Eating disorders - a mental illness that some may be surprised to see described as such. Many would think this was a purely physical illness, but that is a true misconception that can lead to much confusion, lack of awareness and understanding on how to address this issue in our society. What is an eating disorder, who do they affect and where to they come from? Part self testimonial, and part interview giving information about this topic, if you or someone you know is suffering from an eating disorder, then this is an episode you need to hear. I sit down with ANEB Quebec's (Anorexie & Boulimie Québec) Ms. Josée Lavigne to get you the answers, and hopefully raise awareness and some empathy and understanding about this subject. But above all, to give you the courage to seek the help you need, and the hope to keep going in your journey if you have an eating disorder.

You may have heard the term the Baby Blues.. But beyond just the blues, this following subject, Post Partum Mood and Anxiety Disorder (PPMAD), popularly known as Post Partum Depression, is more than just feelings of sadness. It is a serious mental illness that affects mothers, their partners and their loved ones. A recent Stats Can survey published in summer 2019 showed that almost a quarter of women who gave birth in 2018 reported feelings consistent with postpartum depression or an anxiety disorder. With the recent pandemic, incidences are also on the rise and now is as good as any time to talk about it. In part 1 of this 3 part series, I interview Ms. Rosa Caporicci, a Psychotherapist at the NDG Therapy - Monkland Professional & Medical Centre. She talks about the facts and information on PPMADs, social stigmas about parenthood, and shares her own story.

In part 1 of this 3 part series, I introduce to you my sister, Talar Kalaidjian, a masters graduate in Child Studies, with an interesting path. You will hear some of her personal story, and we will touch upon some of the basics of mental health for children vs adults.
Hard for me to describe this episode, but a sequence of current events and a podcast from Brené Brown got me inspired me to share what I think is an important message for us all. Getting personal in this one wasn't easy, but necessary.
This 2 part interview series with Emma Campbell, PhD candidate, Neuropsychology, introduces the concept of clinical neuropsychology, how it compares to clinical psychology, and the physical and biological aspects of mental illness with regards to brain functioning. We discuss various illnesses from anxiety and depression to dyslexia, the importance of early intervention, and issues related to the Covid 19 pandemic.

Allow me to introduce myself.. no really, FULLY, introduce myself. It was tough to record this episode because vulnerability and openness were very much necessary. Being raw and putting it all out there is hard, but it's the first step in breaking down the barriers and walls we have both with each other, and ourselves. In this episode, you will get to know more about who I am and why I've been inspired to do this podcast. Thank you for giving me this space to be heard.
Welcome to this introductory episode of my podcast, Let's Talk About This Yesterday! Here's a short listen on how this all came about, and what you can expect!
