Nine out of ten babies in the US are now missing one or more of the keystone bacteria their immune system needs to develop properly.
Stephanie is a PhD scientist, co-founder and CEO of Persephone Biosciences, and a mom who built her company's biggest study after a pediatric researcher asked her a question that stopped her cold: if you can fix the microbiome of cancer patients, why not fix it in babies? That question led to MyBabyBiome, the largest microbiome study of US infants to date, and to the discovery that something has shifted in how babies acquire their earliest gut bacteria.
We get into what "missing" actually means (as in, undetectable even with modern DNA sequencing), why C-section babies are twice as likely to be affected, why breast milk alone doesn't always fix it, and why Stephanie now tells clients that the most important inheritance you can give your kids is your microbiome. We also cover why the probiotic on the shelf at Whole Foods probably isn't doing what you think it's doing, and why it's genuinely not too late to shift things as an adult, even if you've had gut issues since childhood.
Dr. Stephanie Culler, PhD, is the co-founder and CEO of Persephone Biosciences. She earned her PhD in Chemical Engineering at Caltech, where she focused on gene therapies for cancer, and spent the first several years of Persephone's existence developing microbiome-based cancer therapies before shifting the company's focus to infant and toddler gut health after becoming a mother. She led MyBabyBiome, the largest study of the US infant gut microbiome to date, which found that 9 out of 10 US babies are missing one or more keystone Bifidobacterium species linked to healthy immune development (published in Communications Biology, 2025).
Persephone Biosciences makes Bloom (for infants 0 to 12 months) and Thrive (for toddlers 12 months and up), synbiotics that pair specific Bifidobacterium strains with human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) and vitamin D.

Minerals are often the missing link in any health related concern AND the biggest needle mover for individuals who have "tried everything".
If you've done the SIBO protocol, the parasite cleanse, the supplement stack, and your body still isn't responding, this episode is probably the piece you've been missing. Lisa Pitel-Killah is the founder of Vykon Customs and one of the people I trust most in the mineral world (I did my HTMA level one and level two training with her), and in this conversation we cover why minerals have to come before every other protocol, what's actually driving estrogen dominant symptoms that never show on a hormone panel, the truth about calcium supplements and constipation, how to think about binders like humic/fulvic and zeolite, and the clinical reason most gut protocols plateau before they should. Whether you are an individual struggling with health concerns or a practitioner curious about minerals, this is a great listen!

There's a parasite moving across the country right now so Dr. Heather went down the rabbit hole to give you a clear way to think about the 2026 Cyclospora outbreak.
If you've had a stomach bug over the last couple of weeks that seemed to clear up and then came roaring back, this one is worth your time. That relapsing pattern is one of the biggest clues for this particular infection, and it's the thing most people miss.
Heather breaks down what Cyclospora actually is, why this outbreak has been so hard to trace, what genuinely lowers your risk at the grocery store and in your kitchen, and exactly what to do if you think you have it. Including the one thing that actually clears it, and the honest line between real treatment and the supplements that only ever play a supporting role.

If you've accepted the 2pm crash as just "who you are," this episode is going to challenge that.
That afternoon wall with the brain fog, the chocolate craving, the counting down until bedtime, isn't a personality trait. It's your body telling you something. And in most cases, there are very real, very fixable reasons behind it.
In this episode, we're talking about what's actually driving your afternoon energy crash: blood sugar instability, mineral depletion (magnesium, sodium, potassium, iron, and copper), and what it actually means to be hydrated. Plus, four simple habits to try for the next 30 days, and a few mineral-rich mocktail recipes to replace that third cup of coffee.
And if you've already tried all of it and you're still crashing, that's exactly what HTMA testing is for. Instead of guessing what your body needs, you get the data.

Think about the last trip you took. Were you actually there for it, or were you running a quiet background math equation the whole time, tracking what you ate and wondering if you'd be too bloated for dinner?
For a lot of people with gut issues, travel is something to survive rather than enjoy. But here's what's interesting: some of the women Dr. Heather works with who struggle the most at home actually feel better on vacation. They eat foods they normally avoid, skip their usual protocol, and come back more regular and less bloated than they've felt in months.
In this episode, Heather breaks down the actual physiology behind both experiences, why travel throws your gut off and why it sometimes fixes it, and gives you a practical plan for your next trip so you can be present instead of managing symptoms the whole time.

