In this week’s episode of the podcast, we sit down with Chicago artist MVTE (mute) to talk about her music, and Chicago’s influence on her music, her songwriting process, and she breaks down the lyrics for her new single “Change My Heart” for our Lyric Talk segment. We also cover recent album drops from Doja Cat and Tyler the Creator, and the many concerts and music festivals coming back post-pandemic, as well as the 2021 XXL Freshman list.
In this week's podcast, we had the pleasure of speaking with our friend Oscar, about how he got into producing beats, his love for freestyling dance, and his future aspirations of getting into acting. We also give our reflections on the one-year anniversary of George Floyd's death, whether or not Posthumous releases are really made with the deceased artist's best interests at heart, and Drake being crowned artist of the decade and giving him his props.

In this week’s episode, we sit down to talk to DMV-raised artist and old high school friend VHS Jr. and talk about his budding music career as well as his move to Boston. We discuss societal pressures/expectations when it comes to meeting deadlines by a certain age, discovering your passion, and finding your footing. We also discuss our feelings about the George Floyd verdict, Kehlani coming out as a lesbian. In our Lyric Talk segment VHS Jr. breaks down his recent single “Neighbors”, and talks about the deep personal event that inspired it.
In this week’s episode, we sit down with friend and DMV photographer/videographer Batchatbat, as he talks about his experience and work as a photographer/videographer, how he got started, his photography style, and creative process for shooting. We touch upon his influences in music and photography. We cover how music videos play a role in how he gains inspirations for his shoots. In this episode, we talk to a friend and fellow podcast host 7theSage, as he recounts his time serving in the navy on-base in Tokyo with our very own Yaw. He tells us some ins and outs of life in the navy as well as some stories from his days serving. He gives a backstory on how he met and eventually became friends with Yaw. Sage (7theSage) also breaks down his podcast "Porch Stories", and what inspired him to create it as well as the premise of it.
In this episode, we talk to DMV rapper Real Af, as he talks about his upbringing in Oklahoma and moving around and residing in Maryland. He recaps dropping out of college and getting into making music. Real Af also talks about being inspired by Drake, Juice Wrld, Lil Wayne, Eminem, and bands like Paramore & Panic at the Disco when coming up. Real AF recounts the beginnings of his friendship and collaborative relationship with Young Gelo, a friend, and frequent collaborator. He details how Young Gelo started making beats started making beats for him tailored to the sound of his inspirations and freestyling, and his creative process of making music which started in 2018. Real AF gives an inside perspective on his booming track "North Carolina" in our Lyric Talk breakdown, and tells the story about how the song a video came to be with DMV videographer Rob Silver.
In this second part of our two-part episode with DMV rapper Masongo, we continue our interview and discuss the effects of social media both negative and positive. Masongo details trying to find a balance between rapping while juggling school. We also discuss treating and viewing artists as real people instead of just seeing them as public figures. As well as artists learning the business, while continuing their artistry, and being seen as a business.
