Jim Gaines and recorded at the Ardent Studios in Memphis, Tennessee. In 2012, Supersonic Blues Machine was formed by Lopez, the drummer Kenny Aronoff, and the bassist and record producer Fabrizio Grossi. They released their debut album, West Of Flushing, South Of Frisco, which was recorded mainly by the three musicians separately and using Pro Tools technology to bring the various elements together. The same principle was used in selecting the guest musicians tracks to be added to the overall mix. The band was 'augmented' on the recording by Billy Gibbons, Robben Ford, Walter Trout, Warren Haynes, Eric Gales and Chris Duarte. Supersonic Blues Machine had its worldwide debut concert at the Holland International Blues Festival on June 4, 2016, in Grolloo, the Netherlands. The rigors of touring and the lifestyle caught up with Lopez around this time. Lopez stated "My own personal struggles were overcoming alcoholism, drug addiction and to start eating healthier, lose weight and exercise... I struggled for years drinking and drugging and eating badly while I was drinking... I became very overweight". Once recovered, Lopez noted about performing, "That still doesn't mean every night is perfect... but at least I can walk away and say I did the best I could and I was sober doing it". His next release was Live in NYC (2016), which was issued on Cleopatra Records and produced by Paul Nelson. The recording come out of Lopez attending, and performing at, the 70th birthday party for Johnny Winter. Lopez signed with the Mascot Label Group in November 2017, and his debut album on their Provogue Records imprint was Tell the Truth, which was released on March 2, 2018.It was produced by Fabrizio Grossi, and featured Jimmy Zavala. Ronnie Laws is an award-winning tenor saxophonist and composer whose career has, since the early 1970s, straddled the worlds of jazz and R&B. Since 1975 he has placed seven albums in the Top 200 -- including his 1975 Blue Note debut Pressure Sensitive -- as well as tracks and albums in no less than six other categories. He has worked as an in-demand session man and live musician with a who's-who of jazz and R&B greats including Ramsey Lewis, Gregory Porter, B.B. King, George Duke, Quincy Jones, Stanley Jordan, and dozens more. Laws, the younger brother of flutist Hubert Laws, is the product of a musical family. Two of his sisters, Debra and Eloise, are also professional singers. Born in Houston, Texas, Laws began teaching himself to play the alto saxophone at the age of 11. While his first love was baseball, a serious eye injury ended those dreams early and he focused on music, which he studied in high school, at Stephen F. Austin State, and later at Texas Southern University, where he switched to tenor, earned a degree, and developed a progressive mastery and technique.
In 1970 he moved to Los Angeles in pursuit of a musical career. He woodshedded with the Jazz Crusaders (Hubert had played with them in the '50s) and especially Hugh Masakela. His early gigs in the city were with pianist Walter Bishop, Jr., Doug Carn, and on his brother's CTI recordings. In 1972, he joined Earth, Wind & Fire for 18 months and was, in effect, its first saxophonist, playing both tenor and soprano; he played on the album Last Days and Time. In Los Angeles, he made the acquaintance of Donald Byrd. The two became friends and Byrd got Laws signed to Blue Note. His 1975 debut, Pressure Sensitive, got serious radio play despite landing at 73, and yielded the enduring jazz-funk classic "Always There." It has been covered and/or sampled by well over 100 artists. Laws was on his way. With his other '70s work -- 1976's Fever, Friends and Strangers, and Flame -- which boasted his first cross continental 12" hit "All for You," Laws established himself as a workhorse studio musician, playing on recordings by Ramsey Lewis, his sister Eloise, Arthur Adams, Gene McDaniels, and Wayne Henderson, to name a few. In the '80s, Laws was an international festival and club draw. Three singles from his first three albums all went gold, as did their respective long-players. Despite the fact that he is often characterized strictly as a "smooth jazz" artist, Laws might be the first instrumentalist to score hits in the emerging "quiet storm" subgenre of R&B.

