The last episode of The Transform Your Relationship Podcast for 2023 is live and is a little different than usual.

Everyone is moving through their own personal challenges. In the last few months, due to the global events and level of violence we are witnessing literally through our phones, it’s felt more polarized than ever and it’s deeply impacting relationships and a sense of safety and stability.

I felt called to share a guided practice with you to support you in metabolizing all we’ve been hearing, seeing, and sensing.

I share this from the perspective of a sensitive, empathic human being as well as a professional who has spent over a decade supporting others to navigate and resolve the impacts of early trauma. Witnessing the cycles of generational trauma playing out in the world has been heartbreaking.

This practice is shared in the spirit of holding space for you to sit with what is coming up for you in the midst of your surroundings. Please use it mindfully. I hope it serves you 🙏🏽

If you regularly feel emotionally overwhelmed, reactive or like you’re giving away too much of yourself in a relationship, “Ep 38: Leaning into your Sensitivity as a GIFT in Relationships” is for you.

I’ve experienced these very feelings and have witnessed many clients share stories of relationships feeling like an emotional rollercoaster and they could not understand why.

What the majority of my clients have in common is that they are highly sensitive.

When these traits are understood and cultivated, it can be an absolute gift to yourself and others, but, when you don’t understand it, it feels like your emotions are controlling you.

While I have no magic bullets, what I do have to share are:

  • Challenges & gifts of a few common traits of highly sensitive people
  • Ways to spot if they are showing up for you
  • What you can do to transform what feels like a ‘burden’ into a blessing

We’re living in wild times and it can be challenging on any given day to navigate what’s happening in the world.

Not only are we trying to process events in the world at large, but we’re also attempting to be present and attend to our immediate relationships – it can all feel like too much some days.

It’s why I’m taking the conversation I started on the last episode of The Transform Your Relationship Podcast to the next level – all about building your inner and often invisible processing skills so you have the bandwidth to:

  • explore what’s actually triggering you in a relationship that’s hidden beneath the surface
  • increase your capacity to sit with discomfort so you can deepen and grow your relationships
  • learn how to turn inwards for answers to your next steps vs trying to control someone else’s behavior

When you're struggling in a relationship, it's so easy to think that someone else changing their behavior will solve your problem.

What if I told you that you could cultivate an invisible skill that would actually be the thing that could change all your relationships for the better?

There is no magic pill and you can't do it overnight.

It takes self-awareness, time, practice and discipline.

I realize I'm not really 'selling' this very well, but to be honest, we live in a world that's moving too fast where so many people feel disconnected.

The promise of another quick fix is not going to solve that.

But what I know to be 100% true is that when this particular skill is cultivated, not only has it changed the quality of my client's relationships, but their life choices and the trajectory of their lives as well.

The time and dedication are well worth the effort.

Curious to hear more?

Check out "Ep 36: Part 1 The Invisible Skill That Transforms Relationships" where I break down how developing this skill can help you:

  • be less reactive and more responsive in relationships
  • deepen your connection with the people you care about
  • initiate tough conversations
  • end relationships that are harmful

Have you ever felt so absorbed by a relationship that you lost yourself?

This can happen to anyone, but if you resonate with being highly sensitive, you might be more susceptible to it.

While there can be beauty in feeling a deep connection, when you opt to connect at the expense of losing yourself, it’s only a matter of time until you personally feel the impact, physically, psychologically or emotionally.

In this week’s episode of the Transform Your Relationship Podcast, we dig into:

  • how losing yourself shows up in different types of relationships
  • why HSP’s are more susceptible to losing themselves
  • what you can do to start to become more aware of and shift this pattern

I often sense from clients a bit of hesitation when I invite them to slow down… because inevitably, it will mean they have to feel.

Even when that’s exactly what they want help with, it’s so much easier to keep talking through their issue because analyzing keeps them in their minds… where it feels safer.

When you drop down into your heart, there is a risk of feeling the pain, sadness, grief, or anger of a situation.

The key to shifting those feelings is not through making sense of them but through slowing down and allowing your emotions to metabolize.