If you dread the week before your period and your labs keep coming back "fine," this episode is for you.
In this episode, Dr. Heather walks through a real client case: cycle-linked headaches, heart palpitations, fatigue, and itchy skin that had been written off for years. She was already taking magnesium and nothing was technically wrong. But every month, the symptoms showed up anyway.
What her HTMA revealed had nothing to do with hormones. Within a few weeks of targeted mineral support, the headaches were gone, the palpitations were gone, and her energy was noticeably better.
In this episode you'll learn why minerals are upstream of hormones and why a normal hormone panel doesn't tell the whole story, what it actually means when you're already taking magnesium but still symptomatic, why the luteal phase amplifies symptoms when your mineral reserves are depleted, and what the sodium-to-potassium ratio reveals about years of chronic stress that nothing else captures.

In this practitioner focused episode, Dr. Heather Finley breaks down what Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) actually measures, why it captures things that standard blood serum testing misses, and how practitioners can use it to understand a client's cellular mineral status, oxidation rate, and toxic metal burden.
She also addresses the hard questions about HTMA validity directly, including the lab variability research, the lack of a universal clinical standard, and AMA non-recognition.
Topics covered: how HTMA differs from bloodwork, the Big 8 minerals and significant ratios, oxidation rate and metabolic typing, hidden copper toxicity, HTMA validity and the JAMA studies, lab selection (TEI vs. ARL), and how to start using HTMA in clinical practice.

Most people think about magnesium for constipation and digestion.
What if the problem isn't that you're deficient in magnesium? What if the minerals you already have can't actually do their jobs?
That's what copper does. And it is one of the most overlooked minerals in functional nutrition.
In this episode, Dr. Heather covers the copper-zinc-iron-thyroid connection and why it matters so much when it comes to constipation, low ferritin, slow motility, and fatigue that doesn't budge.
What you'll hear in this episode:

For practitioners: On June 18, Dr. Heather is teaching practitioners how to identify mineral patterns using HTMA and other functional assessments, including how copper and zinc impact ferritin, why some clients don't improve with iron, and how minerals affect thyroid and gut function. This is part 3 of the iron/ferritin series!
Three episodes, three clients, three different breakdowns in the same system:
Part 1: Ashley's body couldn't absorb iron because of active gut infections and a system in defense mode.
Part 2: Danielle's body couldn't transport iron because of low ceruloplasmin, copper utilization impaired by long-term zinc, and microbial activity driving inflammatory sequestration.
Part 3: Jessica's body couldn't store iron because the terrain was depleted, the nervous system wasn't in a building state, and the downstream conditions for storage weren't in place.
Same symptom. Three completely different root causes and interventions.
If you've been listening to this series and you see yourself in one or all three, of these cases, and you want to actually understand which step is the issue for you, that is exactly what our May 31st webinar is built to help you figure out. We'll go through all three steps, the testing that shows you where your system is breaking down, and what to actually do about it. Link to register is in the show notes.
And if you're ready to work through this with our team directly, gutTogether is where we do this work together: GI Map, HTMA, Full Monty iron panel, and a plan built around your specific picture. No generic protocols. No "just take more iron." Just the real answer to why your body isn't doing what you've been trying to get it to do. The link is in the show notes.
Thank you for spending this series with me. I don't take it lightly that you trust me with your time and your health. I'll see you next week.

Most people assume low ferritin means they need more iron. But what about the woman whose ferritin is actually high and she still feels exhausted, is still losing hair, and is still bloated every single day? That's the case this episode is built around, and it's one of the most important iron stories Heather has ever told (because it goes WAY beyond iron)
This is Part 2 of a three-part series on iron, and it covers what happens after iron is absorbed and why it can still fail to reach the cells that need it. Dr. Heather walks through the case of her client Danielle who came to gutTogether eating clean, exercising consistently, and taking a carefully curated supplement stack and still couldn't figure out why her body felt so depleted.
In this episode:
Next week: Part 3 covers iron storage and what has to be in place for ferritin to actually build and stay built, and why some women do everything right and still can't get above 30

If you've been taking iron consistently and your ferritin still won't move, this episode is going to help you understand why.
This is Part 1 of a three-part series on iron, and it starts where most ferritin problems actually begin: absorption. Dr. Heather walks through the case of her client Ashley, whose years of stress, grief, antibiotics, hormonal birth control, and mold exposure created a gut environment that couldn't absorb iron no matter how much she took. Dr. Heather also breaks down exactly why iron intake is only one small piece of a much bigger system.
In this episode:
Next week: Part 2 covers iron transport: ceruloplasmin, copper, and why ferritin can stay low even when your iron looks normal on a blood panel.

