English literature consists of 8 major periods and several ages. Each period or age of English literature is named after the central literacy figure, or the important rulers of England, or certain literacy movements, In this episode we, the students of 9 A, will take to you to the era of Renaissance. The word Renaissance comes from the French word for “rebirth”, referring to the movement’s origins following the Dark ages and the new interest in and rediscovery of Greek and Roman texts that inspired the minds of the time. It was a period between the 1300s and 1660. This episode will give the information on contribution of William Shakespeare and its famous plays like Hamlet and Romeo and Juliet. This episode will provide Victorian literature refers to English literature during the reign of Queen Victoria who ruled from 1837 to 1901, The Victorian era was known to be the golden era of literature novelists during the Victorian era began to direct their attention towards social issues.
