When I was at a training recently I heard the familiar announcement, “Remember to put your phone on silent.”
I mentioned to the person sitting next to me that my phone is always on silent. She looked at me like I had sprouted an extra head, and it made me wonder: Isn’t it a common practice for entrepreneurs to step away from the demands and distractions that come with running a business so they can work, play, or just think?
Apparently not. I noticed nonstop bells and buzzes the entire time I was there.
This isn’t just about my phone. It’s how I live my life. I don’t get calls and messages from clients at all hours of the day. I’m not constantly checking my emails. That’s not how I designed my business. I can’t imagine not having those boundaries.
Today I tell you more about why that is. And I give you a few pointers in case you’d like a little more peace and quiet—and space from work distractions.

I know that’s how I felt when I worked in the corporate world years ago. Even if you have your own business, it can be easy to slide out of alignment over time. Today, I want to remind you to reconnect with the big WHY behind your business. Because it’s that why that is going to propel you to create the business and life you’ve always wanted.

When I was a brand new business owner, I tried different businesses before I landed on coaching busy entrepreneurs to learn how to have 4-day weekends.
One of those things was gardening (this won’t be a big surprise to long-time listeners of this podcast). I tried selling plants at local flower markets. But I didn’t time things right and the flowers I had to sell weren’t blooming. I couldn’t get anyone to buy them! So I had to get creative with my marketing. It worked!
It’s a really good example of how to set yourself apart by packaging things up in a unique or creative way--and you can absolutely do the same!

I’m an avid gardener. I often get lost in the watering, weeding, and re-imagining my backyard garden. It’s my escape. But it’s also a beautiful metaphor for how I approach business. It’s something I’m always reminding my clients of. And that’s what I’m talking about in today’s episode of the Work Less Make More podcast: You are the master gardener of your business and your life! The seeds you plant today will grow and become your landscape, so plant wisely! Don’t be afraid to move things around. You don’t have to accept that big shrub where it is just because it’s there. Want more sunshine and flowers? (Or more freedom and money, perhaps?) Go get a shovel and move it to plant what you really want in that spot. Even when you set boundaries (or lay down mulch) weeds will pop up. That’s a part of life. And it’s within your power to pull them out before things get overgrown and unmanageable.

Do webinars still work to sell courses? Yes! I feel there are still the best option to get committed, and engaged ideal clients to see your offers. If someone is willing to watch a 60 min training, they are interested and want to see if you can help them. A webinar is not a free training with an offer tacked on the end. It’s a intentional revered engineered presentation that a) does help them by digging into their migraine problem b) shows your expertise 3) gives them time to see if they like your style 4) helps them determine if you are the one to help them Your webinar should be filled with 2021 strategies and authenticity, so if you have an old one, you may want to update it. Wondering when to create a course in your business? In this episode I go through what you need to have in place to make a course really effective. 1) You have experience with clients, patients, helping people. 2) Understanding the process you take them through (repeating the same thing to all your clients, taking them through the same exercises, etc..). 3) You’re getting results for them and transforming their lives. Don’t jump right in at the beginning of your business until you have these things in place or it will be much harder. But don’t let imposter syndrome stop you. I had good intentions, but when it came right down to it, I just wasn’t as committed enough to sit down and get through it. This is just one of the reasons why I love premium courses. When there’s some accountability and interaction built into a course, most people are more likely to show up.