Gas is one of those symptoms people joke about publicly but privately can wreck your confidence, keep you anxious before meals, and make you dread situations that should feel normal.
The thing is, gas isn't random. The smell, the timing, and the pattern are all clues, and once you know how to read them, you can stop guessing and start actually supporting your digestion.
In this episode, Dr. Heather breaks down the most common gas patterns, what they're pointing to underneath, and why removing more foods is rarely the answer.

That heavy, pressured, food-isn't-going-anywhere feeling after meals is one of the most exhausting GI symptoms to live with and one of the most misunderstood. In this episode, Dr. Heather breaks down why food can feel like it just sits in your stomach for hours, what's actually driving that slowdown, and why standard testing often misses it entirely. Digestion that is underpowered, depleted, or stuck in survival mode has a real path forward and this episode walks you through exactly what's going on.

Reflux is one of the most common symptoms we see… and also one of the most misunderstood. Most people are told it’s either too much stomach acid or not enough, but many still feel stuck even after trying both approaches. In this episode, we take a step back and look at reflux through a more complete lens. While its easy to assume reflux means "too much" or "too little" acid, its more nuanced than that. It often involves how your body is handling it, including factors like pressure, motility, and how well that “lid” between your stomach and esophagus is functioning.

If you feel like your food just sits there like a brick or you’re bloated after meals, burping, dealing with reflux, or still constipated no matter what you try…
There’s a good chance one of the most important parts of digestion is being overlooked.
In this episode, we’re talking about low stomach acid: what it actually does, how to know if yours might be low, and why it can impact everything from bloating and reflux to constipation, iron levels, and even SIBO.
Because here’s the truth:
You can be taking magnesium, probiotics, fiber, or even iron…but if your digestion isn’t working well at the very top, your body may struggle to break down, absorb, and move food the way it should.
This is one of the biggest patterns we see in women who feel like they’re doing everything right…but still have GI symptoms

Burping after meals? Bloated by the end of the day? Constantly gassy no matter what you eat? In this episode, Dr. Heather breaks down what your gas might actually be trying to tell you. From low stomach acid and slow motility to SIBO, dysbiosis, and bile flow issues, you’ll learn why gas is often more than just an annoying symptom. Gas is a clue that digestion is breaking down somewhere. If you’ve treated SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth) before and either nothing changed… or things got worse… this episode is for you!
Because what if it’s not just bacterial overgrowth?
In this episode of the Love Your Gut podcast, Dr. Heather Finley breaks down one of the most overlooked reasons women stay stuck with bloating, food reactions, sugar cravings, and “gut protocols” that never seem to fully work: SIFO, or small intestinal fungal overgrowth
You’ll learn why SIFO can look a lot like SIBO, why it’s often missed, and why repeated antibiotics, low stomach acid, restrictive diets, and chronic stress can all create the kind of environment where fungal overgrowth can thrive.

If you’ve ever been told you have SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth) and immediately felt overwhelmed by what to do next, this episode is for you. Because while a diagnosis can feel like a relief after being told “everything is normal,” it often leads to more confusion: antibiotics, elimination diets, supplements… and still no clear plan. In this episode, Dr. Heather is breaking down what actually matters after a SIBO diagnosis and why so many people stay stuck in the cycle of temporary relief and recurring symptoms.
We’re shifting the focus away from just “killing bacteria” and toward understanding why the overgrowth happened in the first place, so you can take a more strategic, sustainable approach to healing.
You’ll learn:
• The biggest mistake people make right after a SIBO diagnosis
• Why antibiotics alone often don’t prevent SIBO from coming back
• The different types of SIBO and why that changes treatment
• How restrictive diets can keep you stuck longer than you think
• The key systems that need to be supported for lasting results

Low ferritin and digestive issues like SIBO are often treated as completely separate problems. One is considered a blood lab issue, the other a gut issue. But clinically, these two patterns frequently overlap.
Many people struggling with SIBO, bloating, or constipation also find their ferritin stays stubbornly low despite taking iron supplements or increasing iron-rich foods.
In this episode, we unpack how digestion, the microbiome, stomach acid, and inflammation can all influence iron absorption and regulation. When you understand that all of your symptoms are connected by shared underlying root causes the path forward becomes clearer!
In this episode, we discuss:
If you’ve ever wondered why your iron levels don’t seem to improve despite doing everything “right,” this episode will help you start connecting the dots.

