In this sermon series, " A Journey from Resistance to Redemption," we will delve into the transformative story of Jonah and uncover profound lessons about God's grace and our need. As we explore Jonah’s journey, we'll witness how God's mercy extends far beyond our expectations and prejudices, and how He uses even our shortcomings and failures for His greater purposes.

What does Peter have to say, after decades of walking with Jesus. We are to obey God with gladness and be counter-cultural in our lifestyle. Mediocrity is a real option for you and me. Mediocrity happens when lack of wisdom, the fear of man and an unguarded heart meet with compromise! We are sojourners who live as citizens of Heaven, representing the Kingdom of God. At times we are out-of-sync w/ the world.
1 Peter 1:13–21 “Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, 15 but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” 17 And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one’s deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile, 18 knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot. 20 He was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was made manifest in the last times for the sake of you 21 who through him are believers in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.”
Examine Peter's bold attempt to walk on water toward Jesus and the subsequent lesson in faith he learned. Discuss the importance of faith in leadership, taking risks for the sake of the gospel, and trusting in God's power even in the face of challenges.
Matthew 14:28-31 "And Peter answered him, 'Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.' He said, 'Come.' So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, 'Lord, save me.' Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, 'O you of little faith, why did you doubt?'"
Explore Peter's call to discipleship by Jesus and the initial steps he took to follow Christ. Discuss the qualities Jesus saw in Peter that made him a potential leader and how Peter's willingness to leave his occupation and follow Jesus teaches us about commitment and obedience in leadership.
Matthew 4:18-20 "While walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. And he said to them, 'Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.' Immediately they left their nets and followed him."

Life is tough! This is not a new discovery. In the Old Testament,
God had promised Israel success and prosperity if they obeyed Him. They didn’t!
Consequently, they were taken into captivity. Land and possessions were destroyed, and lives were lost.
Despite the loss, God was at work to offer hope and joy and perspective.
Similarly, if you have been feeling the struggle of life, you can trust in
God’s sovereign plan to help you reclaim your gratitude, generosity, and prayer.

Our world has distanced itself from God. Many don't understand God and even struggle to describe God. Throughout Scripture, there are many interactions when God introduces Himself. For the next several weeks, we will study various Scriptures throughout Genesis where God reveals who He is, what He does, and how to know Him. In subsequent sermon series, we will expand our study to include the rest of the Pentateuch, Judges, Kings, the Prophets, and the New Testament. We hope you will join us so that together we can get to know God even better.

Our faith is both simple and complex. Jesus has forgiven our sins, and He has also called us to take up our cross daily and follow Him. What does this mean for us when we are making plans, building relationships, and fighting for peace.
For the past 2,000 years, Paul's letter to the church in Galatia, written between his first and second missionary journeys, has offered much needed clarity. We hope you can join us for a deep dive to learn more about the value of our salvation offered by grace through faith.
