This episode is all about compassion and helps children imagine compassionate responses to various situations in a fun and imaginative way — through a train that only moves when you give a compassionate reply. Join Dr. Deborah Quibell, Amaya and Beezly on this special journey.

Throughout the episode, Beezly and Amaya are given three real-life situations and asked to imagine how they can respond compassionately to each one. Only when they give a reply, the train gets moving again. Compassion helps all of us to move forward . . .towards a world of kindness, care, and courage.

This episode helps children to :

  • Understand what compassion means
  • Imagine a compassionate response to specific situations
  • Comprehend that compassion has two parts—first, to imagine how the person may be feeling and second, to react in a kind and helpful way.
  • Cultivate empathy to others around them

It's important for children to understand that kindness includes respecting the wishes and boundaries of others. Join Dr. Deborah Quibell, Amaya and Beezly as they dive deeply into the meaning of respect and how it connects to being kind through an honest and meaningful dialogue. Deborah also provides some fun reflections or journaling ideas to make the lessons more memorable for children.

Through this episode, children will have a deeper understanding of what respect means and how to practice it. We hope to broaden their definition of kindness to include considering the feelings and wishes of others, and give them a simple strategy to follow when they accidentally upset someone else or disrespect them without knowing.

This is a special edition podcast. All of our episodes are really for your children. But we wanted to offer something to you as parents and caregivers during this difficult time.

We know it’s not easy to parent in today's world. We are enduring many years of a pandemic and are now facing the uncertainty of war in Ukraine. We know our children have a lot of questions, a lot of uncertainties, a lot of doubts, and we're here to help you.

We have a special edition of this podcast also for children, a candlelight meditation, guided by our wonderful nine-year-old Amaya. So just be sure to share that when the time feels right.

We want to give you tools and practices that can help you and your children during this time. We just want to encourage you to have an open dialogue within your family about current events. There are many things, especially with war, which children may be curious about and if we don't explain it to them, they may begin explaining it to themselves. We want to be there to help and guide them through this.

This episode is just an offering for you. We wanted to offer a candlelight meditation, this time for adults. So, make sure you have a candlelit in front of you and about 10 minutes of undisturbed time. We know that this is bordering on asking for a miracle. But let's see if we can make it happen. This is a practice that we want to talk about. So, when you're ready, we can begin.

In today’s episode, we are going to do a sweet and simple rain meditation that helps children to feel more clear and relaxed (in their mind, heart, and body) before starting something new. This meditation, you can come back to and listen anytime when you feel stressed or overwhelmed.

If this is your first time meditating, don’t worry, there is always a first time for everything. Meditation is a practice for everyone–it helps us to feel more calm, connected, and centered. Find a comfortable and quiet place to sit for a couple of minutes…this may be a special corner that you have or you create to come back to each time you want to meditate.

We help kids practice mediation in this episode, to feel connected and calm, and to know it’s a practice they can come back to, again and again whenever needed.

Today we have a special story, all about beauty. Sometimes when we start something new or we meet new people, we worry a little bit about what other people will think of us. So in this story, we take a journey through the forest of inner beauty, where we learn what real beauty is, and hint . . . it has nothing to do with the way that you look.

The forest of beauty reminds us of many things: that beauty comes from inside, from our heart; noticing what makes someone different and unique is noticing their beauty; when someone has a lovely smile and brightness in their eyes, that is their inner beauty coming out, and we don’t always have to smile to be beautiful…it’s important to remember that too.

We help kids learn in this episode, that we can be beautiful even if we are sad or upset as long as we are kind to ourselves and stay connected to our heart . . . that is what matters.

Today’s episode is all about our good qualities and how to discover them and remembering that we have a lot of good qualities within ourselves. We will do a really special activity called the Inner Quality Quiz...it’s not your typical school type of quiz, but a fun game show type of quiz! This special activity helps us discover the good qualities we already have within ourselves. In this episode, we help kids identify the good qualities they already hold, which can lead to a new and deeper sense of self-confidence.

We have a special guest with us for this episode, WeeWoo's very own musician. In this episode, we talk about different strategies to help ease the feeling of being scared or nervous before starting something new. It's normal for children to feel scared, anxious, or nervous around new beginnings. Even as adults, we often struggle emotionally at the start of a new project or activity.

We want kids to know that (1) feeling scared is normal (2) they are not alone, everyone feels scared sometimes during new beginnings, and (3) there are things that they can do to help themselves feel better. We want to make this easier for them (for us all), so we wrote a special song to sing when feeling scared. The melody and lyrics of this song are comforting and reassuring, and serve as a tool to assist children in self-regulation.

It’s storytime today . . . Amaya and Beezly share a story all about special new beginnings, how to be strong, face fears, be brave, cry, and learn from mistakes. This story helps to show kids how to set intentions (during any new beginning) and learn to appreciate their mistakes, rather than feel ashamed or upset when they mess up.

In this episode, we help kids see that learning from mistakes and errors is an essential part of childhood development. We want children to understand there is a positive side to getting things wrong and that our mistakes can be our teachers. We all make mistakes, and when we do, there is a wonderful opportunity to learn and grow.

We see reflection as an essential skill to teach children. Self-reflection helps kids to pause, to understand their achievements, what they enjoy, what they value, and creates a willingness to learn from their mistakes.

In this episode, we explore The Inner Treasure Hunt exercise and give you (and your kids) an example of reflection. This is a simple and creative technique to get your kids reflecting before starting the New Year.
