In this episode, I talk about our 0-0 draw to bottom of the league Burnley. There's chat about our woes in January, some of the individual performances, the Westwood yellow card, our chances of getting top 4, whether letting Ainsley Maitland Niles go out on loan so early in the window has come back to bite us, and if we've been naive in the January transfer window regarding our approaches for Vlahovic and Arthur Melo and a quick chat following on from last week about suspicious betting patterns in an Arsenal game.
In this episode, I discuss Arsenal's 2-0 loss at the hands of Liverpool in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final at the Emirates. There's talk about the lack of sharpness of the team, Liverpool being able to up the levels when required, our need for a clinical striker and a few positives that emerged despite the loss. I also discuss our poor disciplinary record since Arteta has taken charge of the club and look at the Vlahovic and Aubameyang transfer rumours. Finally, I briefly talk about the "suspicious betting patterns" in an Arsenal game reported by the Athletic.
Discussion of the mentality and fortitude that the 10 men of Arsenal showed against Liverpool in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final. Whilst the collective determination, grit and overall performance was commended, Ben White was praised for one of his best performances in an Arsenal shirt since making the switch from Brighton. There's chat about another all too familiar "Xhaka moment", the impact it had on the remainder of the game and how it has complicated our squad availability ahead of the North London Derby. I talk about Arsenal's diminished squad and their request to the Premier League to postpone the North London Derby, what we will do if the game does go ahead and briefly discuss Arsenal's interest in Arthur Melo from Juventus.
