Philippians 1:6: “He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”

The title of this episode is from a sermon by John Piper talking about God's Sovereign Grace in Salvation AKA- Irresistible Grace/Effectual Grace. I think every Christian confirms they believe God can do whatever he pleases. Well I'd hope so because it's a bible verse (Psalm 115:3) But the question then goes, does he save whoever he wants to at any time? Or is our will stronger than his in salvation? How effective was Christ's death on the Cross? Did it just open a potential to someone being saved or does it effectually save them. In historical Reformed teaching it is taught that Christ death was effectual, in that whoever Christ dies for that person will be saved. Consistency is what God uses and is so let us think through all our facets of our theology especially important things like Christ death on the cross(His atonement.)

God is still in control even through our suffering which is why we can trust him to get us through it.
From God using the Babylonian's to carry out his will in judging Israel, to God using Joseph's brothers evil actions to save many from famine, to God using the evil intentions of men to crucify Jesus to save us from sin. God is constantly using evil in this world and turning it around for His glory.
God doesn't just respond to evil but he decrees it will happen before the foundations of the world(Rev 13:8), yet we must remember he is never responsible for evil and does not create it. (James 1:13)