Freddie Ramirez Freddie was raised in the Fresno and Bakersfield areas and started fly fishing at the age of twelve. His grandfather was a big influence in his life and got him fly casting before he knew what fly fishing was all about. Growing up, he camped and fished the Central Sierra and got his teeth wet fishing small creeks. He loved to read books about fly fishing and wondered where this sport would take him. When he was in High School his dad took a job that took him back to Bakersfield. Growing up there, he loved fishing the upper Kern river in the Johnsondale area. He then moved back to the Fresno area to finish school. He has been blessed with two beautiful daughters, a grandson and the love of his life Ann . He can say that fly fishing has always been an obsession of his and so has the art of fly tying. He was a fly fishing guide and guided for 10 years and he still loves sharing his passion of fly fishing. In the last 10 years, he has developed a passion for chasing warm water fish that has now become an addiction. He has been a program leader for Project healing water for 12 yrs and he likes sharing his experience and teaching inner city youth how to fly fish. He has been fortunate enough to fly fish all over the United States, Canada and South America. Now having a grandson that loves to fish and teaching his wife how to fly fish is his next chapter in life. There have been many people that have mentored him in fly fishing and in life and he would like to thank them all. “Please pass it on and become a mentor to our next generation of fly fishing people. Always remember, the tug is the drug! ” - Fred Ramirez

Guy talks to Matt Lourdeau about Brooke trout, Tiger trout and Smallmouth bass in his area as well as his very successful podcast "Cast Across" on Waypoint TV. About Matt Lourdeau - My first fish was an Illinois canal bluegill, and my first fish on the fly was a Yellow Breeches brown trout. Although the bluegill piqued my interest in nature and outdoor activities, that brown trout was a catalyst that was to be measured a lot larger than its own twelve inches. Growing up in Northern Virginia, the trout and bass of that commonwealth, Maryland, and Pennsylvania were where I spent Saturdays and school holidays. After college, I relocated to Pennsylvania to live on some of the best spring creeks in the east (and, as I told everyone, to go to graduate school). I’ve worked for a big fly fishing company, sold rods for a small dealer, done private instruction, and served as director of the premier conservation youth camp in the country. But it most definitely isn’t just fly fishing. I’m married to a wonderful woman who happens to be my high school sweetheart. She’s awfully patient and tolerant of most of my angling pursuits. I have four amazing boys, and all love to be outdoors and have shown an interest in things that swim and squirm. I love my family, fishing, barbeque, civil war history, music, football, and, most of all, Jesus Christ. I’ve always written, and for years thought about organizing the coherent bits into a website. It’s happened, and I look forward to where it goes. -Matthew Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

*Bernard Yin celebrates the struggle between diverse interests. Fly Fishing, Music, Surfing and the great outdoors.
Let's start with the fishing: Bernard had a great mentor: Andre Puyans of Northern California's legendary Creative Sports Fly Shop. Decades later he worked at the Fishermens Spot in Van Nuys, CA; reuniting with one of his Creative Sports cohorts Ken Lindsay. Then, later, while taking a break from rock and roll, Bernard guided in the Yosemite and Kings Canyon region. All of this surrounding an ongoing fascination with struggling So Cal trout populations. Recently, to satisfy his need to "do good deeds for fish", Bernard has been taking drone footage of California waters to assist CalTrout's dam removal agenda. Top it off, he and his wife Rebecca were recruited as Ambassadors for CalTrout and did a social media takeover with images from So Cal's delicate wild trout waters in both times of good and bad.
Got Music? Bernard's history in bands and other musical projects spans over 30 years and in his own words is "too exhausting to recount so let's focus on the present ok?". The group Bernard currently shares with his wife Rebecca, PAR AVION, was recently part of the rollout of the documentary: Birth Of Endless Summer - a documentary about the inspiration behind the original iconic Bruce Brown film and surfing pioneer Dick Metz. PAR AVION is a surf influenced band and performs mostly in Southern California but has toured also ventured to such places as Mexico, France, Italy, and Puerto Rico. During the pandemic, they shifted focus to recording for film and tv licensing although now, live gigs are increasing rapidly. They are proud of their diverse supporters and as a result have found themselves performing at everything from the Lightning in a Bottle festival to the Tiki Oasis festival to, yep, Fly Fishing events such as the California Fly Fishing Open on the Kern River.*

