Dave Loverde founded the Friends of the Feathered and Furry Wildlife Center with his late wife Barbara “Missy” Runyan in 2011 as a rehabilitation center for injured or orphaned wildlife in New York State. The wildlife service also travels to multiple locations where animals are threatened with future injury and physical injury of adult animals that can be treated without capture or injury to animal. They offer educational programs that cover ages from adult to pre-k on how to peacefully co-exist with our wildlife.

Dr. Susanrachel Condon LM DM, a.k.a. Birdie, graduated from the SUNY Brooklyn Midwifery Program in 1998. She is also a certified cooperative childbirth educator, a sexual health instructor, and a massage therapy instructor, who has taught broadly in numerous programs and venues throughout the US. Susanrachel has served as a clinical preceptor for four midwifery programs. She was one of eight graduates in the inaugural class of the Doctorate in Midwifery at Jefferson University, studying the long term impact of conventional maternity care practices on mental health and well being. Her research was centered on consent, collaborative decision-making, overt obstetric violence and subtle, unconscious coercive practices as barriers to respectful care. She runs a Midwifery Practice based in the Hudson Valley, New York called River and Mountain Midwives.

Susan Wagner, Co-founder of Equine Advocates Inc. joins us to talk about what inspired her to start the horse sanctuary located in Chatham New York.  The non-profit 501 (c) (3) was established to protect, rescue, and prevent the abuse of equines through education, investigation, rescue operations, and dissemination of information to the public and operation of a horse sanctuary for slaughter-bound, abused, and neglected horses.  Equine Advocates is an award-winning organization, honored by the New York State Humane Association and the Thoroughbred Charities of America for excellence in equine protection and rescue work, including numerous multi-horse rescue operations.