Protein is one of the most talked-about nutrients right now, but the conversation often misses the bigger picture. In this episode, Dr. Heather sits down with registered dietitian, New York Times bestselling author, and founder of Rachael’s Good Eats, Rachael DeVaux, to talk about why protein matters for far more than muscle building.
They break down how protein impacts blood sugar, digestion, cravings, and energy throughout the day and why so many women are unintentionally under-eating it. Rachael also shares practical strategies for building satisfying meals, reducing the 3PM crash, and supporting gut health without restrictive dieting or complicated tracking.
If you’ve ever felt tired in the afternoon, constantly hungry between meals, or unsure how to actually eat enough protein without feeling overly full, this conversation will give you a simple place to start.
In this episode, we cover:
• Why many women are unknowingly under-eating protein
• The connection between protein, blood sugar stability, and digestion
• What the 3PM energy crash may be telling you about your meals
• Why eating substantial meals can support gut motility and reduce bloating
• How protein and fiber work together to support gut health
• Practical ways to increase protein without feeling heavy or overwhelmed
• Simple breakfast ideas that can stabilize energy for the entire day
• Why reducing food stress can improve digestion and overall health
Rachael also shares some of her favorite quick recipes from her new cookbook The High-Protein Plate, along with realistic tips for busy families who want nourishing meals without spending hours in the kitchen.

Have you ever said, “My stomach has never been the same since that trip…” or that questionable BBQ, honeymoon, or random meal that left you sick for days?
Food poisoning isn’t always something you “just get over.” For many people, it’s the starting point of long-term bloating, urgency, constipation, food sensitivities, and anxiety around eating.
In this episode, Dr. Heather breaks down why post-infectious IBS accounts for a significant percentage of IBS cases and how an acute infection can disrupt gut motility, immune signaling, stomach acid, bile flow, and mineral balance long after the initial illness passes.
If you’ve been stuck in cycles of low FODMAP, antimicrobials, probiotics, and still feel six months pregnant by 5pm… this conversation will connect the dots.

You started magnesium for constipation. It worked.
And then… it didn’t.
Now you’re increasing the dose, relying on it nightly, and wondering why your body won’t cooperate.
Here’s the truth: if magnesium stopped working, it’s not because you need more of it.
Magnesium can support bowel movements. But it doesn’t fix the reason your system slowed down in the first place.
In this episode, I break down:
• What magnesium actually does (and what it doesn’t)
• The mineral patterns I see when it “stops working”
• Why potassium, bile flow, and stress matter more than you think
• How you can poop daily and still be constipated
• What actually restores long-term rhythm instead of relying on stimulation
Constipation is rarely just a colon issue. It’s often a top-down digestion issue.
If you’re tired of bandaids and want a personalized, step-by-step plan to restore your digestion from the root, this is exactly the work we do inside gutTogether.

If you’re constipated… and your ferritin won’t improve… this episode is for you.
Constipation isn’t just uncomfortable, it's often a sign that your digestive system, minerals, and stress response are all under strain, and when that happens, iron can be one of the first things to stall.
In this episode, I connect the dots between:
Because ferritin doesn’t improve just because you take iron.
Ferritin improves when the whole system improves.
If iron has made you feel worse…
If your ferritin only improves while supplementing…
If you’re bloated, sluggish, and exhausted despite “normal labs”…
This conversation will make things click.

If you’ve been told to “just take iron” for low ferritin and it either didn’t work or made you feel worse, this episode is for you.
In this episode, I’m sharing my personal postpartum ferritin story and walking through why iron alone wasn’t the answer for me… or for so many of the clients I work with.
Low ferritin is one of the most misunderstood labs I see. And for most people, it’s not about iron intake. It’s about whether the body is actually ready to absorb, use, recycle, and store iron.
In this episode, we zoom out and talk about the systems that control ferritin, including digestion, motility, minerals, and liver support.