Capt Tom Rowland is a fishing guide in both fresh and saltwater turned entrepreneur. Becoming a flyfishing guide in Jackson Hole, WY was a dream come true but finding great success in Key West, FL was even more of an unlikely success story. At first simply guiding anglers to their best catches was what drove Tom to obsession but upon entering his first ever fishing tournament, he saw that he missed competition in his life. After that first tournament, Tom went on to compete in every tournament he could find including ones that featured an international field. From Florida Keys Charity tournaments like the Redbone to professional Redfish tournaments to freshwater fly fishing tournaments, Tom has competed in and won tournaments of all kinds both as an angler and as a guide.
No one could have predicted what came next as Tom and his partner started a production company, created, starred in, sold and distributed a television show on ESPN and OLN Networks only to replicate this popular format 2 additional times in offshore fishing and freshwater Bass Fishing. They did this with no formal education about television of business. It happened out of sheer determination, hard work, and hustle. That original show is known as Saltwater Experience and it has been on the air for 17 years. The second show was Into the Blue (14 years) and the third is Sweetwater (11 years). Along the way, there was another show called Fitness Truth which aired for 2 years and covered the very early years of the then underground fitness movement of CrossFit.
Out of necessity due to declining television ratings and cord-cutters, Tom and his partner Rich Tudor then created a digital network called Waypoint TV to take the outdoor television landscape to digital OTT platforms. Again, Waypoint was built on the hustle and hard work rather than outside capital, high profile contacts, and formal education.
Most recently, he has become a podcaster and creates inspiring and educational content for his loyal audience that includes interviews with entrepreneurs from all industries, fishing and hunting icons as well as, "how-to" advice. Tom credits much of his success to his dedication to his physical condition and keeps physical education as a foundational part of his message. At this point, it may go without saying that he knew nothing about podcasting either. More hard work, mistakes, and determination led to the growth of this property as well. The Tom Rowland Podcast has been downloaded more than 1 million times and is growing more rapidly than anything else.

Simon Gawesworth is one of the 50 most influential fly fishers/ instructors on the planet. Born in the United Kingdom and now working for Farbanks Enterprises (Sage, Rio and Redington) in the state of Washington.
Simon learnt to fish at the age of 6 and took up fly fishing when aged 8, being trained by his father - well-known fly-fishing instructor and author, John Gawesworth. By the time he left school at 16 to teach fly fishing Simon had become the British Junior casting champion, repeating the feat the next year. In the following years Simon broke seven British casting records and won the adult casting championships three times in succession, representing England in two European and one World Team Championships.
With the collapse of the British Casting Association and the tournament casting scene in the UK, Simon turned his hand to competitive fly fishing. Over the following years Simon represented England in three home internationals (against Ireland, Scotland and Wales), two European championships and five World Championships, culminating in the prestige of becoming the England Team Captain and Manager for the 2003 World Championships in Spain.
In January 2001 Simon and his wife moved to the United States to start working for a new fly line company called RIO Products, based out of Idaho Falls, ID. Working for then owners Jim & Kitty Vincent, Simon quickly took on the marketing role for RIO Products, as well as developing and designing fly lines for the brand.
During his career Simon has written numerous articles for the fishing press, published three books on spey casting, presented five instructional videos and DVD’s, appeared on numerous television and radio shows, demonstrated casting at fly fishing shows around the world and is recognized as one of the leading authorities on Spey casting and fly-casting instruction. In addition, Simon is the host of RIO’s acclaimed “How To” fly fishing video series, as well as the main presenter in RIO’s Fly Fishing Tips video series. His relaxed, easy to understand teaching and presentation manner is followed and loved by thousands of fly fishers around the world.
He is an FFI (previously FFF) Master and THCI (Two Handed Casting Instructor) certified instructor and also holds the APGAI and STANIC diplomas for Fly Fishing Instruction in the UK. The 26-year-old Californian began kayaking at age 6, ran his first class V rapid at age nine, and was a known name in the California kayaking scene by the time he hit high school. Being the son of Tom Moore – owner of Sierra South Paddle Sports in Kernville, California, Evan grew up on the banks of the Kern River and was part of the whitewater scene practically from birth.
Growing up, kayaking wasn’t his only passion. Evan was a very accomplished high school football Quarterback which led him to Sacramento to play football at one of the top Junior Colleges in the country. Although he was extremely dedicated to football, something was missing in his life - whitewater kayaking. After a long hard decision, Evan walked away from football to pursue kayaking and has not looked back since. He’s been to eight different countries in the last year chasing the biggest and hardest whitewater the planet has to offer.
“I’ve set both local and global goals for myself as a kayaker. I want to become the first person to run every inch of whitewater on the Kern River, and I want to find new whitewater in all corners of the Earth. Doing that requires great gear like Kokatat makes. It’s an honor to be on Team Kokatat and representing the company.”
Evan’s philosophy in life is to ‘pursue what your heart tells you to do, and not let outside influences stop you from achieving your dreams’.
