B-Sides is an informal yet informative podcast by Boston based brothers Scott and Matt Beddia that features commentary and humor, on their life experiences that deliver their unbiased views on some of life's most interesting topics: music, motorcycles, plastic surgery, sports, inebriated neighbors, the pizza joint, fitness, petty cash, getting the Jig, driving the big rigs, movies, pets, Jimmy Durante, digging for diamonds, prison life, and whatever else makes its way in.
Point of Contact is a self proclaimed "epic" piece. Again, please put on headphones and get yourself lost in the journey this piece will take you. Little tidbits of drumming info on this for all you drum geeks. This piece is written around inverted and straight paradiddles that are performed between both feet and between the left hand and right foot. Also at times I lead with the hi-hat with my right foot while playing the bass drum with my left foot which makes where these notes land not the "norm" to feel. Again what Matty did on this track is nothing short of fuckin brilliant
Solve Z is another piece from IndepenDRUM that I have used as a clinic teaching tool. The ending of this track my Right foot is playing in 5/16, my Left foot is playing in 4/4 while my hands play a 16th note rythmic pattern in 9/8 , 9/8, 12/8. This was the reason for the name because it took a long time to figure that out to play. And like we said in our previous podcast, Matt had no idea what I was recording until he received the drums only track. He then gave the piece it's personality with the effects going on. Be sure to wear headphones to truly appreciate this. *3:10 mark you will hear the distress call but he recorded it backwards so it will never be understood!