If you’re wondering whether food sensitivity testing will finally explain your bloating, constipation, or GI reactions, this episode is for you. We talk through why food sensitivity lists often keep growing, what those results are actually reflecting, and why eliminating more foods doesn’t always lead to lasting relief.
You’ll learn how digestion, stress, and immune signaling influence food reactions, why many people feel worse after doing “everything right,” and what question to ask instead if you want real progress.
If you have ever been curious about food sensitivity testing and what it actually measures or shows related to your gut health, make sure to listen in!

Let's be real: eating healthy was the answer, you’d already have relief from your bloating and constipaiton.
Most of the women we work with are already doing the “right” things including: eating whole foods, avoiding junk, taking supplements, and yet, they are still dealing with bloating, constipation, and a gut that feels unpredictable.
In this episode, I break down why that happens and what’s actually missing.
You’ll learn why clean eating alone doesn't fix GI issues, how mineral depletion quietly impacts digestion and stress tolerance, why healthy foods can feel worse when digestion is weak, and how stress, gut bacteria, and infections can all interfere with your ability to absorb and tolerate food.
This episode is especially for you if:

How often do you say no to plans because you don’t know how your stomach will feel?
Have you ever checked a menu days in advance, chosen clothes based on bloating, or left an event early just so you could be comfortable?
Living with gut symptoms affects so much more than digestion. It quietly shapes your decisions, your energy, and how present you feel in your own life.
In this episode of Love Your Gut, I share my own story of navigating bloating and gut issues in my 20s, including how symptoms once dictated what I said yes to and no to. We talk about why gut symptoms steal mental space, why they often keep coming back, and what actually changes when digestion is supported at the root.
If your stomach has been running the show lately, this episode will help you understand why and how to take action so you no longer have to let your GI issues run the show!

Do you feel like you’re always starting over when it comes to your gut health?
Every January (or month, Monday, etc), you might decide this will be the year you finally fix your digestion. You start strong… and then a few weeks later, everything falls apart.
In this episode, Dr. Heather explains why that happens and why it has nothing to do with willpower or discipline (you might be surprised what it is that actually holds you back!)
This episode is a conversation about nervous system regulation, realistic expectations, and how to create gut healing that actually lasts.
If you’re tired of starting over every January (or every Monday), this episode will change how you think about consistency and gut health.

So many women do everything right — eat well, exercise, get their labs checked — and still feel tired, puffy, bloated, or frustrated when their skin flares and their energy crashes. And when bloodwork comes back “normal,” it’s easy to feel confused or even dismissed.
This conversation brings so much clarity to what your body may actually be asking for: mineral support.
In Part 2 of Heather Brown’s HTMA review, we unpack her real mineral test results and explore how hidden imbalances — like high calcium, low sodium + potassium, a high magnesium burn rate, and iron–copper issues — can quietly contribute to symptoms like low energy, stubborn acne, difficulty recovering from workouts, and feeling like your usual habits just aren’t working anymore.
In this episode, you’ll learn:
If you’ve been wondering why your energy is low, your skin isn’t cooperating, or your usual routine isn’t giving you the results it used to, this episode will help you understand what your minerals might be trying to tell you — and where to go from here.

So many women move through pregnancy feeling exhausted, puffy, bloated, and overwhelmed by symptoms that never quite make sense. And when labs come back “normal,” it’s easy to feel confused or even dismissed. This conversation brings clarity to what your body is actually asking for: minerals and electrolytes.
In this episode, we talk through why electrolytes for pregnancy matter far more than most people realize, how fatigue and bloat are often rooted in mineral depletion, and why supporting minerals can completely change how you feel during pregnancy and postpartum.
We unpack what it looks like to enter pregnancy already depleted, how those symptoms get louder as the months go on, and why simple electrolyte support can improve energy, digestion, hydration, skin, and even hair growth. You’ll also hear how personalized mineral support through HTMA testing can help you understand what your body needs so you can finally feel better.
Inside this episode, you’ll learn:
• Why normal bloodwork doesn’t always show mineral imbalances
• How low electrolytes contribute to fatigue, puffiness, and digestive issues
• The connection between electrolytes and better stomach acid, hydration, and blood sugar
• Simple ways to support sodium, potassium, and magnesium during pregnancy
• What a custom mineral blend is and how it can replace multiple supplements
• How electrolytes support postpartum recovery, milk supply, and hormone balance
If you’ve been wondering why you still feel tired, bloated, or dehydrated no matter how healthy you eat or how much water you drink, this episode will help you understand what your body has been trying to tell you.

