A visit to rock bottom showed me that it was time to fight depression the right way. The journey dusted off my passion for writing which is something I do every day to keep me grounded. With hope to help others, I am here to share my journal entries to prove overcoming trauma is possible.
The power of appreciation can help fight the battles of today that stem from the unpleasant parts of the past. I am here with a very raw and brave message to help others know that it is ok to talk about whatever they are struggling with.
What would someone see if you turned inside out?

In a world with a need for more mental health awareness, the concept of setting and respecting boundaries is an important one. Boundaries are about protection, not punishment. "Fences" is a poetic reminder to respect privacy, but also remember that there is a piece in all of us that lives for human interaction. The pandemic has proved that, especially for those who battle anxiety and depression. For some of us, a trip down memory lane is the only escape. My pieces are short, but real and raw. My rock bottom is a place that needs to stay with me as a reminder of where I never want to be again. If you battle mental illness, YOU ARE NOT ALONE! If you are in recovery, YOU ARE NOT ALONE! If you are in search of the happiness you deserve, YOU ARE NOT ALONE! If you are someone who supports the above, THANK YOU! The mission of Treasures Around Us is to support positive mental health through the connection between appreciation and happiness. Every decision to start over is a decision to get better. That goes for athletes, artists, students, and those who battle mental illness. Coping skills ARE skills that help people get closer to a goal. In a few short minutes, "Balancing Act" reminds us that self forgiveness is a form of self care.
