According to McKinsey research, Toxic workplace behavior is the biggest predictor of employee burnout symptoms and intent to leave. More than 60 percent of negative workplace outcomes are due to toxic workplace behavior.
A recent American Psychological Association survey found that 19% of workers describe their workplace as toxic. Those who labeled their workplace as toxic were over three times more likely to report mental health harm at work compared to those in a healthier work environment.
MIT Sloan Management Review reports a significant surge in employee resignations due to toxic workplace culture, which is 10.4 times more likely to be a factor in employees quitting.
Encountering a toxic work environment is a common professional challenge, prompting a desire to quit. However, the practical reality often makes leaving unfeasible. Recognizing this common challenge, professionals must discover strategies to endure and make a lasting impact in challenging workplaces. While the wish to escape a toxic work environment is understandable, for many, staying and thriving becomes necessary.