Weight Loss Resistance, Stress, and the Mineral Patterns Behind a “Stuck” Metabolism
Today’s episode features an incredibly relatable story from Lindsay, a marriage and family therapist, military wife, mom of two, and someone who felt like she was doing everything “right”: eating well, following the plan, exercising, pushing herself… and still gaining weight, feeling exhausted, and being told her labs were “normal.”
After pregnancy and years of intense stress, deployments, and living abroad, her body felt completely out of control. Doctors offered restrictive diets, a thousand-calorie meal plan, and no real answers. Even after following those recommendations perfectly, nothing changed.
What did change?
Seeing her HTMA results and finally understanding why her metabolism was struggling and what her body needed to feel safe enough to start healing.
In this episode, Lindsay shares:
• What weight loss resistance felt like when nothing worked
• How chronic stress, postpartum depletion, and metabolism are deeply connected
• Why “normal labs” don’t tell the full story
• The moment she realized she wasn’t crazy and that she was actually depleted
• The difference mineral repletion made in her energy, digestion, mood, and confidence
• How improving her health shifted her marriage, parenting, and work life
• How she maintained her progress months later

In today’s episode, I’m joined by my mom, aka the one and only Queen Alice, to share her hilarious (and kind of wild) story about how supporting her minerals completely changed her health.
For years, she struggled with intense leg cramps, we’re talking full-body, middle-of-the-night, can’t-move kind of cramps. Doctors told her to drink more water, stretch, or just “deal with it.” But nothing worked… until we ran an HTMA test and discovered the real root cause: mineral depletion from years of stress.
You’ll hear:
If you’ve ever dealt with leg cramps, restless sleep, anxiety, or constant dehydration no matter how much water you drink this episode will help you connect the dots and see how simple mineral support can change everything.

When Lacey started losing handfuls of hair postpartum, she thought it had to be a hormone problem. Her labs were “normal,” her doctor told her to give it more time, and yet, she didn’t feel like herself.
That’s when we ran an HTMA test (Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis) and found what was really going on beneath the surface: extreme mineral depletion from pregnancy, breastfeeding, stress, and lack of sleep.

You’ll learn how the stories you tell yourself shape your physiology, why your nervous system can’t heal when it feels unsafe, and the small mindset and lifestyle shifts that can completely change your trajectory.

If you’ve ever looked at a stool test and felt completely overwhelmed by all the bacteria names, numbers, and colors, you’re not alone.
In this episode, Dr. Heather breaks down exactly what your stool test says about your symptoms, from bloating and constipation to hormone imbalance, fatigue, and skin issues. You’ll learn why stool testing goes far beyond “good vs. bad bacteria,” and how it maps out your digestion, detox pathways, immune health, and overall gut terrain.
Dr. Heather explains what it really means when markers like beta-glucuronidase, H. pylori, calprotectin, or secretory IgA are high or low, and how these patterns overlap to reveal the root cause of your symptoms.
You’ll walk away with a whole new perspective on testing and why it’s not about just "treating the test" and more about understanding what your gut is trying to tell you about how your symptoms are connected.

Have you ever told yourself, “It’s not that bad , I’ll deal with it later” when it comes to your gut symptoms (or anything?)?
I get it because I did the same thing. For years, I brushed off my bloating, constipation, and fatigue, hoping they’d go away. But ignoring those whispers from my gut eventually led to bigger problems: SIBO, Hashimoto’s, a slowed metabolism, and histamine issues.
Here’s the truth: your symptoms aren’t random. They’re signals & your gut waving a red flag asking for support. When you ignore them, they snowball into more complicated issues that are harder (and more expensive) to fix down the road.

