There's a grand canyon sized gap between not doing anything and showing up consistently; furthermore, there's also a grand canyon sized gap between just showing and going through the motions and 100% focus, intensity, and purpose. In this episode we will talk about the differences between the two.

Topics like this can tend to strike a chord with some people. A good question to ask if you’re one of those people with a chord stricken, is to ask yourself a simple question:
Why do I get irritated when I read this?
The thing about humans, myself included, is we tend to confuse our convictions with offense and take what we perceive as an offense and immediately go on the defense.
Again, if this is you, slow your roll for just a few seconds and ask the question:
Why am I defending this so much?
We all have our struggles, and they come in many forms, but this one is common one and vice that strangles peoples’ lives.
10 LOGICAL HEALTH REASONS TO LIMIT/AVOID ALCOHOL
In conclusion, there are many reasons why alcohol is unhealthy for you. From damaging the liver to affecting brain function and increasing the risk of accidents, it’s clear that moderation or elimination is key when it comes to alcohol consumption.
Probably the biggest reason that isn't listed is the area of relationships. Alcohol isn’t famous for enhancing relationships, but it is famous for destroying them. Relationships are what truly matter in life. In the end of our lives, something health related will always get us in the end. Whether it’s an organ failing or a cancer developing, we will all eventually pass away, but our relationships with others live on. Make sure alcohol isn’t fracturing and destroying relationships with the people you love.
If you’re concerned about the impact that alcohol is having on your health, it’s important to speak to a doctor or healthcare professional.

In this monologue episode, I freelance on my thoughts on the "pinnacle" of a healthy lifestyle being the need for "6 pack abs."
6 pack abs, traditionally known as washboard abs, may be a byproduct of your healthy lifestyle choices, but it definitely should be not be the metric to measure health. Looking better is oftentimes the byproduct of healthy living, but be ever so careful to chase vanity. Look at Hollywood and even into the physique community. You'll find some of the most unhappy people in the world in those industries.

You're going to love this conversation with my friend Michael De Jong. Michael wears a lot of hats like myself, and I'm blessed to have him as a friend and brother in Christ. We've been able to sharpen one another in our weak spots in life and have mutually benefited from our friendship. Mike is a pastor, FCA (fellowship of Christian Athletes) director, as well as an entrepreneur so he brings a diverse background and has a unique perspective as he lived a rather "worldly" life for the first half of his life, much like myself.
I can't wait for you to hear from my friend Mike. I hope you're as blessed as I am by his wisdom.

This episode is one of the most inspirational conversations I've ever had with another human. I found myself moreso as a listener rather than an interviewer because I was just absorbing the wisdom from Robin.
How can anyone be grateful for getting the "C-word?" Well, Robin teaches us all how.

I've wanted to talk about this topic for awhile, as I feel it's such an overlooked an important part of raising well built kids. Now, of course I talk about a couple topics that are close to my heart, but this can applied in a lot of areas. Kids are not emotionally mature enough to choose to make the right decisions when it comes to "wanting" to do hard things. As a parent, you just have to be emotionally mature enough yourself to understand that your kids must learn to do hard things and persevere through them and not quit, just because it is hard. That is not a good recipe.

In this episode we discuss briefly why fitness matters in your recreation, and why at least part of your recreation should be somewhat physical. This will benefit you greatly, and I talk about how my fitness mattered a great deal recently while hunting in Nebraska with a good buddie also named Brandon.
Enjoy the story. Better yet, don't be lazy.

Despite all the ever-changing "shiny things" in the world that are promoted in our culture, what isn't celebrated or taught/encouraged enough is the art of discipline, or the art of "doing something you don't want to do in order to get a result you do want to have." Everybody wants to just do, be, and have whatever it is that they want without having to do the hard stuff. You see, the hard stuff is where people grow, learn, and mature. No discipline, no maturity. No discipline, no growth. Watch what happens to those who win the lottery who are without discipline. The story doesn't end well for them. The story always ends well with those who become disciplined.
Listen in for more dialogue on the topic of discipline.
Had an amazing conversation with a former athlete (now Lt. Tristyn Hanson) that I was blessed to coach in wrestling several years ago. He was an incredible multi-sport athlete in high school and was recruited to play football at the Air Force Academy, where he faced quite a bit of adversity, but found a way to excel and he shares some powerful insights into overcoming adversity in his life and the lessons he's learned along the way.

As humans we really like to make things complicated. And, because of the information age in which we live, there are so-called "gurus" everywhere not giving sound advice. In this podcast we talk about strength training versus exercise, basal metabolic rate (BMR), optimal protein intake, and macros. We also boil it down to 4 habits that you need to implement into your life in order to get to where you want/need to be with your health.
What are those 4?
Guess you'll have to listen.

Kettlebell training is a form of strength and power training for overall fitness or for enhancing athleticism. Their use can lead to some unique abilities to enhance overall work capacity, grip strength, and athleticism.
You could build an entire gym and spends thousands of dollars and still accomplish less than someone who knows what they're doing could get done with spending a few hundred bucks on a handful of kettlebells.
We've got a special guest in this podcast by the name of JP Penzkover. He's an RKC certified kettlebell coach and is well versed in all things strength and conditioning. As he's raising three young athletes in his home, he's relied almost entirely on kettlebell training as their "weight-room" and it's paying big dividends.
Enjoy this podcast with one of my best friends.

Remember this podcast is going to be unconventional, which is just about everything involved in being a Well Built Human. Look at what everyone else is doing, and you can probably bet doing the opposite is probably the right decision.
