The title of this episode is from a sermon by John Piper talking about God's Sovereign Grace in Salvation AKA- Irresistible Grace/Effectual Grace. I think every Christian confirms they believe God can do whatever he pleases. Well I'd hope so because it's a bible verse (Psalm 115:3) But the question then goes, does he save whoever he wants to at any time? Or is our will stronger than his in salvation? Let's dig in scripture and find out. For more about this topic here's a great article/video. https://www.desiringgod.org/messages/the-free-will-of-the-wind/excerpts/is-grace-really-irresistible

Reformed Teaching #4

How effective was Christ's death on the Cross? Did it just open a potential to someone being saved or does it effectually save them. In historical Reformed teaching it is taught that Christ death was effectual, in that whoever Christ dies for that person will be saved. Consistency is what God uses and is so let us think through all our facets of our theology especially important things like Christ death on the cross(His atonement.)

How should the worship in our services be balanced with both strong emotions and deep intellectual thinking?

From God using the Babylonian's to carry out his will in judging Israel, to God using Joseph's brothers evil actions to save many from famine, to God using the evil intentions of men to crucify Jesus to save us from sin. God is constantly using evil in this world and turning it around for His glory.

God doesn't just respond to evil but he decrees it will happen before the foundations of the world(Rev 13:8), yet we must remember he is never responsible for evil and does not create it. (James 1:13)

R.C. Sproul- "It(Reformed Theology) is a belief system that is indeed an entire life and world view with God at the center."

Reformed Theology, Calvinism, Tulip, The Five Solas, Reformed Protestantism. Whichever way you want to describe it, this was the predominant way Christians held the view of God and the Bible after the Protestant Reformation for 100's of years.

This episode we give a glimpse to the branch of theology we personally hold to known as Reformed Theology and explain why we're convinced it's the proper Biblical understanding of God, faith and the Bible.

The doctrine of the Clarity of Scripture states that God has made the Bible so that it may be clearly understood by ordinary believers.

Well, why are there so different denominations, groups and even so called "christian" cults?

It all comes down to how one interprets the Bible.

In order to help people avoid making mistakes in interpretation of the Bible, many Bible teachers have created techniques and guidelines to inspire development in the skill of correct interpretation.

In this episode we go through some of these techniques.

Check out the article we used as a layout for our principles of interpretation: https://carm.org/about-the-bible/how-to-interpret-the-bible/