You’ve done the SIBO antibiotics. Maybe even two or three times.
But you’re still bloated, still stuck on five “safe” foods, and wondering…
“Why isn’t this working?”
In the final episode of this SIBO mini-series, Dr. Heather shares 3 real client stories that show that SIBO recovery is not one-size-fits-all. Each client had the same diagnosis on paper, but needed a completely different plan to actually feel better.
If you’ve been told “you’re fine” despite ongoing symptoms, or you’re burnt out from restrictive protocols that go nowhere, this episode is your reminder: there’s a better way.
You’ll learn:
✔️ Why killing bacteria isn’t enough—and what to do instead
✔️ How mineral depletion, bile flow, and scar tissue can stall healing
✔️ What true gut repair looks like after a SIBO protocol
✔️ The difference between managing symptoms and rebuilding resilience

In this episode, we’re getting real about constipation—the kind that makes you bloated, miserable, and maybe even cry at a restaurant (been there 🙋♀️). I’m sharing my most embarrassing gut story, breaking down why fiber and water alone aren’t cutting it, and revealing the three key minerals your gut actually needs to get things moving: magnesium, potassium, and sodium.
We’ll talk about why magnesium alone might not be enough, how low minerals can totally stall digestion, and why HTMA testing is one of my favorite ways to get to the root of stubborn constipation. Plus, you’ll hear what finally helped one client go from backed-up and bloated to regular and relieved.

If you’ve been struggling with bloating, constipation, or sluggish digestion—and you feel like nothing is working—there’s a missing piece that almost no one talks about: potassium.
Most people think of potassium for hydration or muscle cramps, but did you know it’s also essential for gut motility? If you’re low, your digestion slows no matter how much fiber or probiotics you take.
In this episode, I dive into:
✅ How potassium fuels digestion & why low levels = slow bowels
✅ Why stress, adrenal function, and blood sugar can deplete potassium
✅ The best potassium-rich foods for gut health
✅ Why HTMA testing is a game-changer for uncovering mineral imbalances

In this episode of the Love Your Gut podcast, we dive deep into why minerals are essential for hormone balance, gut health, and overall wellness. I share my personal story of struggling with GI issues for over 20 years, feeling stuck, and why addressing mineral deficiencies was the missing link in my healing journey. Many people try endless diets, detoxes, and hormone supplements without real results, often because they’re overlooking underlying mineral imbalances.

We also cover common mineral deficiencies like low potassium, sodium imbalances, and high magnesium, plus how these can impact digestion, energy, and mood. I share a real-life case study of a client whose bloating and constipation only improved once she supported her minerals, along with the powerful changes she saw in her sleep and stress resilience.

Whether you invest in my program or someone else's, this will not happen by accident. She is here to remind you that your symptoms are simply messages that something is off, and that healing GETS to be easy (a paradox in today's modern system.)
Her formal bachelor's degree in psychology combined with extensive training and certifications from ICF accredited Health Coach Institute, plus over 500+ hours of yoga teacher training (as well as a God-given gift of deep empathy and life-altering experiences at a young age, such as abandonment, bankruptcy, suicide, and divorce) has set her up to be able to hold space for deep self-reflection and transformation, without judgment.
She has successfully combined the latest studies and science of gut health and behavioral psychology with her deep emotional and spiritual knowing to heal from autoimmune disease and experience a life of true health and abundance... and is ready to show you exactly how to do the same.

What is SIBO? SIBO is small intestinal bacterial overgrowth. It can cause unwanted bloating, fatigue, constipation, diarrhea, gas, nutritional deficiencies and more. And it’s one of the most common reasons that clients are experiencing their digestive symptoms. The traditional method for treating SIBO is to take antibiotics for 2-4 weeks to "kill" the SIBO and potentially to do an elimination diet. But this standard of care does not work for a couple reasons: 1) It’s not addressing the root cause of the SIBO 2) It is not empowering you as the client to understand how to prevent it from coming back 3) It is only addressing the small intestine
SIBO is a symptom, not a root cause like you may have been told.
In this episode of Love Your Gut podcast, if you feel completely stuck with your SIBO I want to give you some insight as to why your SIBO keeps coming back, what you can do about that, and then some actionable tips at the end of what you can do now while you're working on actually clearing your SIBO. So if you feel like you've tried all the antibiotics, all the herbals all the diets, everything this episode is for you. Tune in to hear more!

You need to foundational habits that will then allow you to see the fancy backsplash. But without a proper structure and the right grout, it’s not going to last. · “If you eat a mostly whole food diet, and you don't salt your food, then you definitely will need more salt. And that could be part of the dehydration problem.” [11:08]
· Now anything that is not caffeinated, I'm counting as hydration. “[09:06]
· “When you are really stressed your body is in a fight or flight state. And if you're operating each day from a fight or flight state, and you're not resting and digesting enough, tthen of course your digestive symptoms are in a flare.,” [13:08] Resources