As we move towards a change of season, I offer you some insights and a guided practice to help you slow down, connect inwards and deepen your relationship to yourself … so that you can connect more deeply with others.

Relationships are complicated enough and if you’re relying on your partner to meet all your social needs, you might be setting yourself up for frustration 😬

This is especially true if one of you is an introvert and the other an extrovert.

Which is why I LOVED my conversation with this week’s guest, Erin Woodruff, a Communications Coach who supports extroverts to be happily married to introverts!

We explore:

  • the false idea in society that our partner should meet all our needs
  • how relationships between introverts and extroverts promote growth and learning
  • how recognizing and own needs leads to better relationships
  • taking your power back around experiencing more happiness in your relationship

While this may be a pretty specific niche, I have a feeling MANY people will relate and benefit from this conversation.

When you’re caught up or overwhelmed by your emotions in any given situation, it’s hard to speak up in a way that will have the impact that you want.

What if there was a way you could harness the information your emotions were giving you and translate what you’re really feeling into words?

In Ep. 28 Deciding When to Speak Up In Your Relationships, we explore:

  • How sitting with your emotions can give you more ‘data’ and insight than analyzing your thoughts alone
  • The power of getting emotionally clear before speaking up
  • How to figure out what’s preventing you from speaking up
  • Why speaking up is not ideal in every situation

Going on a journey of personal development can be lonely. Everyone I know who has embarked on this adventure was at a pivotal point in their life.

They knew something had to change but didn’t know quite how to get there. This is where the right support is life-changing.

Join me in a conversation with one of my long-time clients this week where she shares her journey of going from ‘serving others beyond her capacity’ to claiming space in her relationship and living her life in greater alignment —

We discuss:

  • how she went from reactive and ‘over’ emotional to harnessing the power of her emotions
  • how giving away parts of herself to others was depleting her and what she did about it
  • how dropping from the ‘chaos’ of her mind to her body allowed her to speak from her heart
  • what taking up space in her relationship has felt like after feeling like she didn’t have the right to do so

I hope you love this conversation as much as I did!

What would your relationships look and feel like if you took the time to get to know yourself first?

This is something I talk about all the time… because frankly, I witness the biggest shifts in relationships when I see my clients express themselves from a place of confidence and inner knowing.

I’m excited to have this conversation with my guest Julie Reisler, who amongst being a teacher and mentor of coaches, she also authored “Get a PhD in YOU” so we have a similar philosophy around the power of knowing ourselves deeply.

We discuss:

  • baby steps to start tuning into your feelings and intuition
  • how listening to your body can propel your life in a new direction
  • what happens on the other side of NOT pushing your feelings down
  • three simple ways to bring more goodness into your relationships

There have never been more resources about mindfulness than there are these days… but do you actually see a difference in your relationship when you practice?

In theory, practicing mindfulness can help you be a better listener, have more patience, or more easily see something from someone else’s point of view – all such important skills.

I’ve learned over the years that it doesn’t automatically translate.

Join me for this week’s discussion where I share:

  • What I shifted in my own practice of mindfulness so it would lead to better relationships
  • How attending to what was happening in my body and not only my thoughts powerfully shifted how I communicate
  • How you can adapt your practice to actually improve how you show up and speak up in your relationship

Have you ever thought changing parts of yourself (or your partner) is what would make you happier in a relationship?

What about learning how you operate and offering compassion to all the parts of you?

Deep self-acceptance and allowing ourselves to feel & heal our way through our conditioning transforms our outer relationships in beautiful ways.

These are a few topics I dive into on this week’s episode of ‘The Transform Your Relationship Podcast’ with Analena Fuchs, Human Design and Gene Keys Guide for Conscious Leaders.

We discuss how understanding your human design chart helps you:

  • recognize how you may be taking on the feelings of others and your need for space and boundaries
  • ride the emotional waves in your relationship because you know each other’s patterns, needs and tendencies
  • release the mind chatter and self-doubt that drains your energy
  • be more accepting towards yourself and your partner

While connecting inwards may not be your first thought when it comes to improving your relationship, what I see over and over again is that taking the time to get to know yourself, what you need, and building a sense of inner resilience and self-trust is exactly what leads to better relationships.

Knowing yourself requires looking inwards and acceptance asks that you sit with ALL parts of you -- the parts that are easy to sit with as well as the more painful parts. It takes courage and a willingness to sit with discomfort -- while this may not be easy, the more you practice it, the easier it gets.

While I often talk about how somatic work helps us process our emotions, it's easier understood through experience.

My gift to you for this last episode of 2022 is a guided practice to help you 'feel your feelings' in hopes that it will support you in cultivating the resilience you need to thrive in all your relationships.

How often have you avoided asking for help because you didn’t want to be called ‘needy?’

As sensitive beings, we have been made to feel bad for having emotions and needs and we have forgotten that as humans, we do need each other.

What shifts this feeling and allows you to feel confident asking for support is feeling more grounded in your body and acknowledging that your needs are valid.

In this episode, we explore.

  • the balance between asking for what you need and feeling ‘needy’
  • why being highly sensitive can make it extra hard to ask for support
  • how giving and caretaking can start out as feeling good and then hit a tipping point
  • how having go to self-regulation practices and tools help us to express ourselves more clearly

The word trigger is pretty mainstream these days but just because you have a sense of what it means, it doesn’t necessarily make it easier to deal with at the moment.

Sometimes we’re triggered by what’s happening in the present. Someone is crossing a boundary or there is an injustice and we feel angry and say or do something about it.

Other times, you may notice an intense amount of anger, sadness or shame and it hits you like a ton of bricks right after you heard or saw something and it doesn’t completely make sense.

Those are the emotional triggers I dive into in this week’s episode of The Transform Your Relationship Podcast.

We explore:

  • How triggers may be showing up and impacting your relationships
  • How to determine whether your reaction is related to the present moment or triggering something from the past that wants your attention
  • The importance of awareness AND working with your nervous system to shift how you experience feeling triggered in your body
  • A simple exercise to help you recognize what’s underneath the trigger that is likely impacting more than one relationship in your life

In Episode 8 of the Transform Your Relationship Podcast, I’m speaking with Kyle Haskins, energy healer, clairvoyant and Body Code practitioner. Kyle utilizes The Body Code and his intuitive gifts to find and release trapped energy from the body and energy field.

“We all accumulate trapped energy from our experiences and traumas and these are stored in the form of emotions, memories and beliefs. The accumulation of this energy within our body and subconscious mind can lead to imbalances of the physical body, affect our emotional state and cause negative thought patterns, fears and self-sabotage. All of these hold us back from achieving the life we truly desire.”

It’s Kyle’s mission to help change the world one person at a time by helping them to remember their true magnificence and be sovereign in their energy, unimpeded by the past.

In our conversation, we discuss:

  • how our subconscious impacts our relationships in ways that are not obvious
  • the impact of inherited trauma in our how we relate to others
  • how stuck or unprocessed emotions can cause you to repeat unhealthy relationship dynamics
  • leaning into healing being a journey and not one stop solution to all your problems

If you’re dealing with the same pattern over and over again in a relationship and you’ve done a lot of conscious work around it, you’ll want to tune in to learn how your subconscious may be running the show in ways you didn’t realize and one thing you can do to improve your relationship.

Self-care feels like yet another task on our never ending to-do list but it doesn’t have to be that way.

Like so many other things, we tend to complicate self-care…adding the pressure of perfection to it... feeling like we need a specific amount of time or it doesn’t count or thinking it needs to look a certain way.

In this week’s episode of The Transform Your Relationship Podcast, I break down what I see as the true purpose of self-care for myself and my clients.

In this episode, we explore:

  • what real self-care looks like
  • getting beyond the ‘indulgence’ of self-care
  • what self-care reveals about your relationship dynamics
  • the power of self-care as a spiritual practice

This episode is filled with powerful journal prompts sprinkled throughout to help you explore this topic for yourself and support you to make tangible shifts in your life and relationships.

I’d love to hear your insights!
